Hit and miss for the most part. His longer videos can be good but they take too long to come out and most of his "findings" have already been discussed throughout the Internet.

I agree. He makes good points, but he reiterates everything like a highschool student who has run out of ideas on his essay and tries to hit the wordcount goal.

Btw are the YongYea interviews and videos any good? Worth a watch?

I like some of his videos like the MGO3 trailer analysis, but most of them point out things that have already been discussed in forums etc. As for the interviews, I find them pretty interesting for the most part.

With the exception of Ronin, there's quite a bit of lost spaghetti. Ah hell, even Ronin spills some spaghet. I have a hard time watching with all the cringe. I like Yong, but those interviews give me the willies.

I have to say this about Yong while the fire is still young. Love or hate him, he's created a recognizable persona. He's respected enough where the actors that put these games together for us give him the time of day. His video editing skills are good enough where we can all follow his points. He's got a bright future ahead of him. To write him off is to gravitate into "hater" territory.
His interviewing skills still make me cringe

So he is not a clown then.

lol, this. Yong is not a reliabe source and constructs his theories out of thin air 90 % of the time.

I don't see people citing him as a reliable source. Remember Quartermann from EGM? No one cited those rumors as reliable either. It's more for entertainment value than anything else. If you're not satisfied with his work, I can understand that, but he's go a pretty good thing going on. He saw a want and fulfilled it. He's a really smart guy.

Hm hm.

he's created a recognizable persona.

WHAT'S UP EVERYBODY, IT'S YEEEE YOOOOANNGG HERE

He's respected enough where the actors that put these games together for us give him the time of day.

Technically, that's not really correct. He's not doing these interviews on his own. He's a co-host. I think it's not too hard to get in contact with these people either. I doubt their reasoning for doing these videos is "OMG! YONGYEA?! I know that dude! I watch his videos 24/7! Sure, let's do an interview <3"

For them, YongYea is just a popular youtuber who talks about Metal Gear Solid. He's got 200K subs. I'm sure he's professional in his communication, but that's something I expect from any person. From my experience, being polite and having a good platform will help a lot. Our site has interview many people too, even Miyamoto. For YongYea, it's similar. His youtube channel is similar.

His video editing skills are good enough where we can all follow his points.

PythonSelkan has good video editing skills too, that doesn't make his videos any less crazy. I'm not saying video editing is easy, but decent editing is something most youtubers have these days. I do agree his videos are easy to follow, but that doesn't mean I'm a fan of most of them. I've never been a fan of reaction threads/videos/articles though. And YongYea makes a lot of those.

It's different than, let's say, watching a video about Souls games from ENB or VaatiVidya. Comparing them to Yong, I notice a pretty big difference in knowledge and stuff. When a crazy MGS theory pops up, Yong will have a video. Just like the recent crazy head transplant doctor theory. I remember Yong & that fraggednation guy laughing about PythonSelkan's Gray Fox = Big Boss theories in a previous interview, but here YongYea suddenly starts to believe Big Boss could be Gray Fox. And some of his arguments in that video were silly too. A ton of speculation. And the kind of speculation that is based on... disappointing arguments.

That isn't to say I dislike all of his videos. He's made some good speculation in the past. But some of his recent videos feel like MGS-GAF theories in video form. Not a fan of that.

He's got a bright future ahead of him.

Guess that depends on the future of youtube.

To write him off is to gravitate into "hater" territory.

I don't write him off. In fact, I can't write him off. Worse people than him have made it on youtube. What's to say he won't? That doesn't mean he's good in my eyes. Youtube is a platform where a person like PewDiePie can be most popular. It doesn't mean anything.

His interviewing skills still make me cringe

I'm 50/50 on the interviews. Some of them have some cool information on a couple of actors, but their interview skills could definitely use some improvement. That's not to say they're awful. It's just that the "we're big fans" approach is a little ehhh. Still, good for Yong etc etc

Finally, some opinions!

1. You could simplify his persona with the whole "eeeeyyyyooooonnnngg" bit, but he has a certain way of doing things where he incorporates his personality. He's unique.

2. You do have a point, but I hav my doubts that these VAs would interview with just anyone that has a large subscriber base. For instance, if Python were on the panel, I doubt that these folks would want much to do with any of these interviews. He's got a base and he's pretty straight forward. All of his theories are reasonable enough.

3. Python isn't quite as interactive, and his theories are pretty difficult to follow, particularly if you are new to the series. Yong makes his assertions based on recently available information, making him a bit more approachable.

4. I believe that he has a bright future in media in general based on his skills. His channel is definitely a good press kit for a number of jobs.

5. To address this point would be to infer that I was attacking your sensibilites personally. I despise PewDiePie, but I think there's a lot to be learned from him.

6. I think there's a lot we can agree with on the interviews. We definitely get some new information from them, but the "desperate fan" approach makes me uncomfortable.

Because I suck on modifying avatar, lol XD
Anyway I saw Studio Life and...there was nothing. That news was faulty, I saw half a hour of vegan bullshit and the show ended.

Here you go if you want to use it

I've been trying to find that Studio Life show too and couldn't see the doctor anywhere either
