I'm qouting chinner like one page back, it also happened with some Sony memo thing.

I wouldn't get excited it's probably a PR mistake, since Kojima and most people seem to keep calling him Snake instead of Big Boss...which I hope changes, I love the moniker and I wish they would use it more in universe.

Yeah I think you're right about that. People seem to get confused a lot with Solid Snake and Big Boss.

Kojima only considers the games he directed as canon ( with the exception of a couple of story points in portable ops ) so the digital comics are meaningless.

True, but the whole thing about Mantis is that he can control people's minds, that is evident in the actual game when he takes control of Meryl. The digital comic just has this extra scene where Solid Snake is under an illusion but breaks out of it because he realizes.

ed: And holy shit at this hexagon bit. This guy has to be onto something, there's just no way all of this is a coincidence.

Olga: I was at a hospital run by the Patriots.

Are you being sarcastic? Or serious? lol, I'm not even sure anymore. But the hexagon is a well known motif in Metal Gear franchise.

OHN channel also had a video about it a year ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn9dfDheSSo

Exactly. He confirmed this in his recent interview with IGN as well, where he left out PO when he was naming every installment that is part of the Metal Gear saga.

And the digital comics are meaningless indeed, they also directly contradict the 'In the Darkness of Shadow Moses' book, which is canon.

I didn't know about the hospital thing specifically. Well I saw it but never made the connection, and then Olga talking about a hospital run by the Patriots puts that into perspective. I didn't see anyone else point that out. Why would Big Boss wake up in a hospital run by the Patriots/Zero? (if we assume that's true). Plus aren't they trying to kill him? I mean they already fiddled with his balls once didn't they?

The Japanese train station sequence is the most amazing thing though. I had no idea it was a recurring thing, and it seems like it has to do with things malfunctioning (related to the Patriots) including Gray Fox? well played Kojima, it's been there since MGS1. This guy has been planning this shit since the mid 90s.

I still can't believe there will be missions that last as long as six hours.

That's insane.

Oh God, The Phantom Hype Pain.

Yes, yes you've been waiting a long time...

Yes, yes you want to know how long it will be...

I'm Afraid it will be...

6 months.

There must be some sort to catch to that phrase. I doubt a mission will be a total of 6 hours. Unless they're including like some sort of collectible bullshit side mission along with or whatever. Color me intrigued though. 6 months though. Eeeash. I'm glad it's not June. Between FFXIV new expanion and MGSV for a June date would of been a painful choice between the two.

ok, about this six hour mission comment by kojima.

i believe what is going to happen is, yes it will be one 6 hour mission story arc with many smaller chapters around the same length as the ground zeroes mission, or a little shorter.

Considering he was translated as saying Missions, meaning implying more than one I still think we may get some crazy long missions if the ambition of this game is really what it's cracked up to be.

And honestly, I'm finding it hard not to believe.

Including 5 hour cutscenes.

Metal Gear is still alive baby. Yeah.

Well poo on them, then. If you can make it, then you can make it. Simple. We should hold it in Vegas. Not only is it easy as fuck for me (LOL), but it's also one of the most transient cities in the world.

If I had money I'd travel to Vegas just to hang out with everyone, experience unwrapping the game and playing it for the first time.

Also, if I can drink, perhaps I'll introduce you guys to some great Microbrews and little known Belgian beers and many whiskeys and scotches.

It will be around September 1st that I'll probably be able to play games again anyway and I am gonna start with MGSV:The Phantom Pain. I've thought about it and if GameStop calls me to change my Preorder to a CE and it's around $90, I'm gonna do it. I love steelbooks.

Would any of the more talented image editors be up for a challenge? I'm a huge fan of both Hannibal and MGS, and I kinda want to blend the two.

Would anyone be able to add in the horn and eye-patch for this image?

Similar to the one in the GDC trailer.

I'd be down with that.

And 20 hours of tapes please.

I loved listening to tapes in PW.

The tapes were by far my favorite thing in Peace Walker, I didn't miss the old codec at all to be honest. And it looks like TPP will have a lot of tapes if GZ is any indication.

Yeah, and what I like is that you now also have the option to listen to them while in-game.

Hopefully we can listen to custom music while in the chopper (when you're going to your next destination/mission), that would be cool.

I know people don't want to watch that video but at least look at this, mirror therapy (I think it's the most plausible thing he talks about).

This is Kojima after all, that old git is always up to something.

What if Skull Face doesn't exist and is just in Snake's mind the entire time because he is the personified representation of all of Snake's pain and regrets over the years. He operates under the insignia XOF because he is the antithesis of Snake's past; Snake can either give into Skull Face's influence and become corrupted by revenge or move on.

Well there's my crazy conspiracy for the day.

That's unlikely given the events of GZ. Some soldiers and POWs even talk about SkullFace long before BB ever meets him.
Not to mention Chico's tape recordings and the attack on Mother Base.

DONT KNOW ANYTHING

I'm just wondering how they got another oil rig as a main base.

Assuming Ocelot takes Big Boss from the hospital there to recover, wouldn't Big Boss be like "yo dude, we tried oil struts as a base last time, turns out they're actually pretty easy to wreck. Maybe, you know, a bunker of sorts would be better".

Also love how we don't know shit aside from awaken from coma -> ????? -> rescue Miller in Afghanistan -> ????? something in the jungle I guess ?????

I imagine that while Big Boss is in a coma Kaz starts to rebuild mother base without him. Sometime just before or during Big Boss awakening from his coma Kaz is taken. There must be some type of time skip from Big Boss escaping the hospital and going to Afghan, because he goes from hella skinny to hella buff.

Don't know how the jungle, the funeral at sea, and bloody Big Boss fit into it.

Well there's my crazy conspiracy for the day.

I like this a lot.

I'm still blown away from yesterday night when I found out about that train station thing.

Hadn't played it in a few years so I broke out the PS3 Friday evening to start up MGS3 HD with the intention of following along with Giant Bomb's Metal Gear Scanlon 3 episode to episode.

...Credits rolling by last night.

These stupid games.

Empty Cassette tape/PTSD influenced hallucinations, like in
Spec Ops: The Line
. His subconscious is being projected into the world around him.

I only made it one hour of that "Detailed" analysis video that just came out a couple days ago. I wouldn't consider it an analysis by any means. It is only a theory based off speculation. I couldnt go anymore to it.

Nice. Unfortunately, that doesn't explain the tapes where we hear him speaking or the fact that the guards talk about him. Perhaps he is real but still fulfils that kind of role?

The first hour isn't all that, the last 30-40 mins is what you should be watching. He saved the best for last.

The mirror therapy stuff does sound intriguing, but wouldn't XOF be the mirror of FOX? It's gotta be something to do with that...

Already posted it in one of the mgo forums but might as well..

m8s.. do you really want to potentially spoil yourself with this stuff? I think its better to wait and play the fucking game to experience it the way its supposed to be. Not even sure if i'll watch the coming E3 trailer since kojima likes to go overboard with pre-launch hype advertisement - remember the last MGS4 trailer?

Yes that's true as well, but the actual therapy done is to believe something (a limb) is there to relieve the pain but in reality it's not there.

And so the point he comes to is that GZ may not actually be real, that alone wasn't enough to convince me. But then he talks about the train stations bit where whenever a Patriot controlled system starts to malfunction there is an audio sequence that keeps repeating the names of train stations of a Japanese train line:

1. MGS1 - Gray Fox is seen saying this sequence in the corridor and also an unused file.
2. MGS2 - When the AI speaking to Raiden starts to malfunction in Arsenal Gear it also says the same sequence.
3. MGS4 - Sunny, who was raised by the Patriots?, says the sequence when cooking eggs.
4. MGSV GZ - In the Déjà vu mission there's a part when something gets messed up and this random text appears on the screen, the iDroid says the sequence with messed up audio and then says 'Functionality restored' or something when everything goes back to normal.
5. MGS PW - When you start dismantling the Patriot AI (the one with the Boss's voice) The Boss says the sequence.

These aren't spoilers. It's already happened in the games we've all played. We just haven't been making the connections.

Remember this guys?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D781HS6/

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is coming to PS4.

Combining open-world action with a new breed of stealth, take on the rough terrain of Afghanistan and tactical espionage with Solid Snake and a whole host of new characters.

I think we all realised that this information wasn't exactly solid, so I asked a question to Amazon and I have received this response

You asked, "is solid snake in this game?"

We sent your question about Metal Gear Solid V: The... to other customers who bought the product and sellers of the product, and unfortunately none of them have yet responded.

Questions remain unanswered when we do not have enough customers or sellers to ask, or when the question is particularly difficult to answer. At this point your question is unlikely to receive an answer, but it will remain posted on Amazon.co.uk and we will notify you if anyone responds.

We all know in the gaming world that a lack of response is almost a confirmation. Whats more, Amazon has left the description unedited.

Snake is back!

They've been really smart about how they've handled the footage they've shown. Lots of glimpses at things that are difficult to place in a timeline.

Even the gap between the end of the coma and rescuing Kaz might be sizeable. Or maybe just a cutscene. But Big Boss certainly needs to gain a lot of weight, you need to be introduced to his new arm. etc.

The way I'm thinking Ocelot is part of a FOXHOUND division, along with Psycho Mantis, that ends up being Diamond Dogs, which decides to rescue Kaz, which later become Outer Heaven, but then bad FOXHOUND splits off for MGS1 (Ocelot, Mantis, Liquid etc), but even all of that is speculation.

I have no idea what'll happen and it's exciting.

The launch MGR trailer too.

I blame Platinum for asking/letting Kojima make a trailer.

I can just imagine a supervisor being all like "Kojima, no, pls" in the editing room as Kojima is cutting all of the stuff they tried to hide into the trailer.

He was pretty good about keeping Armstrong a secret, but not much else. He practically gives you a walkthrough.
