Transformers |OT| Transform and roll out...

Haven't put a model together in about 20yrs. Lol. Can you give me an idea on the color paint she used for the Matrix? If I decide to get this I was also going to paint his smoke stacks silver and the front of his legs silver.

I believe it comes in all gold, so it requires silver on the handles and a little blop of electric blue in the center.

I just transformed Apollyon for the first time and man, that is just a horrible process. He does looks good in robot mode and I guess a transformation like that might be necessary to achieve that look, but I certainly won't ever be transforming him again and if it wasn't for the fact that I need to transform all my figures at least once out of principle I would never have done it at all.

Same here.

I broke off the gun barrel during my transformation :( I need to find a right size screw so I can replace it. Also now the left leg keeps coming loose from the crotch connection. Ugh.

It's still one of my favorite Primes, even though I've complained about cheating transformations, and classics prime definitely fits the bill. Takara's Henkei Prime kills the deco of Classics, but looks like you will pay ~$50 more for it ATM.

Actually looking at current prices on both not sure either is really worth it. Yeesh. But that's just me of course!

I really like it. I find the proportions much, much better than CW Prime. CW Prime is still a fun figure, but he doesn't feel like a Prime figure. He feels like Motormaster masquerading as a Prime.

It's old and newer reissues of the mold are prone to some degradation (I know that even by the time UM came out, his arm ratchets weren't really working), but it's such a cool toy.
thanks for both these answers, my birthday is next month so i'll probaby buy some version of the mold as a gift for myself

Got my Apollyon, I am afraid to transform it.

I transformed mine, I had to force several areas that made very loud cracking noises to get them in to place. I didn't actually damage it, maybe internal bits of plastic sheered off but it nothing that impairs it. But damn it a scary combination of complicated design, fragile parts and a manufacture that doesn't have the best record in regards to QA.

My advice if your sticking Megs on a shelf just put him on it. Gun mode is a bit meh anyway.

Yea transformed Apollyon, what a nightmare, and it really doesn't feel like it goes together smoothly at all, some parts just don't fit tight at all. Gun mode is also kinda silly looking with how big it is. Said it before but doubt anyone will be able to make a perfect G1 megs because of the transformation into a gun. Proper scale and megatron just is all wrong proportion wise, here they nearly doubled the size of the gun to make him scale right. It's a nice display piece in bot mode, but yea its a big disappointment otherwise.

Let's face it, when it comes to an MP G1 Megatron, you're buying a robot to go on the shelf next to MP-10, gun mode be damned. Apollyon's probably the best we're going to get for a very long while.

So, not sure if anyone's heard, but the TakaraTomy release of Defensor will include a Deluxe Groove.

And also be a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive...

I just saw. And it's just after BBTS added Hot Spot to my pile of loot. Does anyone know if you can cancel items that are in the pile? I think I could wait and get a proper set instead, rather than this "Rook" thing.

Edit: Looks like I can only cancel Hot Spot+Cyclonus, the others are stuck either way. Guess I'm getting them.

Think he looks pretty good, I assume that's a properly built Devastator unlike some of the previous pics.

Yeah, it's an SDCC promo pic. Posing him seems to make a big difference. He has some stickers/detailing the previous shots didn't have. Hopefully that's on the normal toy, too, and not just the SDCC one, because I really don't want to hack my way through the Hasbro exclusives line at that stupid convention again.

Even if you could cancel, you shouldn't, because Rook is awesome.

I'm definitely interested in that little Windblade. It really captures Stone's art in a fantastic way. I'm sure the figure came first. but man Hasbro messed up by not basing Windblades colors (particularly the face) on her artwork.

Has anyone else been trying to register for BotCon?

This whole thing has been such a big joke. How the official TF Convenation can't get their shit together, but the fan run TFcon has registration set up already is crazy.

This is supposed to be my first convention as a vendor, and being in by own back yard is big for me. But the thought of not as many people going because not only did they choose a bizarre location but because some people are going to stop caring because of their issues really stings :(

You guys seen this? An MP-style Jazz was announced by a new company TNR (Transform & Rollout). Due out this year.

Available for preorder at many toy stores

Hasbro has let a lot of 3rd party stuff slide, but that Jazz must be a punch in the gut for them. They've tried to work with Porsche before, but Porsche wouldn't grant them the license, and now these guys are going to do it anyways. I'm sure we'd have an MP Jazz by now if Porsche were more cooperative, maybe they'll change their minds like VW?

Something about that Jazz sculpt doesn't sit right with me. Think it's something about the legs. Every MP-style 3rd party besides the recent Dinobots have had this for me, though. No one besides Takara can nail it.

It's actually Takara that has opened up a lot of licensing deals. When they merged with Tomy, they gained a prominent model car line in Tomica. This gave them a ton of ins at car companies they didn't previously have. Also, Porsche is owned by VW. Lamborghini, who was the first big MP license, is as well. They do manage their own brand, so it's still possible they'll say no, but not licensing their brand for "war" toys was a decision that seems to have been mandated by the VW higher ups. If VW has changed that, Porsche seems like an easy next get.

Interesting, I didn't know that, thanks for the info! Hopefully Porsche changes their stance in the near future.

Still, it must be frustrating to have to jump through all those legal hoops while a bunch of no-namers get away with making the toy I'm sure the designers at TakaraTomy have been dreaming up for some time now.

Just got the best version of Windblade... :D

A bit too tiny for my tastes. Does anyone in here paint their figures? I'm currently painting a Hasbro Windblade, mostly adding a lot of red to the wings (much like that version or the Takara version) to better hide the legs and such. I also painted her lips and it's a marked improvement; I'm considering repainting her entire face, but I'm not sure of that yet...

It's amazing how a few well-placed details can liven up a figure immensely. I just painted Animated Arcee's lips red and her fingers light gray and it makes a world of difference.

in the last few days/week I've managed to increase my TF trades library, and I'm very happy about it!!

I now own:

Phase 1 omnibus
MTMTE vol 1-6
Dark Cybertron vol 1, 2
UK Classic 3-5
Classic 3-8

only a few more volumes of the classics, UK to go until I'm all caught up!

FYI I'm not collecting RiD in trade...I just haven't enjoyed the series like I've enjoyed all the others. I'll probably start wokring on older IDW stuff in trade, like where the omnibus leaves off until the death of OP and the creation of RiD and MTMTE.

Got my 3rd party Fort max finally, was held up in my preorder stack for something else. Overall really solid piece, wish it came with the master sword though.

All the joints are very tough, which kinda scares me when posing and moving anything. I love that the joins are tight, but they seem overly tight on this that it causes worry.

Who makes this?

Finally got last part for Warbotron bruticus. Pretty solid quality all around for Warbotron, but it's odd my main problem I have with it, is that you can't turn Bruticus' head..... what a bummer

Who makes this?

Toyworld. They also have alternate colors if you like Grand Maximus instead.

Unfortunately, the anti-war toy stance was very much Porsche's own. VW had a similar policy, but they have no say over what Porsche does with their brand. Hopefully the fact that numerous car manufacturers have been involved with the TF movies and nobody has accused them of being warmongers will help nudge Porsche into doing the right thing.

He most certainly can turn his head. He'd be giving you such the stink-eye if you could see his eyes.

Reminds me, what are all the extra pieces that come with Fierce Attack? Why is there an extra Blast Off torso?

Because the original release of Blast Off had defective landing gear in the chest and non-ratcheting hip joints. Without the ratchets, the joints are too weak to hold up the gigantic gun in arm mode. So the extra torso fixes those issues. You have to take the figure apart and swap everything over to the new torso, but it is a much better figure as a result. The little yellow pieces are replacement ratchets for the Bruticus ankle tilts, which can snap if they're not seated properly. The missile parts just go on the side of Onslaught. There are also anti-skid pads included that you can stick onto the bottom of Bruticus' feet so he won't slide around on a slick surface.

Aw darn. Just learned that the retailer that I preordered Apollyon from went out of business and might not give me a refund. And paypal might not either, since they only cover 180 days and I preordered it back on October 30 2014.

Life just sucks. I think I'm gonna stick to ordering stuff from BigBadToyStore from now on.

Hmm gonna have to look at videos. Did they fix Blast off in later runs of the fig by chance? Got mine not to long ago and don't notice it having problems like that, so wonder if it was fixed eventually?

There was a second run of Blast Off that fixed it, yes. If your Blast Off has clicking hip joints and little tabs on the chest to pull the landing gear out, you have a fixed one. If your Blast Off makes no clicking sound when you move the legs at the hips and has smooth panels on the chest landing gear pieces, you have a defective one.

If you do need to replace the torso, I suggest this video as a visual aid.

I have this massive itch to buy some Masterpiece Transformers. Apart from Big Bad Toy Store what are other good sites/Philippino/Australian stores to buy them from?

Can this be added to the OP or did I miss this somehow?
