10 to 15 years ago action and action adventure games were priced
about 50$ with 3 to 5 hours of lenght. Where were all of you (the people so worried about lenght)? Isn't Shadow of the Colossus considered a masterpierce? Resident Evil 1, 2, 3? Ico? Tomb Raider? Silent Hill?
Again, the problem (for me) with the Order is not it's length. The problem with the order is how it decides to balance it and what to do with it.Not a fair comparisons as all of these games, at their time, while having similar length, were either very creative with their gameplay at the time (usually offering something fresh) or offered variation in their design and basically worked well with what they set out to do.
Before I might get smash'd because the thread seems to get heated. I don't even dislike the order. I'm just mostly disappointed. What could've been for a GREAT game that would've lasted in my memory for a long time was a bit let down because it TELLS you about all these great concepts and ideas (The order itself and how the knights work, the werewolves, the weapons, the characters, and that thing that happens near the end) but barely does anything creative with them either in terms of level design, pacing, synergies and interaction. It's almost like the game doesn't care that you're here.
I really wish the devs will continue to support the game because it has huge potential. But my personal opinion is that they'll need to revisit maybe part of their core design if they wish for the IP to flourish. Because once the magic of the impressive visuals and polish goes away and we're more into the new generation, they won't be able to count solely on their cinematic presentation to attract more people. It doesn't seem very future-proof
I also think that the critic of length is ridiculous though. Like you pointed out, other games were the same length and were magistral. Some of my favs like Silent Hill 2, SotC, Vanquish and Bayonetta or even TloU aren't that longer. It's just how they work with that given time
