I could see where you are getting at but I really think it's a stretch that is what he was intoning. It really reads more that he's excited than annoyed about overhype..
I'd expect if he was doing an implication like what you said, the phrasing would be a little more like, "Oh man... that hype" implying a specific hype (like the overhype of the game. Not just hype which implies he's hyped up).
They addressed it on twitter, it is genuine hype, not negative one.
