Yes, the writting in Witcher games, especially in W2 is one of the best when it comes to videogames in general

One thing I noticed playing PoE is that the writing in general is really really good, and then there are the companions which we know to be written by Avellone and they are on yet another level. The prose is just so much more evocative, and the characters more multilayered. But anyway, I don't want to derail this thread. I just commented because playing PoE right now makes me more cognizant of the shortcomings of the writing in most games than usual.

I found the Witcher games to be excellently written, for the most part. The Avellone worship is getting a bit out of hand. Hear people tell it, he's the only person capable of writing a decent line or two. He's becoming the RPG game Eminem.

I'm sorry, it's just my honest impression. PS:T is the only RPG to ever make me actually care about its characters, and while PoE doesn't quite manage that, it got a lot closer than any other game since MotB. As I said, I don't want to derail the thread so I'll just stop here.

The only thing I did not like about The Witcher 2 is that the world felt too constrained for how epic it was supposed to be. But this is just... holy shit. A quantum leap in the direction that I so wanted to see it go in and way beyond what I was actually expecting coming from The Witcher 2.

Obviously the best kind of magic. I love how unabashedly "masculine" the series can be without being offensive. They do it in that cheeky Game of Thrones style.

Looks good, not as good as some of their earlier stuff but still mightily impressive.

There were some cheesy lines but they're kinda the staple of any RPG and in games with so much much text, they don't bother me.


I liked what we've seen of the bestiary so far. The monsters seem to have a varied moveset/ The deer one even used Mokton: Jukai Koutan !

I know CDProjekt Red is making this accessible to newcomers since its never been on Playstation before and of course a lot of people even on 360 missed Witcher 2. But the Witcher series is very heavy in lore and deep mythos. I'm sure your enjoyment of the world of The Wild Hunt will be much better even if you watch a story recap of at least Witcher 2
