police chases again? :(

hope they have figured out how to make those fun in an open world and not so annoying I stop playing all together.

Immersive street racing narrative aka B-grade acting with cringe inducing dialogue from characters trying to be "urban".

Graphics look like they're squarely aiming for 30fps again too.

I didn't realize there was a single person expecting this to be 60 FPS especially after that trailer. We're talking about a series that had a 30 FPS lock on PC

Last time I checked, there've been 60FPS NFS games on PC, Underground and Underground 2, just to name some...

So uh

They announced a few days ago that today they would announce an announcement of an announcement? Is this a new record?

Also I'll believe that "in-game footage" when I see it.

I actually believe it when they say that's all in-game. No doubt they'll have some CG cut scenes in the game when it launces.

Well, I guess I'm just a sick of misleading "in-game" trailers and thought they'd know better. It's been happening all this gen so one would think some devs might learn not to.

Holding out hope for EA to cut the BS and come straight is very noble. Naive, but noble.

Well at least they're starting to be a lot clearer with their statements regarding the released content.

Now we wait to judge their honesty!

They said it doesn't have a sub title yet, not that it will just be called "Need for Speed".

Underground 1 on GCN at 60fps was amazing. Sucks this will be 30fps.

Since this is basically Criterion, I'm expecting NFS Underground: Burnout Edition.

I knew it was gonna be open-world, though I was hoping to be wrong. That's a big ol' NO on this game, regardless of how it looks or what the feature set is.

This trailer makes me sad and mad on so many levels:

- Open world racing.... :(
- Yoyoyo Fast and Furious what the fuu... wassup y'aaaaalll .... :(
- Unrealistic graphics as to what I'll have on my tv. ... :(

Anyway... I miss Burnout :(

I never found any of these driving games with open worlds fun. Feels like a glorified hub every time and only that. Just let me get to the race, I don't like driving somewhere to start a race, it doesn't do anything. That's me though but, yeah.

Maybe a game will come a long and make me like open world driving games in terms of the open world.
Of what? I guess "Reboot" is a PR word now.

Need for Speed.

I agree with you though since the franchise has a bunch of sub series like Shift, Underground , Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted that I don't get it myself

A reboot that is open world and featuring night races only? WTF? Why not just call it NFSU3?

Damn... this made me sad.

Edit: day-to-night makes it less worse.

Honestly... we have only two options. They're the worst, or they're the best.
If Need for Speed and Star Wars end up looking as good as the trailers, that will be simply amazing, and very "next gen" stuff. I don't believe in neither though...

So day-time as well? What do the Underground fans think of this? Just curious.

I will so buy this game, but don't know if it'll be more popular online on PC or PS4.

It's a day-to-night racer though.

This year's Need for Speed game is a "full reboot" of the iconic racing series, and is due to launch this fall for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, developer Ghost Games announced today,

What we do now know are high-level points about the new Need for Speed game. First, the game (which is inspired by the Underground series but doesn't have a name yet) will be an open-world, day-to-night racer featuring "deep customization," car culture by way of a partnership with EA's own Speedhunters, and even an "immersive narrative" that Ghost says will pull players through the game.

no name yet

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Sorry but that looks nothing like Underground. Why the fuck are there cops? Every NFS needs to have cop? Fuck.

More of a teaser than a trailer really. And lol @ everything captured ingame mumbo jumbo. We'll all see gameplay footage within a month or much sooner; hoping they do knock it out of the park though.

I switched up the OP to link to the press release instead since GameSpot had a variety of incorrect information.

Apparently it's difficult for them to read a press release correctly.
