Battlefield Hardline |OT| Battlefield FIVE-O

It's instantly telling how long people have been playing Battlefield itself when they make a value call on this versus actual past expansions.
Its telling that you havent been on the pc side very long if you think that this isnt essentially a mod on the multiplayer side. Its neat they made a new single player campaign, good for Visceral. The game is still in the same engine as bf4, uses similar modes as 3 and 4, and adding cars and a few bank levels doesnt warrant a full release, but hey, i'm sure you're one of the guys who enjoys paying $60 for the same game from last gen over and over and enjoys "remasters" and "hd collection."

I have the same stance with COD, the only reason the new games arent expansions, is because people are willing to spend $110 every year for a new "game" and the season pass.

Don't buy it then?

$15 expansions for Battlefield are four maps, a few vehicles, a few guns, and one or two game modes. If Hardline was an expansion then the out of the box content would be spread out over three or four $15 expansions, and that doesn't even take the SP campaign into account. Also, if Premium works out like it did for BF4, then that will also be worth the additional $60 for people who choose to pay it.This idea that Hardline is little more than a single expansion pack is absurd. Whether or not you want to play the game is your choice, but don't try to twist the facts to fit some kind of anti-EA or anti-Battlefield agenda. I personally don't plan on buying Battlefield, as BF4 still has enough life left in it to last me until Battlefront, but there is no question that the content on offer is worth the price they are charging.

Playerbase-dividing map-packs only work when you've got a big enough player base to support all the content. BF4 and COD have it, but I doubt Hardline will. Especially come fall or winter, whenever Battlefront comes out. EA is going to throw all of their marketing muscle behind Battlefront, this game will become a footnote in a press-release that no one pays attention to.

I agree that this is probably enough content to warrant the full purchase, I don't think the premium offering in this case is a particularly wise investment. Also there are only 4 "packs" in Hardline's Premium offering, vs BF4's 5 packs for the same $60.

Premium wasn't even worth the value for BF4 because they never offered mixed servers until a few weeks ago. I feel so burned over that, one of the only pieces of DLC I've ever purchased, never again.

Unlocked it early using the VPN trick, and am not getting the graphical complaints. I think it looks pretty good in fact. Everything on ultra 4x MSAA getting super smooth performance at 1080p. 2600k@4.4 and a 970. When I go back I'm going to try some downsampling.

As far as controller support, it's in, but AGAIN does not have the buttons labeled. There aren't enough Facepalms and SMH's in the world.

Graphic complaints are console only, no? Bf4 is gorgeous on pc, i assumed hardline would be too.

Also, lol at all the "work" they put into it, but couldnt add button prompts.

Copy paste add cars sell for $60

Anyone have performance impressions with a build similar to this:

7970
2500k @4.2GHz
8GB RAM

Thinking of buying it tonight but want to get an idea of what performance I can get and also server/launch status.

I'm going to go pick it up in about 30-45 minutes, then hold off on starting it until I get up. It saves me from having to go out tomorrow, when I will want to play it.

Any ideas on an average length of the campaign? I thought someone said 9 hours. I'm thinking about playing through it on hard during the week I'll have it.

Yes I was referring to a poster on the previous page who said that it's a plain unattractive game even maxed on PC. I'm very early, but I think it looks good.

That's one of my gaming PCs. I was playing bf4 maxed at 1080 with no post aa and like 2x real aa and it was smooth on that rig. Bfh should be smoother considering the supposedly smaller maps

Yeah i dont get why the on screen commands are still not labelled if you are using the controller. they had a few years to fix this. Really sloppy on the developers part.

11pm, game unlocked, fire it up for the very first time, and...

BFH.exe has stopped working.

I know, it's unfair to jump to conclusions, but man, an unfortunately perfect first impression.

So apparently because I live in England and bought this from the US PSN store, I still have to wait until the 19th when it officially launches in the EU.

Fucking stupid man. Fuck arbitrary release dates and geolocking.

Can anyone tell me how to get the in PC game button prompts to reflect the Xbox 360 controller scheme? The controller works great, just sucks playing the SP and getting PC button prompts instead of the 360 ones.

There's this for whoever wants to check the player count: http://bfhstats.com/

Neat site.

PS4 is pretty much even split BF4 and Hardline (+2K) now while XB1 is 15k more for Hardline than BF4. Skewed dramatically by Early Access possibly, I literally just got kicked off after my 10 hours ended and 5 minutes ago. EST, I was worried it would end and midnight. Buying on PS4

Oh my god I just quit the game and came in here to ask if the controller prompts were messed up for anyone else. Why can't EA ever get controller support right. Every cheap ass indie game I play has full controller support for like 8 years now. Mickey Mouse Amateur Hour bullshit.

Why do I buy video games.

Left for work this morning and bf had downloaded 16 gig in about 6 hours. Get home from work and its only sitting at 27 gig.

Why does this shit always take so long on PSN.

still waiting for this. he/she has at least 440 codes to message out so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. better get it by the end of Tues though.
Dear Kabuto,

I will start sending them out at 9am CST. I will send them in the order they were received

This is what he emailed me when I asked what time we will get the codes. It sucks that we can't play exactly at midnight, but it was $30.

I really want to play right now after watching all these Twitch streams though, not gonna lie

How?! The unlock time has always been based on what region you bought it in. Never had this problem before:(

just encountered the same problem. in the past, the unlock time was always the us time when the game was bought in the us store. however, now my copy of battlefield remains locked and shows the local unlock time (germany). anybody found a workaround?

Picked it up at midnight launch.

Pretty good, so far. I like the arrest mechanic. It adds some variety to the gameplay, other than just "shoot stuff".

feel exactly the same. it's ridiculous.
Come on there's heaps of time. Plus, the maps have so many cover points, vehicles, smoke, crouch, prone, gas, sheilds i mean fuck.

Edit: when did reaction time to being shot even become a thing? You have a wide fov to shoot anything in front of you and if you get plugged from the side or behind, its your own fault. Its a shooter for gods sake. Stay in a squad or with your team and you die a whole lot less.
