Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

I can't imagine the swapping is extensive.

They would have had to done essentially two separate games for that to work.

it'll probably be main story centric or for really short instances. Similar to how the baldur's/oblivion gates in Oblivion worked. Where they were a nice little distraction that fucking ruined the world because your beautiful vibrant peaceful world would turn into the beginning of a heavy metal video each time you were nearby.

Seriously fuck those gates.

What? Few games feel more alive than Oblivion/Skyrim. Radiant AI despite its shortcomings made the world feel like a real place. NPC's eating, sleeping, playing, hunting, farming, visiting friends in other towns, stealing, fighting, etc.

It all felt very organic and dynamic.

Only game to touch it in that category has been the Wild Hunt. Fable came close to feeling as organic, but interaction with the world was too low.

We must have played different games.

I played the actual game, and not the PR, wassposetobe version.

Here's hoping they do another Collector's Edition like Fallout 3, which was the best CE Bethesda ever did and one of the best CE's in recent memory.

Pipboy Bobblehead is here on my desk agreeing with me.

Yeah that was a great CE

Was that summary of F3 written by someone who hadn't actually played the game, but instead had had some of it's plot described to him while off his tits on ale?

Not surprisingly, if you leave out most of the details, explanations, characters and their motivations, as well as omiting huge chunks of plot, then yeah, shockingly it doesn't sound very good or sensical.

The original ending was bollocks mind. But that got nicely fixed, so who cares?
The motivations and details that are left out in that description barely explain anything adequately and for every leaky explanation there is, there's yet another really crippling plothole that sinks the whole thing again.

For example, Little Lamplight is next to a slaver camp, and inside, it's separated from a group of super mutants by a gate made of cardboard.

The way you're describing them actually makes them sound much more rad than they were.

Water is not wet!
That's my guess too. Probably during selected story missions rather than anytime/anywhere.

Or it could be related to that Memory Den. Maybe the Institute found a way to extract memories from humans and package them for sale so androids could "relive" them. When you get access to certain memories you can switch between the two time periods.

Am I the only on who thinks that the colours are a touch too saturated and vibrant? I hope that's mostly relegated to the pre-war flash backs.

Completely agree. I don't care a huge deal about fidelity/IQ/whatever and I totally get people's aversion to the strong tints and limited palettes of past games, but what's on display here is just too far in the opposite direction for me.

Reminds me more of a Borderlands than the tone I'd expect from a Fallout. From a purely color and lighting related perspective, I feel like The Last of Us hits a considerably better sweet spot.

I've never played a Fallout game, I'd be tempted to grab the latest one in a 75% off sale if that ever happens.

This post isn't by me, it's by a guy with the same username as me.
I don't know guys...i'm calling this GameInformer cover/timeshift mechanic a fake.

The only source i found about this was a anonymous post on /v/.

Maybe it's true, but 4chan it's not what i call a reliable source.

There's something ironic and a bit stupid about complaining about "graphic whores". If graphics don't mean much to you, then why should it bother you if someone criticises them?

First reveal? PC. Always PC.

Yep. Even if it's not a PC game, the first trailers are always running on a beast-mode PC running a development (highly custom) build.

And yes, this has to be the gamebryo engine. If they say it's custom... then it's a customized version of gamebryo.

As someone who loved Fallout 3 and is looking forward to Fallout 4, this trailer's visuals looked like junk.

Bethesda please. Why must your open world RPGs look subpar every time?

Lord knows, you have the money! *shuffles in pockets*

Is it true they removed the character creator?
I don´t care too much about S.P.E.C.I.A.L but removing character creation feels like someone just kicked me in the balls.

I wouldn't be a fan of that. I read that you apparently cannot chose to be a female in the main story. The way it was worded made it seem like there might be a secondary option for you to play a character you get to fully create, but the main story makes you play as a set character.

There was no real way to source it though, so it doesn't really mean anything.

I haven't got far either in NV, should play it soon, since I own the PC ulimate edition. I hear it has better writing than 3 does.

yea, i avoided it early on cuz of the bugs but i got the GOTY on Steam a few years later and heard lots of issues were fixed. might check it out during the summer. still need to finish TW3 and Batman is out at the end of the month.

One of my favorite collectors editions I got, didn't even have to pre-order it. It was a reasonable price as far as CE go too. With Fallout 4 I hope they do another bobble head, but better quality.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
I never got that far into F3's main story, is it really this bad and nonsensical?

Lets not even get into how the population centers in f3 sustain themselves or why the wasteland is full of 200 year old canned goods that somehow are still edible. Thats something i wish NV had gotten rid of.

I'm in total disbelief right now. Rushed home from work eagerly expecting to watch the new Fallout trailer with a drink on my hand.

I can't believe what I'm witnessing. God awful graphics and animations. I waited years for this!? The dog makes me want to puke. Look at those textures! Even the COD dog looks better. I'm no graphics whore but you can't tell me gaming is just gameplay. It is a combo of visuals and mechanics to create something. Looks like it missed one of those marks.

At least you had beer. Savor that moment!

I think it's completely fair to critique the games graphics if don't think they look great. But then again, you also have people posting ugly ass moded FO3 screenshots and saying that those look better, or people saying they thought it was a mobile game based on the graphics.

Well,i hope it´s not true.

Recommended indeed. Dead Money and Old World Blues are fucking INCREDIBLE

The DLC from FO3 was pretty amazing as well. One of my most vivid Fallout memories was that quest line in 'Point Lookout' which involved tracking down a missing spy and blowing up a sub....cant remember if it was one of the main quests or side quests, but it was just godlike in its narrative
