I think it's because the cape looks like shoulder pads in the Arkham Knight promo, looks stiff as hell. Kind of a weird angle, I guess.

I think a lot of the additional detail to the suit and Batman limits them. Like the increased facial animation detail meaning that the faces have to stay somewhat consistent. And the fact that Batman's cape is tucked into the shoulder pads in his Arkham Knight suit meaning that the same must be done in skins due to the animations.

EDIT:

Actually, that would explain the face of the Batman Beyond skin. It's like they just decided to paint the mouth area in black paint so that it could still animate as it would normally.

Now that the Arkham Trilogy is done, Terry should get his own game. Instead of just being a costume.

I don't like the militarized aspect of the Beyond suit, it is clearly a riff on the Arkham Knight design. It strikes me as lazy and uninspired. I'm not in love with the TDKR one either, but I've never been a huge fan of Miller's TDKR/TDKSA Bat design.

The Arkham franchise will continue to be milked past the trilogy's end, don't you worry.

I'm sure more prequels and going into the future with a Batman Beyond game are all things WB wants to make happen.

Put this suit on the AK Batman and it would look like shit. Bruce can't rock the BB suit. Looked awful in the other games.

As much as I'd like a proper beyond suit, it really wouldn't work for the Arkham artstyle. Adding definition ruins the thing. What they've got here is okay.
