I always thought FFVII sold more in the US.
That Tekken 3 number is very impressive.
Yeah, what's the deal with Frogger?Frogger tha god
Yeah, what's the deal with Frogger?
Count how many of those titles would sell today.
Vice City sold more than San Andreas? Never would have guessed. Interesting stuff.
Man, madden was huge during the PS2 era.
Also interesting how big Square was during that time.

Since nobody cares about posting old NPD data anymore, here are N64's million sellers as of 2003, for kicks:
Yeah, what's the deal with Frogger?
As of 2008, NPD adjusted a lot of numbers and include all releases including bundles etc....
What's Namco Museum vol.3 doing up there.
So these are not lifetime sales.........
not a single 3rd party game cracked 2 million lol
Most wouldn't even get made today, which in part is related to the sales of course.Count how many of those titles would sell today.
It's the one with Tower Of Druaga.
Crash Bandicoot selling more than Final Fantasy VII puts things into perspective.
not a single PS1 game sold more than 4 million lolnot a single 3rd party game cracked 2 million lol
Instead we'd get like 10 titles selling 9+ million.
Selling a million back then was a pretty shit-hot achievement, though.
not a single PS1 game sold more than 4 million lol
never knew ace combat 4 was that big in the us
Count how many of those titles would sell today.
not a single PS1 game sold more than 4 million lol
still, compare it to the PS1 list. PS1/N64 was the gen where 3rd parties fled from nintendo en masse.
It was a sarcastic post. With such a huge userbase comprising different tastes, and such a broad selection of software, the PSone numbers are really good. They only look slight against the N64's heavy hitters because the N64 userbase and software range was smaller, meaning less people with less games to choose from, and also because the quartet of SM64, Goldeneye 007, Mario Kart 64 and Ocarina were that good.
It's also a good argument as to why you don't always need big install bases for strong software sales (although it inevitably helps).
