Dwarves, elves, undead all in there. Not a single black character shown. So? I just find that bothering.
Edit: Since you edited your post, I'm not outraged. I just find it distasteful that doesn't mean I won't buy the game.
Choice is yours, as for myself I couldn't care less about those "issues". I want a good game.

Man looking at the youtube video in that link..............the comment section................people will bitch about anything these days.

See above.

I had to.

Ha. Nice.

Trailer looked like console spec settings but impressive overall. This and GTA V, tasty indeed.

Perhaps I should've used /s. Because that was sarcasm. Not to mention that we don't even know if black people will be in the game. Kinda like the pre-order 1886 controversy.

Crossing Eden, you should definitely use /s next time. Most of your other posts on this forum read like sarcasm too but they're actually serious. So I hope you can forgive me for making this mistake.

Reminds me of the backlash against Kingdom: Deliverance, a game based on medieval Bohemia, not having black characters. Ridiculous.

I guess you could count Azar Javed from The Witcher 1 as black although he is more tanned.

That's true, but Azar was from Zerikkania IIRC, which is not included in the game (and is something only vaguely described in the books).

Fans of open worlds games are not going to agree with this at all, but I don't like how this gameplay trailer is all about things you can do rather than how you do them. I see a list of tasks rather than pure gameplay fun.

That said it still looks like a really cool game and I'll certainly give it a go.

Is the combat in Witcher more fun and/or fleshed out than Elder Scrolls?

Combat has always been really bad in Witcher (worst in W1, W2 was just sort of Elder Scrolls boring), but hopefully they fixed it up this time since you're going to be playing it for a million years. It looks decent in the trailers but you never know till you try.

This game shits on a lot of favorites around here *ahem* Bloodborne, Skyrim. The only RPG that can take it's mantle is Dragon's Dogma 2. It's all about control for me. Haven't played Bloodborne, but its combat system is not as robust as TW 2/3 or DD. It's the only thing that prevents BB from being a game I play and worship.

This is by far the most stupid thing i have read in here.

It has two regions, each about the size of or bigger than Skyrim, plus sea exploration. Yes, it is open and absolutely massive.

sounds reasonable. people were speculating it would be like DA;inquisition.
Glad to know it isnt

As far as I know, it is. There are several large, unconnected chunks of land. But those chunks are open world, you just must fast travel between them.

Much like DA:I, but with less segmentation.

I don't know if you're joking but I miss my turn based Fallouts.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT| Two Girls, One Sacrifice

Let's do this.

Never played them back in the day, but the hit detection on the modern fallout/skyrim games are the worst.

Eh? The combat system is the greatest thing about BB/Souls and is by far Witcher's glaring weak point.

Every game shits on Skyrim though.

If we're going to critique the claims relating to realism in The Witcher series, bear in mind that it's not a simple matter of upholding historical or literal realism in the saga.

Take a look at these particular videos from MrBtongue:

Just watched the HQ version and it looks infinitely better than the horribly compressed Youtube version. I have no idea why devs still release so many trailers on Youtube, really.

I know its a trailer and I really don't expect it to be 100% like that but if its even close... I will be so happy to play my first witcher game!

Seems we have different definitions of fantasy.

I think you're confusing "definition" with "opinion". They have one view of what makes something fantasy, you have another. Doesn't mean either of you are wrong. I would have loved to see human characters of different race populating the game world but I wont let it bother me much at all. The game looks fantastic as is.

Actually you have two huge maps (Skellige and No Man's Land) which are seperated by water. Put them too close and it's geographically unrealistic, too far and travelling by boat takes too long. So that's why they decided to go with fast travel between these two maps.

The other maps (prologue, Kaer Morhen, ...) are smaller in size and are geographically far away so they also require fast travel.

This is one of those games I'm super excited over yet have no real reason to be - and it's not that it doesn't look really cool , it's more that I've only ever played about 3 hours of the first game and perhaps 15 minutes of the second game.

I just flat out don't have the time for this big sprawling videogames anymore and it's kind of sad because I really do want to play Wild Hunt but I feel like I have to finish the other 2 first.

Because YouTube reaches the greatest audience imaginable? With all due respect to my favorite guy Blimblim, no one gives a shit or knows about Gamersyde except GAF and other superfan gaming sites.

Nah. You just don't understand the concept of internal consistency within fantasy.

Fantasy doesn't just mean, "Who gives a fuck, just add blank in, its just fantasy right?"

"Why aren't there sharks with laser beams on their heads in Game of Thrones?"

"Why arent there Plasmids in Fallout 3?"

"Why arent there Asian People in Elder Scrolls?"

Etc etc

Not every fantasy lore needs to include every conceivable thing in it just for the sake of having it. That is, as you tried to frame it, not what fantasy is for.

Is the combat in Witcher more fun and/or fleshed out than Elder Scrolls?

I absolutely love The Elder Scrolls series and Skyrim completes my top 3 favourite games of last generation, but The Elder Scrolls must have one of the (if not THE) most boring and flawed combat of all AAA games. So yes, The Witcher 2 and 3 combat is considerably better. Which by the way doesn't mean The Witcher 2 is great. It's pretty sub-par and repetitive, but nothing is worse that The Elder Scrolls' combat.

TL;DR. Combat in both games are not good, but Skyrim's melee combat is close to shit-tier.

On an off-topic side note, Bethesda should ask Arkane to look at the combat for TES6. They've done a great job on first-person combat with Dark Messiah and Dishonored.

Its definitely open world. There are two major land masses, each one is roughly the size of Skyrim. There is a loading screen when you travel between them. It sounds like this is where 90% of the game takes place.

In addition to that there are half a dozen smaller areas that are tied to story progresses.
