Some New Fire Emblem If details (new objective types, DLC difficulty, more)

I'm way too excited about the possibility of 2-3 full campaigns to give a shit about what difficulty they are labeled. I can choose to not grind if I think it makes the game too easy.

Nohr sounds better and better. #TeamNohr

Still, might start with Hoshido, else I will probably find the game boring because it will be so easy.

I'm new to the series as of Awakening, but Nohr sounds vastly more like what I'd actually want to play in a sequel versus Hoshido.

I'm thinking I'll just skip the latter barring it sounding notably more promising in the future.
Nohr is what Fire Emblem used to be in terms of map design.

This sounds like it has all the drawbacks of a digital-only game. I don't feel like I can truly OWN this. I'm far behind in the series. I bought Awakening on day 1, just to support it. But, by the time I get to this, will the servers still be there?

I don't know if I can pay for this...

I think there are good odds Nintendo will outlive you dude.
Regardless, I'm sure you'll be able to buy the 'Complete' edition somewhere down the line, if our all-digital future scares you so.

This sounds like they're trying to find a good middle ground and made two games, effectively, on the one hand balanced for hardcore and on the other balanced for people who enjoyed FE:A for things other than the strategical nuances of the other FE games.

Sounds good to me.

Sounds good to me.

If each campaign is unique as they say, we're basically getting two (three?) games at once, and that's pretty awesome.

Ugh... makes me salty since we don't have the new 3DS here in NA so if they don't change that decision, we probably won't get this unless they do something like they did with awakening
Would totally pick that up if Nohr was on top instead of the bottom. The plates are being sold for 2500 yen individually too, more than half the cost of the base game. Seems quite expensive for what doesn't look like a special material model.

Sounds good to me.

And who knows? Maybe it'll be a way to "sucker" the Awakening crowd into trying a more traditional FE, by virtue of the fact that a third of the story is locked behind it.

Nohr will likely have such things as a "no permadeath" option too, for those who want it, anyway, so it'll help ease them in.

Would've figured the third route would be the most difficult considering you aren't allying with any side.
In any case while I like the whole branching narrative thing, I don't really like the Hoshido = Easy Mode, Nohr = Real FE mode.

translation for the full interview or for FEif part only? if the latter, it's basically the stuff in this thread

You can find translations here:

My favourite bit, from the SF translation (which I wrote, wink):

Higuchi is pretty smart.

Fell asleep earlier, but thanks you two!

(You'd think Nohr's side would be the easier side considering one of the leading guys mounts a horse as opposed to the samurai dude. lol Everyone looks stronger!)

(Also, I really hope they improve the design choices you can make on your avatar this time. I am not white and i'd prefer to look similar to how I look in real life! haha)

It seems weird that they would go through the trouble of doing this double version approach and then boast about how one version is inferior to the other. Why would I even want to bother with Hoshido after being told in advance that it won't have good level variety?

They're definitely catering to the players who prefer a more classic approach with Nohr's side. You won't see a vocal group of people defending Hoshido because a lot of hardcore FE players are online on forums like these. I'm not really that hardcore myself so i'll be purchasing both versions if need be. Looks like fun.

I'd imagine a lot of features that remain from Awakening will be present in Hoshido (marriage, grinding, etc) so it'll be perfect for casual players. Personally, I appreciate the diversity IS is offering here.

This.

I don't really care about anything else beyond we get three full Fire Emblem campaigns.

How fucking cool is that.

“Both factions have their own attractive characters, so that will be one of the charms to consider while making your choice,” adds Higuchi.
Looks like they're really gonna play up that waifu aspect. >__>

I do like the sound of more mission objectives. PoR did a good job spicing things up.

Haven't heard anything about marriage or children yet. That bodes well to me for two reasons. One, it hopefully means that not all support convos will end with abrupt and sudden marriage. Two, we hopefully won't have time travel nonsense.

No way marriage is only in one version but not the other, that would be really dumb and also invalidate the push for the Nohr route anyway.

since Aqua>all the other girls anyway and Marx>Ryouma, this is easy

Lol. I don't care. I want it. Come on Nintendo. Announce the regular sized n3DS for the states. It's easy money dammit.

I could smell this post all the way from the GTA V PC thread, it stinks that bad.

No, you're 'expected' to pay full price for a full game and then extra for nearly an entire games worth of extra content, if you feel so inclined.

You people will twist everything stated so far into knots to justify your sentiments. Its asinine.

No.

His post smells of roses.

The only things I had heard of that despise the smell of roses, were vampires.

I now know to add their thralls to that list.

Is that a package that comes with a 16GB microSD? I wonder how big the games are, as that might put a kibosh on the idea that they could just merge the two main stories onto one card for retail in the west.

Marriage is probably in, timetraveling kids probably won't be in.

Totally agree on that. What I meant by my older post was that MORE features from Awakening would be present in Hoshido over Nohr.

I'm very sure the most popular features such as the marriage system will be retained in both versions though. Very, very sure. IS knows their main demographic well. lol

Well, people getting married at the end of the game based on support rank like all the previous FE games will probably happen, but if there's no kids, there will definitely be a decreased focus on it. It was really important that the characters straight out said in their support that they were getting married, because it immediately lead to their child popping up in the world.

The supports will still probably take more of a dating feel, based on the success of FE:A, but I'm fine with that as long as we aren't trying to marry people to produce magical super babies. I didn't hate it in awakening, but I think I've had my fill of that gimmick.

Time traveling babies and the general rushed pace of the latter half of Awakening really hurts it story. They really wanted to make the first gen and second gen concurrent unlike Seisen, and the solution they found out wasn't elegant enough. I doubt they'll try it again.

So the game's rated C15 in japan, Awakening was B12, IIRC. What does C15 generally convert to? Or is it kinda random in that regard?

Beautiful, can't wait for people to complain about the thigh shot though.

It's fine, it's not forced to a comedic degree.

The third path really should have been the most difficult. It makes more sense from the narrative perspective, since it should be harder to fight by yourself against two more powerful enemies.

That looks lovely. Great design without being too overly sexualized.

Awakening only revealed marriage and children when they did a full reveal of the game's features in late commercials and in depth video.

Considering how Hoshido seem to exist just to be Awakening 2.0, I think it's getting more and more likely that we'll have children again just to carry on all of Awakening's features. Of course, that means that Nohr would need some kind of equivalent feature, but I guess they could be just post-game or something.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Nohr overall just be a smaller game, I mean it already is without field battles and world map traversal.

Yeah, Awakening first revealed children pretty late in the news cycle. IIRC, we didn't know about children until Awakening got Television commercials circulating.
