Spider verse is really easy to get into, so now's a good time. The event is mostly self contained as well- no real need to know a ton of spidey backstory, though there are a lot of crazy references in there for long time fans.

It still bums me out that instead of being a fun-times celebration of the Spider-Man mythos, it's more Dan Slott riling people up with cheap shock deaths, mean-spirited cameos and character assassination. Leopardon arriving should have been the tightest shit, and for exactly one page, it was- and then it got fed to the blackhole mary sue villain for no other reason than to make him seem even more threatening.

Should have double sized the issue. The way it wrapped up felt like the ending of a Scooby Doo episode.
I feel behind a bit on some of the tie-ins, did
Karn actually show up in anything for more than a couple pages after Edge of Spider-Verse? His face turn seems really unearned here, and should have been fleshed out more.

They should, it was the reason why everything tied together so nicely.
Now they can't jump between universes anymore and the remaining Spider-Men can go home without a problem and won't have to worry about them.
Too easy if I say so myself.
I'm surprised no one made a bigger deal about that. Killing an inheritor is one thing,
but executing one of their prisoners to make sealing them easier is a pretty cowardly, inferior solution.

I was thinking there's a small chance what Otto did is what
caused all those universes to blink out of existence at once. If it was maybe those universes aren't really gone but disconnected from the web and out of the Incursion game.
That'd actually be a really cool way to explain how Secret Wars inherently can't really cover and destroy/reconfigure all of the multiverse.
Speaking of,
Every time we approach an ending to a Slott story, it's imperative that Marvel reminds us: the wild ride never ends. No brakes on the On-Slott.
Yeah it wasn't as good as the other issues. I always thought the Master Weaver would have been the Spider-Man of Earth-001.

how was he able to kill Solus? Solus did say he'd use the last bit of his power to destroy Leopardon, so I guess that may be the reason why he was so easily beaten?

Underwhelming end to an underwhelming event. The epilogue might at least have some nice character moments.
That's the only thing that makes sense. Slott is really bad at action scenes.
Being The Other also significantly increases Kaine's damage to the Inheritors though- he was almost single-handily responsible for killing
Deimos too, when they drew first blood after meeting up with team SpOck.

I am saddened that the whole thing felt so empty. There was almost no actual writing. You can sum up the plot of almost every single issue with "There are many spider-men, a fight happens, some spider-men get hurt or killed." It was mostly "action" and not a lot of character, which made all the cool cameos feel hollow.
Even the long anticipated Peter vs Superior was totally unexciting. Ock finds out that Peter is from the future and after a very minor scuffle his response is basically "That sucks oh well, whatever you say Mr Spiderman Sir."
Underwhelming really is the word, but I'm still glad it happened just because I liked seeing all those Spider-Men. I just wish it was better. I did enjoy the issues earlier on that introduced the new Spiders. That was more interesting than the actual main storyline.
And Japanese Spider-Man with his giant robot was awesome.

I caught up with everything in a few sittings, including all the tie-ins (something I usually don't bother doing with these events), and enjoyed the whole thing a lot. Looking forward to the wrap-up.
I found the sideline stories and random one-offs to be much stronger than the main conflict for the most part though, so I can see how reading only the main ASM issues can give a hollow feeling. Seeing the Spider-Men interacting and doing rescue missions was always delightful. Overall it was a very enjoyable romp, a lot of cool ideas with a standard fare main plot that kept things going without collapsing unto itself.
Hobart/Punk Spidey is rad, Spider-Gwen is cool. Morlun stuck in a black and white weekly comic strip was damn funny, and the short story with Penelope Parker was super cute. There was just a lot of good fun to be had all around. My favorite one has to be "Too Many Spider-Men!" from Spider-Verse Team-Up #2 though, that trio was hilarious.

The only thing more satisfying than watching Peter finally lay Otto the fuck out and making sure he knew that it was Otto's decision to give Pete the mantle back due to his own inferiority was
watching Kaine's hand burst out of that cocoon.
I'm sure Spock'll be back. No matter how many times you cure it, he's like a sickness that keeps coming back.
