BloodBorne Sales Expectations : What are yours? What Could Sony's be ?

Now that BloodBorne passed the first difficult hurdle any game faces(critical reception),What are we looking at regarding sales in Japan and the rest of the world ?

Is a Miyazaki game officially AAA status ? Will BloodBorne Push PS4 units in Japan while pushing the boundaries that previous Souls games reached ?

Hard to tell. On one hand, the Souls fanbase has grown for sure. On the other hand, it's no longer multi-plat. Whatever it is, I doubt it will disappoint, considering the reviews and the hype all over the internet.

Right now it's sold out on Best Buy and not in stock for Amazon.

I actually tried to buy it today so I could pick it up tomorrow... I have to actually go to the stores to pick it up and hopefully it's there.

Seems to be selling well based on my personal anecdote. I can see it getting 3 million WW.

Dark Souls 2 sold what, like 1.2 million worldwide?

Probably around that ballpark except a bit higher. 1.5 million maybe?

Regular Bloodborne is still in stock on Amazon. The Collector's Edition is sold out though.

Considering its expected sales in Japan (<180k first week), I think it can very well reach a million (digital + retail) in its first month and have a LTD of 2-3 million (because of WOM/Legs), which should be pretty good for a game of this caliber.

That was on three systems, no? This game has cut 66% of its platform base by being an exclusive. Probably less than that, as I believe the Souls games have often sold the most on Sony's platforms, anyway.

1-2 million ish at most.

It'll have the benefit of being a big game on a game starved platform, but it's an exclusive, and one that appeals to a very niche audience at that.

I expect 1 to 2 million.

I figured this would be about it. It will have dedicated sales, but you're not going to see it blow past 5 million I don't think. Could be wrong though.

Dark Souls 2 sales.

This game is a system seller so I expect high numbers for it.

System seller among who though? More "hardcore" gamers such as Gaffers may finally jump in for a PS4, but it's not going to draw general people of they don't already have one.

Probably around half of what Dark Souls 2 did seeing as it's on one console versus 3. Honestly that's just a guess though. I don't know DS2 LTD Sales or anything.

Something around 1.3 million. It's not multiplat but it is the console's first killer app so a lot of the install base will be interested in buying, especially if they see that Metacritic score.

Only the collector's editions are sold out, regular are still available on Amazon and Best Buy

Eh, I think the Souls games are the kind of games where the fanbase would buy a console to play, so install base isn't as hugely important.

Some optimistic numbers here. I hope it does well, and I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but anything close to 4-5 million is a pipe dream.

Even with the previous Souls popularity, they did well for their budgets, not set the charts ablaze.

Hopefully enough to keep Miyazaki in a position in which he can make whatever game his sadistic little heart desires.

Assuming the 20 Million PS4 sold are still somewhat accurate, there's defintively less than 25 Percent of PS4 owners that would be interested with a very hard, somewhat obscure title like this... So I'd say at best 5 Million copies sold...

More realistically, I think Dark Souls 2 was last listed at 1.4 ish Million copies sold, and I'm assuming if you count the rereleases and the steam sales and such, it probably sold about 2 Million copies. Not bad for a niche somewhat masochistic and underground title.

Then again, going from a multiplatform to an exclusive will mean much less sales... I'm guessing it will sell 1.2 to 2 Million copies max.

I'm in no way an analyst though... Then again, considering how often a guy like Pachter is wrong, I will hazard a guess.

How much did the order and infamous sell? I see it selling more than those.

Sony made a mistake with the review embargo now. The hype is even more crazy and they could have milked it if the reviews came early.

I know dark souls was on multiformat. But I see quite a few people buying a ps4 for this.

It will probably top off around 1.5-1.7 million. Reviews could push it past two though, which would be a massive success for Sony.

Didn't Demon's Souls hit 1 mill?
Did it? I can't remember if they ever announced that. I think I remember it kind of being a big deal when it was announced Dark Souls was 1 million plus worldwide, so Demon's Souls might have been lower.

I didn't read the spoilers thread, and I don't have the game.

But I read that the bosses are extremely easy and that there's a graphical downgrade.

The former would guarantee more sales for the wider demographic. Not sure if the latter's true (didn't enter thread, which is now locked).

1.5 m

DaS sold like 2.3 on all 3 if I recall, so I doubt it'll reach that high. But maybe Sony can advertise it better and there is less competition
