No release date mentioned.

Well shit....do I still download it on the japanese store >_< I don't know. I swear they announced it like this just to deter people from getting the japanese version. Without a release date though, it's still hard to resist.

Damn it. I ordered it last night. Should I try to cancel? Maybe I'll just play for a month then resell and buy again when it comes out here. I guess i can't lose either way. Good on SE

hahaha yeah am sure there are a lot of other folks in the same boat. Though at least they are saying 2015 release.

Makes me wonder if they have already started work on the localization if they were willing to toss out the announcement this early?

Damnit they couldn't have announced that yesterday before my order shipped!?!? Oh well, at least I know if I hit a road block due to the language barrier I'll be able to pick it up in English later. I don't mind double dipping if I somehow feel like I helped it get localized :)

yeah but no, I'm not watching anything more of that stream.
So far I've been good and only watched a few pictures and the gameplay bit's and just muted and tabbed away when story came up, I'll try and keep it that way :D

Sweet, so like Hyrule Warriors? Sure its story wasn't oscar winning, but still a good time.

Whats nice is since this is an original story its not like folks really have to have played previous DQ games also. For those who have the sub-characters are a great addition for the fans.

It's also a great introduction for those new. In preparation for various *new* releases ^^

Hey, if one is dreaming why not dream big?

Wow didn't expect localization news so quickly.

And just when I find out I've accidentally got two PS3 copies coming my way. What a maroon!

Does this mean your two versions combined will run at 60fps?

Who even needs the PS4 version in that case.

Lets start a campaign where we persuade them to patch the Japanese version with english voices/text once available. Or atleast an english text language option for importers. Lots of games let you pick the language.

Tweet SE and link this thread. I support this!

This will never happen :(

that other thread has more or less become a "We want DQ7r next (which i doubt we'll ever see)" or "I dont want a shitty musou title(which its only musou like in the sense of 1 vs 1000(weak monsters lol)" so eh, but man, will this be a day 1 purchase.

I hope these characters are dlc. I mean Yangus and Jessica is in, why stop there?

Im sure they left out the 8 MC due to pretty much thats what the original MC is. Just minus the bandanna lol.

Though Id like to strongly say that most likely they will add in Torneko just due to how loved the character is. Would imagine he would have some interesting skills also. Such as increasing drop rates of $$$ and other things.

Am sure they did not want to put him in from the start due to the King being the "older male" character. Doesnt help too that hes using a staff type of weapon. Granted its not a polearm, but close enough lol.

Probably angelo if anything, I'm going to put a safe bet that most, if not all main character outfits will become costume dlc for the main characters, Torniko (or whatever his name is) should (imo) be the DLC merchant.

Characters left out from this have chance to appear on sequels (which Horii has hinted heavily at Famitsu's interview a few months ago) for sure.

Okay, then, what about Angelo?

Look at how well received Hyrule warrior's dlc was, chances are him, Deborah, Meena(i think thats the name of maya's sister?) and some people from DQ6 and 3 will probably make it as dlc, wouldnt be surprised if they put that female warrior from that anime series as a dlc.

This would get announced for localization after my import copy shipped.
I got it for the ps3 though so im not too miffed.

Fuck it...localization or not, I was planning on playing this game this week, and that's what I intend to do! Wouldn't hurt to expose myself to more Japanese also anyway since I plan to visit Japan in the summer, and am going to be studying it soon :)

Probably gonna take a while to download the full 20+ gigs, but only 43 minutes left to the initial install of 4.3 gb is done downloading ^_^

I'll double dip when it comes out in the west to show my support.

God, Torneko. My PSP died on my during my playthrough, think it was during the Sword/Mage Dungeon. Bought a new one but haven't had the time to sit down with it again :(

Ps, the animation of Torneko as he slides away on the ice is still one of the cutest things ever ^^

Since we have a PC version too can imagine they fully own the rights to everything with the resources used in DQX. Reason for bringing that up is in DQX Tornerko makes an appearance so with that in mind they would already have some motion / model data to go off of if they wanted to.

I'm still in a bit of shock that this coming over. And I'm not even mad that I ordered a copy from Play-Asia. Hell, now I'm hoping the S-E creates a limited edition for the west.

Maybe if I break down and import a copy of DQVII 3DS that'll be announced too. Same goes for Theatrhythm Dragon Quest...

Oh wow, this game has a shoutout to Dai no Daibouken. Alena's Tension Special Attack when you press circle is "Senka Rekkouken" which was Mam's special technique in that series. Different property but awesome to use the same name.

I don't understand why they never adapted Dai no Daibouken into an actual game,

Story's structured very much like an actual RPG (except the end-fight which was loooong), and it was the best DQ storyline.

So who says we CAN'T try to persuade SE to include an english mode in the JPN version? The english version will probably have a japanese option for text and dialog.

So when the localized version comes out, can we switch the OT to NOT A MUSOU or Not a motherFlapping musou (Flapping is in regards to the ganguro faerie from dq9)

Thanks :)

Still weird that they never gave DQX a chance in the west. I imagine FFXIV was finally doing well enough and they couldn't strain their resources.

So stoked! As is my ten year old daughter, who cosplayed as Alena at PAX East last year. Looking forward to it.

Your daughter, she is a ok! *thumbsUp.gif*

I think the thing is too with subscription based MMOs being on the downwards trend along with internal data they have on what could be their predicted userbase from total sales of titles they decided not to bring it out. Projected revenue vs. used resources to run an MMO must not have balanced out.

Got it installed on PS4 and played the first mission. It's definitely a Musou game, but the visuals and sounds go a long way to making it feel like Dragon Quest.

From a graphics perspective, I'm kind of disappointed. I thought the game was going to look and run a little better. It's definitely not locked at 60 fps and there are some pretty big drops even in the first mission. The mysterious lack of anistropic filtering typical of PS4 games strikes again here, but it stands out even more than usual since the environments are so barren, flat, and span across a long distance. They're also using some really low quality SSAO effect that causes a lot of flickering and hurts the overall image. The other gripe I had is that the low quality models for monsters at a distance are terrible. They look like 2D sprite boards with maybe two or three frames of animation. Luckily, they only showed up only once on the first mission.

Definitely going to dig in more later today, but I figured I'd post my initial impressions about the graphics.

I don't know why but I didn't really notice frame drops for some reason...but I think I am not really sensitive at frame rate drops.

I agree with AF.. AA and AF are major complaints about the visuals for me. I think it still looks quite good in motion though.
