LTTP: Rhythm Heaven Fever

Long story short, I originally loaned the game from my cousin a few years back, but the disc only lasted a bit before it could't be read anymore (his sister got the disc rather scratched up, sadly). I eventually found it brand new at a Walmart for $13 the night before a Smash 4 tournament, so I was able to play through the game in full. I've since played it in my dorm whenever I didn't have homework or a Smash tournament (or hit a brick wall in my Xenoblade progress).

In short, it's probably my favorite rhythm game beyond the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games (the latter of which is apparently making a comeback, so I'm hyped). The music is insanely catchy, the games are surprisingly challenging given the concept. Why I didn't discover the game or franchise sooner is beyond me, more so given that I'm a musical theatre actor. But let's get back to the music, sweet Mother Teresa on the hood of a Mercedes Benz the music. I could go on for hours about the music, & there's even more awesome songs that I didn't mention here
that you guys will likely kill me over for not linking here
. But overall, it's an insanely underrated game. And because of this game, I plan on getting the DS version & I can't wait for the 3DS version (hopefully it gets localized), & I hope that the Chorus Kids & the Rhythm Heaven stage that were originally in Smash 4 eventually see the light of day as DLC alongside Mewtwo & the Miiverse stage (we both know they were working on the 3DS & that you still have the data, Sakurai, just finish them up). In the meantime, I'll be listening to the Rhythm Heaven Fever songs that I downloaded to my laptop, & maybe do another playthrough (or do the extra games, perfect every single minigame & possibly some multiplayer).
And yes, Remix 10 did kick my ass on my first try.

I love this game, but I'm so terrible at it. Those clock monkeys mess me up every time. They're adorable though.

Just love games that use the Wii Remote only, brilliant! Playing a game while drinking something is so liberating.

DS version is right there also. It is something interesting in terms of "feelback", i like the tap & drag type of interaction a bit more than button presses. Would like to see if they could expand the concept for touch screen use with the Wii U and it's particular type of dual screen set up.

Amazing game, easily one of the best of the seventh gen. We had so much fun trying to unlock all of the songs.

It was hilarious when my wife brought it over to someone's house and they thought the game was broken because their piece of monkey shit LCD TV had so much input lag that it made the game unplayable. HD CRT or bust.

I mainly just played off of the GamePad, which surprisingly had little input lag.

Props! I went back to playing this just a few weeks ago trying to medal the one's I had left. The music in these are so good. Definitely a fan of the karate chop metal and the cheer readers. Just going back to all of them brought a big smile on my face.

But fuck that slow hip-hop mini-game. I'm never going to medal them. IN TO YOU. IN TO YOU. FO SHO'. FO SHO.

There's a strange satisfaction being able to play this game and get a Perfect without even having to look at the screen.

....though Love Rap was easily the most annoying because for some damn reason, I could never get the rhythm down (see also ghost guitar game from DS version).

I absolutely love this game but I cannot beat Remix 7. I've put hours into it but the tap dancing just destroys me. Do you guys have any advice because I would love to finish it but that tap dance section kills me.

There are some mini games that I actually do better with by closing my eyes (Air Rally for one).

I loved it, except for that Love Rap mini game. Ugh. I generally found on the same level of the DS one. Both have some great songs and okay ones, so it balances out.

Now I want to play it again. ~.~

When in doubt, close your eyes & just focus on the sound cues.

I hated that one so much. I could never get the timing down for FO SHO.

"Fo Sho" is the one thing I could never nail consistently as well, so neither of you are alone.

Glad I'm not the only one who had trouble with Love Rap.

& one of these days, I need to get back the DS version so I can hear stuff like Love Lab & SCRATCH-O! HEY! again.

I thought outside of the hip-hop song, a lot of these songs were fun to play and listen to multiple times to get better at. I would for sure welcome the 3DS version (if it gets localized) or anything for that matter. Fever was the only reason I still kept my Wii hooked up when it came out.

One of my favorite Wii games and one of the most underrated games on the system. I really wish more people bought it back when it came out. I remember being the only person who pre-ordered it in a local GameStop in my area and the employees were legitimately shocked when I came in to pick it up.

I'm crossing my fingers for RH 3DS to make its way over here. Do it, NoA!

There's a decent chance that they will, given that they've localized the past 2 games. It'll probably take a bit, though (more so given that they have to translate & re-record the vocals).

By the way OP, if you can figure out a way to play it, there is an english fan translation of the original Rhythm Tengoku game for GBA. It's called Rhythm Heaven Silver.

It's reallyyyy good.

I'll definitely look into it, seeing as Rhythm Heaven has become one of my favorite Nintendo franchises alongside Xenoblade.

Whoa there, Love Rap 2's instrumental was pretty sick.

I just finished playing it again as a pick-me-up. It's probably my favorite Wii game, or if not, it's easily in my top 3. It's also tied with Space Channel 5 Part 2 as my favorite rhythm game ever.

One of the best things about the game (though this is also due in part to the ambidextrous Wii remote controller) is that you can play all of the 2 player games by yourself (except the Rhythm Fighter toy, which is a versus game). Bossa Nova endless is really fun.

Is the GBA game better? Well... I really don't know. I like the GBA's use of multiple buttons and I love the freestyle drum machine and drum lessons (something I'm very sad later games didn't have), but the Wii game IMO has more memorable games and overall better music. All I can say is that they're both definitely better than the DS one, which is still amazingly fun.

don't forget to play co-op, the wrestler must be played like this for best experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpsezVsd0No

Ever since I saw this video, I always played it that way, lol. It's great the extraneous posing doesn't affect the outcome.

So basically you can pull a Sakurai (the art of controlling two players at once perfectly). I might actually try that.

Seriously, is it really that hard? I thought the Monkey Clock was easy.
I found it easy, but I played Rhythm Heaven on the DS, which is extremely similar to this game. I also have a music background. I know a couple people who really struggled with it.

I like this game, but I preferred the DS iteration of the series. That said, the DS Rhythm Heaven was my first introduction to the series, and people who played the GBA games apparently thought those were better. Maybe this is a Dark Souls thing where whichever one you play first you prefer. In any case, I thought the Wii game was good, but a bit of a missed opportunity since it didn't do much with the motion controls. It also seemed really, really easy.

Worst minigame. That entire rap minigame is garbage for a variety of reasons

No, not because it uses some for of rap music.

Yes, the rap is indeed the worst minigame, and I really dislike it. It's ridiculously cheesy.

But then "Daisuke!" (Japanese version of "Into you!") at times randomly pops in my head and then I think maybe it's more of a love hate relationship...

love rap's timing may be wonky but at least it's consistent. on the other hand you have tap troupe, in which the final "tap" can either be a half beat faster or a half beat slower without any sort of indication, so the only way to know is by memorizing when it happens. imo, that's a much much greater cardinal rhythm game sin, and really sticks out in comparison to how well designed the rest of the game is.

anyways this game is cool

Now it's easy, but at first it was pretty awkard for me. After completing the game, I found it to be the hardest level out of the bunch. Which was hardest for you?
Probably Catch of the Day, with Love Rap (1 & 2) in close second. I had a hard time with the Boss Pigs initially, but I've been getting better at it.

This is easily the best Wii game...

...that none of my friends played. :[

Whenever I hear the word "together" I think of Shrimp Shuffle.

The single proudest moment in my life was getting a perfect on all games and remixes. Took me about a month and a half for that to happen though (while in college).

Also, I agree with all the posters about that love rap stage. Truly the worst thing and to this day I still can't get the timing down. But the rappers kind of look like Usopp from One Piece so it isn't all bad...
