New Assassin's Creed game (Victory, now Syndicate) to be revealed on May 12th

people are still yapping over the accents =.=

if Unity had english with french accents everyone would be giggling and making even more jokes about the game all the time (like they are during a ubisoft press conference) because it sounds stupid, silly and lame. If you want an immersive experience you put the game on the audio language of its setting (french) with english subtitles....

Everyone has an accent. The accents are british because they had brits do the voice over. If they had americans do it you would be crying over american accents in a european country or sth like that.

Not to be a grumpy gus but after that abortion called Unity and the horrendous performance issues, required apps, glitches and overall clusterfuckery, I'm gonna go ahead and wait for reviews on this one.

syndicate? syndicate? does that term hold any meaning in relation to the industrial revolution? seems more of a late 20th century thing to me. wth.

Well, the Oxford English Dictionary defines a syndicate as:

A group of individuals or organizations combined to promote some common interest.

You could say the Assassins are a syndicate. It also could be referring to crime syndicates and the like.

I think you will be playing as Ice-T and be part of his rhyme syndicate.

I hope they show more than CGI. We already know that it plays in London.

Concerning Last gen, why don't take the world of AC I and produce another game in it? Should be cheap to make.

Usually I'd be all over this with the Victorian Era design, but Assassin's Creed hasn't been interesting for me in a pretty long time now. I was very hyped for Unity because everything felt like it would be the fresh start the series needed, but it was basically just an improvement in the graphics department. Core gameplay didn't change for shit, and I don't expect Victory to do it either.

TL;DR - Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Ok, the basics:

- Kill the ridiculous and useless "huge crowds" thing.
- Kill co-op. It didn't work, it wasn't creative, and it simply wasn't fun. Keep iterating on the interesting and creative multiplayer the series was building on before.
- A better map. The scale of Paris was often impressive, but the actual meat and potatoes of the level design itself was rote, safe, and boring.
- The combat was somehow more awful than ever. Revamp it completely (and I do mean COMPLETELY) again, or just go back to the simple stuff it had before.
- Whether through input lag or just plain wonky controls, the up/down new method of parkour did not work well. Scrap it or rework it.

There is a LOT that I need to see before I give this game a chance. Even at $12 AC Unity was a colossal disappointment.

Interesting criticisms; I haven't really followed the game, but I'd not read these things before. I was kind of intending on getting it when the PS4 price has dropped low (about £12) but based on your comments I think it would annoy me and I might just give it a wide berth altogether.

that whole skills unlock thing in Unity pissed me off so much, doing co-op missions just to unlock points to unlock skills.....I hope they fix everything that was wrong about Unity....because I really did like the concept of it and the atmosphere in the game.

If the present day is the same load of horse shit we've gotten over the last couple games i'll be very disappointed.

I enjoyed the modern timeline with Desmond but Ubi have fucked that up so much.

I liked Unity so looking forward to this. Better stealth mechanics and console performance would be welcome though

I would love the irony if the characters in this one had a French accent, to balance all the French being very English last time around.

They were English in the English dub. It was a dub.

The way they handled it in the previous games was what was more ridiculous. Making them all have heavy stereotypical accents and throw in random phrases in their mother tongue just looked like they were all trying to practice their English skills on a national level or some shit. It was dumb.

Hoping for a non-CG trailer. Show real gameplay and disclose what system its running on somewhere in the trailer.

I like the look of the setting of this AC... Only problem is whether Ubi can deliver on a few things...
Not gimping the PS4 version to "avoid debates"
Not releasing a buggy mess on launch
Not littering it with micro-transactions
Preferably not have more than like 3 editions (though not as major as the other things)

If they can do that, it's looking more hopeful I'll jump back in

Well Unity bombed critically and definitely made me less excited of the franchise after the fantastic Black Flag. At this point it just seems pointless to get excited for new AC when there will be another the following.

I still wish they never had the present day nonsense and went with a more "Zelda" route with each game being loosely connected with their respective time periods.

Best wishes.

Er, they do this in Unity.

The characters are constantly using french phrases and words spliced in with English.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Hmm I wonder if they'll finally figure out what an analog stick is used for in this one...

I've bought all the (not mobile) AC games, I will not buy this. Even if people are singing its praises, I don't fucking care.

I doubt we'll get any gameplay before E3.

I agree. However, they know by now that people usually complain that the trailer is CG. Hopefully they avoid their yearly fumble in their reveal trailers (Watch Dogs, I am looking at you).

How can they milk it to this extent and still get away with it? It's become even worse than Call of duty games, and that's no easy feat.

Congratulations Ubisoft you fuckers.

Stopped playing at around Revelations/3, since it seemed like Ubi were running out of steam. Wonder how much it evolved from then, but I assume not by much, if at all.

Eh, even if it's CG I'm cool with it just because Ubisoft at the very least makes some fantastic trailers for the AC games. We'll see gameplay in a month anyways so it's all good.

Another Assassin's Creed game? Really? Didn't Unity just come out not too long ago? Jesus H they are really milking this franchise. The last Assassin' Creed I played was AS3, and that was fun for all of 2 hours.

Err, clearly you haven't been paying attention to the release schedule the franchise has.

Hmmm not sure why you're acting surprised.

A yearly AssCreed is as inevitable as a new COD.

I always liked the modern-day plot portion of Assassin's Creed. As soon as Ubisoft gave up on that, I stopped caring about the series altogether.

Not so much surprise as I am dumbfounded that they can pump out AssCreeds game at the rate that they are. I mean Ubisoft might as well be labeled "The asscreed factory"

But they still make a lot of other games... Why the surprise, its the same with every annual franchise, from sports to shooters. At least its different and we got this open world adventure game.
