NPD Sales Results for April 2015 [Up1: Xbox One #1]

People should remember that April is a slow month.

There's almost no way that this "victory" in April was by more than 50k units. Both seem to be below 200k this month.

Sure, its a slow month for both consoles, but what would have pulled the Xbone ahead of PS4 this past month, and not say February or January?

I love all the front loaded post's about Bloodborne. No one is taking into consideration that a huge game released last month that had more hype, and was being XBox promoted; Mortal Kombat X anyone?

Let's see how digital sales and some of May sales show up In June.

The game has legs, it's still streamed a lot.

It would seem Nintendo can sell games to owners of their systems but the limited release schedule has a much harder time getting people to buy the hardware. At the very least it would seem XCX might actually move something in NA.

If you thought Bloodborne would be a mega hit you literally thought the reason Dark Souls did not sell well was it was too visually poor for people to be interested.

Does Xbox get Minecraft DLC that Playstation doesn't? It might sound silly, but I wouldn't be surprised if something like that tipped the scales in a tight race. Minecraft is that huge.

I was thinking that maybe the Windows 10 event boosted the sales of the xbox one ! streaming games on pc and all that stuff is appealing , but then again windows10 has not been released yet ... Anyway good news for gamers, competition never hurts !

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
There's a history of big releases boosting console sales, I'm honestly not sure if you mistyped what you intended on saying.

What I find especially odd is that the PS4 was doing really well, 1st place seemingly every month and now right after BB it's second. It seems to be an anomaly until MS can string together meaningful consecutive months so there's nothing really to read here imo.

I believe BB did boost sales, in March. They just calmed down in the month of April. Not sure what is hard to understand about that.

MKX had Sony co-marketing...

lol, I'm sure they're absolutely reeling from this one month of being randomly and slightly outsold. Your vengeance has been felt Gurish.
Yea whatever, they don't care and are too busy counting the money right? we all know what can happen if you are getting too cocky, maybe this gen is settled but it can bite them eventually.

If they will continue to not invest in exclusives and quality AAA they will sell much less than they are aiming and it can bite them when they'll release their next console too.

gtav is just ridiculous

nintendo hasn't really done much with the n3ds yet, not surprising it's not making much impact.

Nice to see Scholar of the first sin chart.

I wonder what caused XBO bump. Did they offer any nice bundles? From what little I remember reading in the prediction thread, it seems most people expected a PS4 win.

That's true, but a lot of the time XB1 takes the mainstream games crown.

Even so, 100 thousand+ is not good for any of them. Some more games would do nicely

Most non-FPS games fall PS4 more often than not. Call of Duty and Battlefield will usually skew XB1 in the U.S., but those are the exceptions.

And BF:Hardline numbers on the stats page are still usually PS4 2:1 over the XB1. http://bfhstats.com/

GTAV sales are so insane, this long and it's still #2.

Cool to still see Smash up there too, would have expected it to drop off by now.

The only explanation, the only one possible, is that there has been a full month of Halo MCC bundle. it's the only explanation, because PS4 even won software.

It's amazing, Halo is still very strong.
Good theory. Bundle didn't seem to do that well on Amazon but I guess thats why we have NPD tracking.

I think it's still too early, but there will be some ramp up due to halo 5. Who knows? If Sony doesnt come out of E3 with a compelling list of big games this year
, you may see some choose an xbox this year and wait for PS4 next year. It wouldnt be out of the realm of possibility.
I dont really think thats what happened in april, but we could see something like this happening again before the holidays.

I guess.

Honestly, if you just showed me the software sales, I would say PS4 won.

agreed, I guess the combination of the sales went xbox way, it must have been pretty close though.

xbox one - best seller hardline , COD

ps4 - best sellers on fighter, rpg,

some things never change lol.

very surprising. Bloodborne had little effect, and MS ended up winning despite any major releases.

i didnt see that coming at all. well done to MS. I am not sure what did it, but Sony should be rethinking their strategy in NA, because this should have been an easy win for ps4.

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
Sony really needs to drop an immediate price cut at E3.

I am shocked. Didnt see Xbox One taking this month. Sad about not seeing Bloodborne in the list. Please let this not impact its sequel or dlc.

Congrats Microsoft I guess

Yet the ps4 version sold more. So don't know what your getting at?

I think MK only had promotion for the Xbox exclusive online Tournament. By all intent though I think it was soft marketed for PS4. Especially since it sold more on that system.
