What happens to the sheep? xD

Awesome scene. I wonder if the sheep have hair works on PC. Given the nature of Sheep wool, I feel like this would be hard to do...

No idea what I'll do with the hud yet, probably turn everything off one by one and see what I like.
Rotating mini map on is a must though!

This is what I'd like. Give me hints on where to go so I can try to figure it out on my own. And let the quest markers be for when I have given up.

It makes it feel more like you're exploring a world, there's a better sense of adventure...rather than you're in a world that your character seems to have complete psychic knowledge of exactly where everything is somehow

I feel like it's an acceptable way of rendering the difference between you and Geralt though. Geralt *does* know the land and the people already. This isn't some weird place he's never been.

They need to convey his comfort with the world as well as making a game out of you exploring.

I'm certain there's a middle ground. Maybe if they say "Go to x major city" and he knows the way, fine, quest marker. But if it's some cave out in the wilderness, have you go look for it.

I actually *mostly* like quest markers so I know where not to go. Makes it easier to deliberately choose between fucking around exploring, and addressing actual quests.

Dammit. Just found out my gamestop isn't listed as having a midnight release. I would go somewhere else but I got one of the last CE Pre-orders. I don't suppose I can move that pre-order to another store, huh? :/

Yeah, that's why I said have the option for both earlier, give directions so you can find it without the marker and have the option to turn off markers in the HUD settings for people who want to explore, and the quest markers are still there for those who don't. I'm hoping Fallout 4 will do this, but I won't hold my breath.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
This is the absolutely best way to do it imo. Make HUD elements an actual part of the game. It would be great if Geralt pulled out a map and/or compass when the player wants to see where they're going, or a journal when the player wants to go into certain menu options or to see their current objective. I really hope devs start moving more towards in-game HUDs this gen.

Pretty much. Games are visual, audio, interactive mediums. The more you can communicate via these means cohesively with the game systems, in most (but not all) cases the better.

That being said I'm surprised people hate the Wild Hunt HUD so much. I actually don't mind it it all, and think by and large it's quite minimalist, simple, and not intrusive. But I say this also with the knowledge it can be heavily customised, which I'll be doing to turn off redundant displays that can be coherently communicated via game systems (eg: horse stamina probably doesn't need a bar).

Other stuff I'll keep on. Witcher sense has copped flack but I don't see it as any different from the medallion in TW2. It's okay for games to highlight points of interest if spotting those points of interest is difficult. Tracking is a really good example. In most games, like The Witcher, you're playing as an expert tracker who is able to see, hear, smell, and sense things a normal person cannot. Doesn't matter how immerse you want to make it by turning shit off; you, the player, will never be as good as Geralt is supposed to be. Witcher sense highlighting tacks is not hand holdy, it's Geralt's experience and superior senses conveyed as a game system since there's really no other way to do it. There's obviously a line that can be crossed where it becomes too hand holdy, but I don't see Witcher sense as that at all. In the above example, you have people turn it off then complain that they couldn't find the tracks or it was too difficult. No shit; tracking isn't easy and you're not a tracker.

I'll tinker with some of the map icons too. Turn off all the tutorial-like button indicators of course. Otherwise yeah, really not fussed with the HUD. But I'll be playing with contextual fading on anyway.

Lol what happens to the sheep? It continues to give no fucks whatsoever. Lets see you stand perfectly still when a giant winged monster lands at your feet.

If you guys havent watched the 20 minute Angry Joe preview on this game, watch it. Fantastic info. I can't pull up the link at work otherwise i'd provide it.

I'm not convinced it's stuffed. I swear I can see it's head turn from the right back to staring straight ahead. I think I'm going crazy...

Could that sheep be a fake? Some kind of bait to haunt the dragon?

The people stuff the sheep with sulfur, so that when the monster eats it it will die.

The do the same thing with the Kraken in TW2.

The sheep might have his feet strap down or already dead for all we know.

Since when is Witcher 3 $32 on GOG? It's $52 right now.

I don't even remember what i paid it was whatever GOG was charging when it first went up for pre-order.

For me it is 32 Euros.. I have TW1 and TW2.. and I'm from Slovakia, so maybe it's the price for CE countries .. but I have pre-ordered the CE anyway for 130 Euros

O.0' thanks

It's from an old Polish legend about the Wawel dragon, which was defeated by a shoemaker who put a sheep stuffed with sulfur next to the dragon's lair. Wawel dragon then ate the sheep which gave him heartburn so strong that he drank all of the water in Vistula river and burst into pieces.
