Are you sure this is the case here?

PC is not threaten by console so the bitterness you are seeing probably comes from elsewhere.

The bitterness is coming almost exclusively from holier-than-thou PC enthusiasts. Not just on NeoGAF either, any conversation about consoles across the web will always have at least one PC gamer piping on about how he doesn't see 'what's so special' about consoles.

In the case that I quoted, yah I'm pretty sure it is there. I don't get why every console sales thread has to turn into PC gamers showing up and saying: I don't get why people buy these consoles, why are they so popular, who's buying this stuff, don't they know they can get a PC, lul peasant.

I have both. I must hate myself. :p

This makes absolutely no sense, but it's just too fucking awesome.

The dude doesn't even hit the enemy with the sword, so why even bother taking it out of the hammer lol

I am just a 90% PC gamer with a little Nintendo here and there nowadays. It´s just a little surprising to a console selling this much in 2015. The times of dedicated hardware and exclusive software seem long gone. No more superpowered consoles, just something a 400€ PC from 2014 can beat easily and the same software i get for cheap on steam.
I guess it´s cool to own a Playstation again.
Honest question, why do you think that the time for exlusive hardware and software is over?

The sole reason why dedicated hardware and exclusive software excist is because of business reasons. They want to sell their product(s), and therefor try to make it as appealing as possible. This concept is just as relevant today as it was 30-40 years ago.

I dont think that there are many people who buys a PS4 (or whatever system it might be) simply because its cool to own. The reason is more simple than that, its selling because it appeals to a lot of people. It wont appeal to everyone, that is fine of course. Its the same thing with VR too for example. Some people wont see the appeal in that, but a lot of people do.

The dude to the right backs up a little when he takes it out... I might be reaching though lol

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
With a whole lot of help from Microsoft's blunders.

Sony busting out of the gate as they did was as much MS's fuck up as Sony doing everything right on the tightrope. Its the same type fo thing 360 did to eat all that marketshare away from PS3. A combination of Sony fucking up and MS doing a lot of things right.

I don't think you can devalue the importance of each thing

lmao @ people acting like PS4 has no game when Bloodborne is about to come out

Have fun with your Dark Souls 2 remaster peasants :)

It makes me really sad to see PC gamers care so much about a console they have no interest in owning. Why so salty?

I don't think one dude with a Nintendo avatar that can't type English represents PC gamers.

edit: wait, he has AMD parts. He's not a PC gamer ROFL

Pressing L1 during a swing can alter you weapon state. You can chain combos from 2H-1H-2H etc.

So the player in the video had the choice to stick with the 2H state and basically keep hitting the enemy that way but basically switched back again because this is a trailer and they need to show us that weapon transformations can happen mid-swings.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Fans, blu ray drive, hdd, heatsink, psu, case, mobo etc etc?

These sort of posts are ridiculous.

Don't forget Windows. Which is almost 1/4 of the the 400 cost unless they get a dodgy key.

Exactly.

Beat me to it. Pretty sure a PC has more than the 3 parts he listed....

Anyway....amazing for the PS4. Looking forward to 2015. Uncharted, Phantom Pain, Blood Borne... Still shocked Metal Gear isnt a Sony console exclusive anymore..

Aye, it gives me similar vibes to my weapon of choice in MH4U, the Charge Blade. Combat in this is going to be stupidly fun.

It doesn't represent all PC gamers no, but there is a very vocal section of the PC gaming community that acts like this every time console gaming is brought up. It was played out last generation, now it is just childish and toxic behavior from a community that should be more inclusive. Why do they care? Shouldn't you just be happy that someone got into gaming and is having a good time, it doesn't matter if they bought into your preferred platform.

They deserve success for not fucking up like the others but to think that it's already about to outsell lifetime sales of Xbox and Gamecube - which had loads of great must-play games in their lifetime - is a bit sickening.

Hype sells.

why is this making people so mad?

Phenom X4 965 BE
Radeon R9 270x
8 GB Ram

Cheap, mediocre stuff.
Still runs circles around a PS4.

You didn't build a computer for that price, you bought three components. Power supply, case, motherboard, storage, operating system, peripherals. Those things, along with those three components, is a PC. Those three things are $50 less than the PS4. I very highly doubt you got all six of those other things for under $50.

People posting these types of things is just ridiculous and on some levels, hilarious.

Couldn't he go hammer->pull out sword->hit with sword->return sword->hit with hammer to make it make sense?

It would make for a fantastic challenge. You go to his house, take out all the parts he didn't list and see who can play the best version of a multiplatformgame. The hacked up PC or the PS4.

You'd be pissed too if you couldn't play Bloodborne ;)

In all seriousness though, it's just the fanboys, which are awful annoying people no matter what platform they love. REAL gamers have a console or two to go with their PC. Otherwise you'd just stay losing.

EDIT: So he has, still talking more nonsense. Yikes.

Its not hilarious. It was laziness. Yes. I bought those too. Yes, i reused the OS and the keyboard. That's how this stuff works.

PC talk in this thread is weird. I'm definitely a PC gamer, I have a 980 ffs, but I couldn't be happier that the ps4 is doing so well. It means devs will still bother creating games for that market, which then turn into ports for my platform of choice. It's a good thing all around, and very good for the industry. Anyone upset that consoles are still selling well needs to get laid.

I don't think it's necessarily a purely economic decision over whether to pitch PCs over consoles. PC people need to remember some things before wondering why so many people still buy consoles. Namely:

"Will putting together a PC be easier than going to a store and buying a console?"

"Will my PC be able to plug into a TV easier than a console will, so I can play it on my big TV while lying on my couch?"

"Will I be able to easily get a controller working on said PC, as opposed to having one work at literally at a press of a button for my console?"

"Will buying, patching and installing games for my PC be easier than on consoles?"

"Will my PC setup guarantee that any game I buy will run well with little to no effort once installed?"

I imagine that some informed gamers (including me) are aware that PCs can be powerful machines, but don't necessarily want the hassle to deal with it, even if it's gotten tons easier over the years and could result in higher framerates/resolution etc, it's still not as easy as consoles.

It's the same for Sony, Xbox and Nintendo fanboys.

It's nothing new. PC gamers get attacked by console gamers constantly to.

Yikes. Why so angry? I didnt try to offend anyone. No need to be defensive or seeing agendas or illuminati around every corner. Yikes.

For 400€ 13 months ago? So, you're saying you build yours cheaper here in Europe, than Gamespot did in NA 11 months ago, where PC parts are cheaper, and even got more RAM than they did?

Idk if PC parts are cheaper in NA, but what i know for sure is that they were more expensive compared to the console price.
You could get more pc stuff for 400€ in 2013 that you could get for $400, cause of the strong €.
PC prices in europe actually rised in the last few months by ~10% cause of the euro falling.
So yes you could build a pc (wo a Blu-Ray-drive) that beat the consoles in power in dec. 2013 for ~400€.

The problem a lot of PC gamers have is that they are incapable of understanding why anybody would buy a console. They are so wrapped up in their own bubble they've lost any and all understanding of why anyone would choose to play on anything other than what they deem to be acceptable.

And I say this as someone who owns a gaming PC.

The fact of the matter is that at £300 or whatever, the PS4 represents excellent value for what it offers. It offers variety, excellent visuals, all the most popular franchises and an all-in-one gaming solution for a really attractive and accessible price. And at that point, a lot of the unquestionable advantages of PC gaming just straight up don't matter. PC gaming is great, but for millions of people who enjoy this industry a lot of the things that make it great are utterly irrelevant to them. The PS4 offers them everything they need. Tens of millions of gamers straight up don't want a gaming PC and will never own a gaming PC. And it's fine for them to take that stance.

I love Playstation but I agree it doesn't deserve the sale... not at this point of its lifecycle. There is no noticeable game at all.

I agree with him. The PS4 library is abysmal and embarrassing next to the WiiU is even Xbox One first party titles. Most of Sony's have been a huge let down.

Are people really happy with Sony's output for the PS4? It has been nothing but mediocre game after mediocre game imo. Hopefully they will improve and go back to how they were in the PS3 days, but right now i am not happy with my PS4 at all.

I'm never buying the PS5 first year... maybe not even 2nd.

Congratulations i guess. Still don´t get why it´s selling so much. Most unappealing hardware/software combo for me personaly since i started gaming.

Indeed. I'm sick of this elitist attitude. But it exists in other hobbies, because there's always some insecure types who don't feel good about themselves unless they're putting others down.
