There Came An Echo |OT| Out on PS4

Tried it just a few minutes ago.

Watched the intro then stared at the screen where the girl ask the first question for voice recognition. Noticed no response from the XBone controller plugged in so I pressed ESC and got the option display bug, closed the game and it crashed.

I guess a patch will come out soon enough, I'll wait patiently (while I find a MIC)

Playstation Gold Wireless works like a charm on Win7 w USB dongle btw in case anyone else needs a mic.

And I'll try just that! :D

Finished it in one go tonight. If anyone is wondering length on Medium was
3 hours according to Steam
.

Pros:
Commander feel is there.
Somehow Feep tied in some past story, hahaha really. Story is iight.
Voice recognition never killed me, actually pretty damn responsive if you calmly give commands with a break inbetween them which kind of fits the mood
Never had any audio issues or bugs
Doesn't overstay it's welcome
Liked a few of the music tracks

Cons:
Problems with (character spoiler)
N___ name being recognized
Acceleration on camera with keys a bit slow to get started and no option to increase pan speed (mouse or keyboard or modifier key)
End Credits
I didn't like them shoot me
Oh and the 'O' in the logo on the menu really ticks me off by how skewed it is (Almost as much as Sequences arrows ;)

Overall glad to have supported the KickStarter and have this kind of game experience as it expands to show more control schemes are viable as VR expands.

Just beat the game - thanks, Feep! It was pretty damn fun!

After the ending,
I didn't realize it was a sequel to Sequence, so I had to go and watch the ending for that since I never beat it.
Awesome stuff! I enjoyed the credits video.

I had started off using my Blue Snowball mic, but it seemed like it was too sensitive and the voice commands just stopped working after the first mission, so I swapped to a USB headset and it worked okay from there on out.

I ran into one issue where Miranda on
the mission where you infiltrate the base to kill the guy for Grace
where she just stopped shooting and appeared to be in her downed state. I could still move her around, but she just stood there, and any time I told her to fire on anyone, she gave the "i'm already doing that" error. After dying and restarting from the checkpoint, it was fine from there.

I dunno whether it's a default or not, but I kept wanting to say 'swap to X weapon' as opposed to 'switch to X weapon' and it never recognized it - I probably should have gone in and added it, but I was already close to the end by the time I got used to saying that instead.

The only part of the game I actively disliked was
the forced stealth section at the beginning of the base mission with Miranda
. It felt like the area should have had more movement checkpoints or something.

Daaamn I have a BlueBall mic too and I didn't plan to buy a headset :/

Having a lot of fun with this! I found the voice recognition was very spotty, but changing it from 'Medium' to 'High' in the settings fixed all of my issues.

Here's a few bugs I've encountered so far.

1- "Mark" tutorial. I tried for 15 minutes and it just wouldn't recognize me saying "Mark". I could issue the "On my mark" command, but "Mark" to initiate the action wouldn't work. After restarting the mission, the voice command worked on my first try.

2- Changing "Voice Sensitivity" in settings seems to break voice recognition. I can go from Medium to High, or High to Medium, and no commands will work until after a game restart.

3-I did encounter a soft lock on Mission 5 though, when:

I restarted the mission during the first major combat encounter on this map, when I realized Grace wouldn't fire. I saw someone else had already experience this as well a few posts up. Not sure what caused it.

This time(after restarting), I took out the snipers at the entrance, and ordered Miranda to move to Bravo 6. On her way, Guard 2 spotted her(I don't believe she was in his sight?). The reload didn't bring me back inside the gates. Instead, I was outside during the 'kill both snipers simultaneously' objective, however there are no snipers. The guards inside the camp are now spawned however, and the gate is locked to the camp.

I have some screenshots if they would help.

4- Hitting the Quit button from the main menu crashes the game. Not sure if this is just something with my setup, but this seems to be 100%

This happens to me, too, but it happens with other games (FFXIV comes to mind) so I was just assuming that it was me.

Finally had time to play this after classes today and I love the voice commands.
I'm surprised how well they work actually. Still, I'm not sure if it's annoying or funny when I get a "Speak up, we can't hear you" every time I curse at a situation.
Also, the history of commands seems to be cutoff a bit.
Not sure if that's a resolution thing but I set it to my native resolution and it's still like that.
Weird, but doesn't bother me much.

Thanks for the code, feep. I'm getting ready to dive in now. I had to check out the command aliases and add one first though.
9tdk7P7.jpg

I may have found a bug. In the command alias setup, the contents of the command tab don't scroll properly for me. The scrollbar moves, but the content doesn't. Let me know if you need any additional info.

I came in here to say this one.

No crashes though on 8.1 that I've seen.

The voice recognition hasn't failed me yet either even with a canker sore on my tongue making me talk goofy.

I've only played through the first mission (got the first achievement) and I had some fun for sure. It seems a bit buggy on my system though -- I had to restart a few times because the game just flat-out stopped recognizing my voice inputs after a cutscene. There was also nothing but inky blackness with voices and sounds between starting up the game for the first time and when you meet Val -- is that a bug or is it supposed to be like that? It seemed like way too much nothing. Am I the only one having these issues?

Anyway I couldn't get my PC to recognize my Turtle Beach headset but I used an old Guitar Hero mike and it recognizes my Canadian aboots just fine, and I'm definitely engaged by the presentation.

New beta build up! If anyone would like to test it, right click on TCAE, go to Beta tab, and enter in: IridiumElement77. Hopefully, with no errors, I can push it live in a couple hours.

Feep,

Windows 10 Build 9879 on my macbook pro (nvidia 650m) seems to work fine. no issues that I was able to tell.

Windows 10 9926 (newest tech preview build) is what has issues. (also nvidia, gtx 980x 2 in SLI)

If I start the game from steam, it hangs after the intro video on a black screen with just my cursor visible.

when it hangs I get the following in the logs -

Voicecore

http://pastebin.com/zdBqxNU0

output_log

http://pastebin.com/NF7XWjy

edit -

Further testing. The overlay has no effect on whether or not the game will load the mission. The first load after the video fails (game hangs) If I load from the save slot, when I start the game again, it will work.

I sadly won't have time to play tonight but hopefully tomorrow can give it a run through. I love the custom voice commands people are doing, going to wrack my brain coming up with some at work.

I had a pretty big bug on the turret mission, when all the commands (even the right-click mouse menus) stopped to work around 2-3 minutes into the mission. Luckily the turrets were covering the right areas and did a good work of the enemies, but I guess that shouldn't happen :p

Other than that, pretty interesting game. I'll probably wait to continue until a proper support for Spanish arrives, as my English pronunciation can be atrocious under pressure and I'm finding myself using the mouse more than I wanted.

There are also some weird/wrong translations, but are just few words/expressions and I guess it's related with the foreign support issue Feep talks on Steam.

Me: Corrin, kill target 1.
Corrin: I'm already on it Sam.
Me: No you're fucking not! Shoot at him you asshole!

I have to say though, the voice commands are pretty superb :)

I've been stuck obsessing over other things, but I did a quick run in the war room to test out the voice commands and whatnot and everything seemed to be working perfectly. Scandinavian English works a ok. I really look forward to actually playing the game.

I have to say, the menu music is very pleasant to listen to while surfing whatnot.

Really, really enjoying it so far. I can only play it in small bursts for reasons, but it's definitely something special as far as I'm concerned. Hooked a friend up with a copy with the wallet money I was saving for me, and she's doing her best to get into it.

A tip from something I've noticed

If you're playing using outside speakers instead of your headset, it seems to really screw with the voice detection. I play on my TV + Surround Sound on the computer, and I switched from using the headset for everything to just using it for voice detection and the speakers for sound so my roommate could watch me play but the voice detection went completely bonkers for some reason.

Wrong characters were being selected, commands were getting straight up ignored, constantly getting Val to say "Speak up, Sam!" . I couldn't seem to balance the volume and the mic. Everything works perfect if I stick to using headset for sound + voice, though.

I was trying out the game today, played War Room, it's great, but every time you press escape to go to any of the options and you come back in the game it's like someone turned off my mic. I see the blue bar moving, but they refuse to listen. Only exiting out and going back in does it fix the issue. I haven't tried the campaign so I'm not sure if it will happen there as well.

I had that happen to me in the campaign as well. I paused it and when I came back, it wasn't registering my voice anymore. I looked for any sort of logs that Feep said to look for, but they weren't there. Restarting the game reset everything though and I didn't lose a lot of progress.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I've encountered a possible bug in the options menu. If I go to the "Misc" tab and click Apply down the bottom, when I click the back arrow up top to go back to the main menu, the options menu doesn't actually go away.

Here is a screenshot and sorry again if it has already been mentioned!

The button says play and not install? Have you tried restarting steam or going to the games properties and doing Verify Integrity of Game Cache?

Big patch has been pushed. Lots of fixes.

I'm at the point of medically dangerous exhaustion, and so now I must sleep. I should be back in eight hours.

Thanks for bearing with me.

Just finished it and watched your video :)

Things I liked:
The voice controls! Oh my god! That was amazing! My Kinect 2.0 doesn't do what you all were capable of doing.
The music. I'm going to buy the soundtrack. It's that good.
Combat. It's simplistic, but it gets the job done. I'm going to have to play it again on a harder difficulty because I could just rush an area.
The story: I liked it. You've created a universe. But...

Things I didn't like:
The story: It was way too fast. In "fast" I mean that you didn't let the connection build between the player and the character. I didn't care about anyone even though you tried to give some significance.
Gay guy who believes in God who gives his life
It fell flat. However, you did a good job in that I wanted to know more about them and was annoyed that it didn't happen.
AI: Apparently my people were pacifists. A lot of times they just would just sit there and get shot. To the point where they died. That was annoying.
Grace talks a lot: Even if you tell her to go far away from danger, she doesn't shut up. She will let you know if a wayward shot even came close to her proximity while her teammates are getting shot in the face.

Both of these have been fixed in the new patch.

Downloading now. Missed the KS, but huge props to Feep for the code. Absolutely adored Sequence, hoping this links up with the previous game in some way. :p

Hey there Feep, game is pretty damn awesome from what little I've had time to play :)

I would like to ask something in regards to localization.

I know voice recognition is coming for more languages and it's English only for now, but I'm playing in Spanish anyway so I can test a bit and let you know if I find something very broken.

The thing is, some of the commands in the mouse wheel are localized to Spanish, but some others are not, like "Move to" or "Hello" and they have this asterisk* on the side that makes me think they are placeholder and might not be intended behaviour.

tl;dr Are orders supposed to be localized in the order wheel? Are strings with a * placeholder? If yes, I could send you a couple of examples.

There are also some (for now) slight overlaps and cutoffs...

Both of these have been fixed in the new patch.

I will play it again! It took me a little bit to get the voice controls down, but once you do...

My point still stands about how fast you tore through the story though. I feel like you could have nurtured that.

You have a fan though :D

Downloaded the latest beta, mission 5 is so buggy for me. After dispatching the first two guards, everything goes down hill, voice recognition seems to cease or dramatically deteriorates in quality that nothing is recognised, tried to say mark and it kept thinking i was saying "mark 2" , the checkpoint has been removed so if I get spotted and the alarm sounds, I have to restart the mission and thus go through that lengthy conversation with that other hacker.

Just tried mission 5 again, got spotted, mission took me back to having not even taken out the guards however the guards are no longer present so I have to restart the mission.

What build are folk on now? normal or beta - i didnt see any updates downloading.

Tried restarting steam a few times.

Still getting crashes on mission 2 :(

I'm having some problems with voice recognition [snipping self-quote]

I tried again this morning and got it working a lot better.

It recognises about 80% of my commands, but only if I use my stern "telling off the naughty kids without actually yelling" voice. I also have to speak fairly loud. It comes across as "Wesley, move to bedroom now!", "Miranda, use the knife and fork".
I don't think it's the actual loudness that's a problem (mic boost, levels and headset-type make no significant difference), it's more that the voice recognition needs the sort of dynamic range that you only get with an "outdoor voice". I think my normal voice is too "flat".

Seems like I'll have to make sure I'm alone in the house when I play, or I'll drive the kids' stress levels through the roof and annoy the hell out of anyone else.

I think there might also be a difficulty with "recharge" and "charge" being default commands. Failing to recognise the former usually means death. I can probably fix that with an alt command ("eneloops" should be distinctive enough).

I'm having a bit of a problem with the voice commands. It seems like sometimes it just outright stops working, and none of my commands get interpreted, even though the game can hear me just fine. Like the thing switches off. There's no crash log to report.
Yea, I'm having the same problem still. I at least got past the tutorial this time, though.

It seems to pick up certain phrases just fine and then others it just wont pick them up at all. Feels fairly random what is going to work and what wont.

I had started off using my Blue Snowball mic, but it seemed like it was too sensitive and the voice commands just stopped working after the first mission, so I swapped to a USB headset and it worked okay from there on out.
Hmm, I'm using a Blue Snowball, too. Its strange though cuz it does seem to recognize many inputs, its just not very consistent and seems to suddenly stop recognizing certain ones at times - like outright refuses to catch it no matter what.

You're making me wonder whether it is a mic issue, although I've got no headset mic to switch to and test it out. Sucks because when its all working its brilliant.

Just want to thank the dev team again for the amazing code give away that was so cool.
will be playing this game at some point not right now to much on my plate but its still amazing.

Great OP

Well that was incredibly frustrating..got to the first mission with full control of 3 characters...Got through the first couple of parts of the mission then I split my group into 2 teams of 2 and 1, Miranda to supress the group of 3 that comes from one side while Grace takes them out..she takes 1-2 shots,is still at 90% energy..then she just lays down for the entire rest of the fight..Grace takes out 2 of the 3 with 0 suppression from her then dies..Miranda's at 85%, other dude takes down his and dies to the final guy on the left..enemy at about 25%, Miranda's now at around 75%..and she just fucking lays there..voice commands "I'm already doing that" "what do you think I'm doing?" FUCKING NOTHING, that's what.

Right click and manually tell her what to do..still lays down and does nothing..Try swapping back to Pistol in case there's a bug with the Screw gun..still doesn't shoot..Tell her to revive the guy and lo and behold she does it, cutting her energy in half while he kills the enemy..now after reviving Grace I have 3 characters under 10% but hope all I have to do is kill the target and mission ends..nope..another wave of enemies and what happens? Miranda takes 1 shot and the stupid bitch lays the fuck down.

I REALLY enjoyed the start of this game..but I think I'm done.

Unless it came out in the last 45 mins and/or Steam isn't updating as it should, it didn't fix it. The guy shooting at Maranda wasn't using a Screw gun, and he actually took a break for a good 15-20seconds as he moved from cover to cover before resuming firing. Had one the previous attempt where Grace was at the corner of a building, staring at a guy shooting at her, but wasn't firing back.

I was amazed by the voice commands at first but now they don't really seem to work. Whether this is because of my accent, the microphone I have had problems with before or a combination of both I don't know. Which is a shame since the game seems to rely heavily on them. OST is amazing. Story premise works but not so fond of some of the characters like Grace. Additionally for some weird reason my native resolution doesn't seem to scale correctly. It's leaving stuff out on both ends of the screen.

Is CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) installed with the game? I just freaked out for a second when I saw new software was on my system that I did not install myself.
