Picture would be far far better IMO if he held that mouth tattoo up to his face instead.

Because that's obviously what it will be used for. And it would look crazy.

This truly feels like Leto's gonna have a 30 seconds to mars song on the Suicide Squad soundtrack and shoot like a music video in character or something

feat. Will Smith (dressed as Deadshot)

edge!

I dont think I have an issue with the tattoos as much as I have an issue with the tattoos looking like comic book art

that's some weird-ass 4th wall shit

That's a modern audience for you. I think the same goes for Star Trek, Star Wars, and even some retro video games. People need simple aesthetics to be explained to them. It's annoying to the fan or the person who knows how to enjoy something for what it is. I can only think that the tattoos establish the look and feel, but it makes his new personality shine past that. If anything you can just write it off as being an homage to the character bein portrayed. It could be a very fun film.

This design looks kinda dumb. I was never a fan of his look in TDKR.

My favorite Joker from an aesthetic perspective is Origins:

Dude is menacing as all hell.

he looks like someone who shops at hot topic, thought heath ledgers joker was the greatest performance of our generation, and read the killing joke decided to start dressing up as the joker

I can totally buy hot ass Harley Quinn falling for a Gothy rock star Joker pretty boy with obnoxious tats.

I'm not so beholden to tradition that a different take on the Joker is a travesty.

We've gotten some amazing portrayals of the Joker in both film and animation, and I've learned, after Heath Ledger, to never judge a Joker until I see him. I was so not sold on Ledger until I saw him in action in his first trailer appearance.

I'm more than willing to give Leto the benefit of the doubt.
all the skeptics should take a chill pill and read this.

I knew we were going to get some bullshit ass DeviantArt & 2004 MySpace juggalo vision when Leto was announced as playing The Joker.

Love the look on his face and expression ..... not sure about the tatoos, even if I love what they represent, but this is just lazy way to show that.

Still more worried about Joker being a teamplayer =P

I'm trying to imagine Joker walking into a tattoo parlor and describing what he wants.

Is this movie connected to Batman v Superman? Part of the DCUU?

Yeah, I'm not feeling those cringeworthy tattoos or the grill...

Jared Leto is a competent actor and he'll probably do a good job, but I really don't like the look of this emo rocker Joker.

I don't really like the way they're going with it from just that one picture, but I'm going to reserve judgement for the film when I get to see it all in motion.

You couldn't even tell it was Heath playing The Joker role. It was like The Joker was playing himself. If somebody told me to guess what celebrity that was in the OP pic, I'd say Jared Leto. I can't unsee Rayon from Dallas Buyers Club in that pic because too much Leto comes through.

He's a great actor, though. Looking forward to him trying to take on a roll that was mastered the last time it was on screen.

jesus christ, are you and entertainment marketer from the 90's?

I almost want them to go the Brad Pitt Twelve Monkeys route and have him act much more insane and dangerous than he actually is. It'd be a nice contrast to Ledger's role.

Nah, supposedly he is the only person who as repeatedly crossed paths with Batfleck, and everything described so far of Ben's take is how brutal he is, so I imagine this Joker will probably be even more effective and fucked up than Ledger's in terms of causing havok.

Anyway, again, I like the idea of the tattoos, but they seem like the kind of shit a hardcore Joker stan gets. He looks more like an obsessed Joker fan, than the actual Joker tbh.

I liked a lot about this image at first sight... but one thing that is bugging me is the "Damaged" tat... I just can't imagine the Joker actually sitting down to get this put on him... it doesn't feel like his style AT ALL.

The others I can see happening

At first I was like who the hell is this... then I look at it more, green hair, dark red lips, pale skin, clothes would hide most of those tattoos, and his eyes like f'n crazy... yeah that's the Joker alright, they nailed it while still being different.

His acting is what really matters, really digging the look more and more I look at it.

And that would be fine if this was a one-off. But this is a franchise character that they've ginned up. Can you honestly tell me that you see this character as being taken seriously by what we've seen of Ben Affleck's Batman?

Don't like it at all, but I guess I have to admit that I am biased against Jared Leto, and when I saw the title I already had a negative impression.

I also find the " hahahhahahaha" tattoos to be incredibly stupid

gave himself tats or a colonoscopy .

It's looking really stupid at this stage, I went to see it on film though.

I don't even think it looks bad. It's different. I do think the "damaged" tat is a bit much but other than that it looks fine.

This thing definitely has people divided. Some hate it. Some love it. I think the issue with most people is that they had expectations and this completely shattered them lol.
