Yeah the ini files certainly show loads of promise. We just don't know what the hardcoded max values are, if any.
My day 1 plan is to start at default uber at 4k60 and keep tuning, especially things like memory budget, textures, shadow scaling, foliage density, foliage distance & LOD, all of which have separate adjustable values for low/medium/high/uber presets, which in turn implies they are not entirely hard coded within the assets. Step 2 would be to get to the 2014 demo area so that I could experiment with some 1:1 comparisons and find if they meet, exceed or fall short of that baseline. Step 3 would be to go back further and compare with SoD and VGX trailers, which would certainly shed light on more significant changes that happened. Will post it all here and see where the discussion goes. Given how passionate (and sometimes downright obnoxious) people are becoming on both sides of the debate, I'll be happy to stay neutral and serve delicious crow either way!
