I was hoping they might go back to tweak the faces again.
Sadly, Tidus still looks like he's having an allergic reaction, with his super puffy cheeks.
Among other problems. =/

The rest of the game looks great, but I'm not sure I want to see that my entire time playing the game again.

Did they fix the NPC models?

I remember on PS3 the main characters had high resolution models while the NPCs were stuck in their PS2 models, it looked very jarring.

Any more tech spec info on this?

It's out in a few days.

>< All i ask is 1440p downsampled, please SE, you know you can easily do it

*edit*

Someone get the pixel counters!

They specifically highlighted improving enemy models as well as NPC models for this version, so probably so

Holycrap it looks fantastic.

Still, will only buy a bit later after a discount. Can't chug the full fee at the moment.

Any recommendations for someone that will be playing FFX for the first time with this PS4 port?

Be sure to collect all the hidden treasures during the cloister of trials. Each cloister has one special treasure you can get by using a "destruction sphere". You don't want to miss out on the reward for getting the entire set because it is pretty incredible. None of them are missable exactly, but after a certain point late in the game it might be hard to go back and get them. Kinda being vague since you haven't played. tldr: Get the treasure found by using a destruction sphere from each of the cloister of trials before leaving them.

Yes it does. I bought all versions of FFX (the north american versions anyway).

PS4 version can load those cloud saves transferred from other systems.

Trophy list is shared with PS4/PS3/Vita having the same combined list of trophies.

SCREW YOU!!! You just made me waste money earlier than I anticipated. ;_;

That really is above what the PS3 version was. Amazing!!

SE and 30fps go together like bread and butter. That is to say, yes, it is 30fps.

Although a game like FFX would not change going to 60

Gameplay wouldn't change. Saying the game wouldn't change with a smoother framerate on the other hand is saying the game wouldn't benefit from HD resolution.

You're not forced to play the superior game.

Even more linear, check.
Even more insane plot, check.
Even crazier fucking pop music stuff, check.
No party choice, check.

The game is gash, and not superior to anything much at all, except perhaps 13-2.

There's just no benefit. Atleast with FPS and sim racers there's superior controller response as a net positive. It matters little in a game where your just tapping commands 99% of the time IMO

"Arg, if only my hundreds of button presses to skip Rikku's overly long and drawn out sphere grid tutorial was perfectly aligned with the smoothness of the screen!"

Omg at saying X-2 is linear. lol

And there is a lot more party members with creature creation now.

It has 3 party members, just like 13-2 has two party members. Letting me stick monsters in the fight doesn't begin to make up for that fact. It has been a while since I played it, but my recollection is of corridors broken vertically to make it look like I actually have any choice where I go in an area. I may be able to choose which areas I fly too, but their contents is incredibly restrictive. I have not however ever played the final missions and such.

Each area may be a bit linear (just like lots of other FFs) but in terms of mission order, Man, it's the least linear RPG I've ever played. You have free reign right from the start and can really have a vastly different experience every time you play.

Gameplay-wise, X-2 is the antithesis of X in so many ways. They really do complement each other well even if the story is a bit of a turd in the sequel.

Suddenly I got the urge to buy a PS4 copy. Damn. But I'll probably hold off while it get cheaper.

So like Mass Effect then ?

I have never played a Mass Effect game. I have only watched my partner do so on occasions.

I do own it on Vita and my last play was when it came out on PS2, so perhaps my opinion would be different now, but my recollections of the game are not good at all, and at that time I adored FF games.

EDIT: I was just Tweeted telling me my view of X-2 being more linear is factually incorrect. You mofos going to make me play it again aren't you? I should thank you in advance for my suffering.

Just turn your brain off - it has one of the more enjoyably experimental combat systems, and people weren't kidding when they said "do whatever the hell you want". You could rush through the 'main story' of each chapter and miss out about 80% of the content.

It's not.

Since this isn't a shooter, having higher precision from HD's increased resolution also provides no benefit.

If more people would read Hexadrive's comments on why FF Type-0 would not have 60fps then they would come to understand why FFX does not either.

Or think Resident Evil 4 where PC version finally has 60fps but with some minor bugs still.

Or think Dark Souls 2 with the weapon durability issues.

Very nice.

Any shots of the battle system? CANT WAIT TO PLAY THIS BATTLE SYSTEM IN FULL ON HD.

Hopefully they enhanced the summon models and cinematics

Oh, I'm well aware You might as well throw emulated PS2 KH2 having wonky gravity when using the 60fps hack into that list. And Valkyria Chronicles on Steam (lol)

I'm discussing how "60fps does nothing for turn-based gameplay" is a very similar to "a higher resolution does nothing for gameplay", neither of which are (subjectively) correct. A better looking game is a better looking game.

wonder how 60 fps would change the chocobo race, i'm sure it'd throw me off my groove since I can do that thing instantly after 2 tries.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
This is the only PS2 Remaster to date on current gen?
Hopefully we'll get more in the future because the results are great.
I hope we get another Silent Hill Remastered and Haunting Ground would be nice too.
