Ultra Street Fighter 4 PS4 patch is live

I played last night. Feels so much better but I hate they still force you to skip intros by pressing Options button instead of any other button. That options button is so hard to press on a constant basis.

Normally, I'd agree with you but a patch takes more than a week to get through cert so the sad fact is this patch must have already been in submission when the game was released.
There are ways to get patches out faster in specific circumstances. It basically all depends on what it alters and how invested sony feels in fixing the game fast.

Yes, the 360 game also has input lag but nowhere as bad as PS3 and PS4.

Optimal is Arcade / PC.

360 is just esports standard because everyone not Japan doesn't have arcades and FGC doesn't do PC on a wide basis.
PC is not optimal for many reasons, I don't think the PC can ever serve as a standard in fighting games tbh. There are too many options you can tweak that makes the experience different as a result. With vsync off, PC feels much faster as opposed to having vsync on. Sometimes your framerate will tank on account of a bad driver or anything affecting your PC frankly. I've gone from a A class machine to B class machine due to a borked driver release from Nvidia. There are too many scenarios that can affect how your game plays on the day.

Apart from that conversation, even for casuals, so many pc players with B,C,D computers online. Lag switchers, cheaters, macro users galore. It's definitely not a standard that can be used. (well in that case for online tournaments even).

Using the same test methods that got me 6.3f and 6.4 frames input lag on two different tests using a TE2 on PS4(and 3.5f input lag on 360), I got...

4.87f and 4.84f on PS4 using TE2 for patch 1.02
Yes, thanks for this. I noticed I can hit my links (mash, ha ha), much better now. For those using the DS4, I think that some persons are just adjusting to it for USF4 on the PS4, I know I am. The dpad is much larger here and the L2/R2 is much more triggery than the Dual-shock 2 that I'm used to playing with.

I hope they improve the I/L a bit further and make this version the tournament standard is short order. I don't see how carrying lots of 360's to a tournament, when all or most fighting games will be played on a PS4 going forward, is something TO's are happy about atm.

Not going to happen. There will be no more changes to evo, the best Sony can hope for is to have it ready for the end of cpt

Anything's possible with money...

But it's more likely that Sony just wants this out for the capcom tour.

It does seem like they fixed a lot of issues too quickly. It makes me think that they knew of these bugs pre-release and decided to come out with a broken game anyway; which is not cool. I'll be buying it soon though since it's mostly fixed.

Can you please run another test with a ps3 TE stick? I feel like there's been no change.

Input lag feels exactly the same to me, even after many hours of playing last night.

Audio mixing is still messed up, especially with the announcer. Speaking of the announcer, he's talking almost non stop now. I've never heard anything like it in any version of the game.

It definitely "feels" better input lag wise with my MKX fight pad. I don't have the equipment to confirm this with tests but my 1 frame links are coming out with more consistency.

Why in gods name would you only add AF to training stage? Who fucking approves this shit?

Yup, just as I suspected after checking it out post-patch. The devs are comically bad.

Granted it was most noticeable on that stage, but come on. Use your heads.

With the lag still there and other issues still not fixed, I'm going to push again to get a refund. I didn't pay for early-access game.

Performance reasons. Their code is obviously not running fast enough right now. Needs more optimization.

I hope they really nail down the input lag. I'd like to see 4 frames if possible.

I've switched from PS3 to PS4 the moment the update went live. And believe me, playing with the same people I'm having better results in PS4. If you don't take my opinion as valid, that's your problem only.

I'm sorry. Are you a top SF player?

I just noticed this version of the games doesnt have upload to Youtube option. This really sucks, I guess they felt that since PS4 can stream it didnt need it. Which is dumb cause when you stream you end up causing so much lag. Its so stupid that they left this option out!

Can't you just locally record with the share feature?

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag

Does it save voice chat dialogue too? Would be great for recording idiots yelling during matches.

I mean AF is great and all, but I imagine whoever is fucking approving this shit prioritized game fixes over texture filtering.

I assume they prioritized fixing it where it was most obvious. The training stage is basically an AF test pattern, so fixing it there makes a big difference to the appearance. The average player isn't going to notice it in a normal stage. In fact, once a fight starts, no player should be consciously aware of the lack of AF and therefore it should have no impact on enjoyment. So fixing other stuff is clearly more important.

Agreed it was probably prioritized first as that stage was most egregious, but it's odd it was only applied selectively, as I assumed it would be a global setting like in most PC games, and the PC version. No excuse it if they never touch the other stages at some point soon though. There's no reason to skimp on image quality when it can be maxed out on weaker hardware. I also like spectating matches, and enjoy the presentation, so it does affect my enjoyment.

This is ridiculous. 99.9999% of us are not "top players". Maybe we should close the thread because no one here is qualified to even be discussing this matter...and, yet WE'RE the ones playing the game. Lol, are we "regular folk" allowed to express our opinions on how the game feels to other "regular folk"? Would that be okay with you?

BTW, top players can be wrong/biased/stupid/uninformed, too. Players who haven't played a single tourney can be right/objective/intelligent/informed.

If only top players can perceive and judge these flaws, then why should any of us regular people even give a shit in the first place?

This.

The update fixed the net lag a lot, the game feels vastly smoother. Netcode is better than even the XBL version I'd dare to say (as long as you get a Yellow bar and up). Menu lag is gone thanks the gods. Purchase justified in my eyes; I played the game pretty damn hardcore a few years back now I just play casually, and yes there is definitely some input lag even with my TE2 PS4 stick (i am missing some obvious combos, but then again I love dropping combos) but nothing atrocious.

Fair point about spectating, I didn't think of that. Still, whether you're playing or not, your attention is on the foreground, so I still think it's of minimal importance.

And totally agree it's odd that AF is not applied globally.

You're talking like you should expect all those things to happen regularly. Apart from variable input delay none of what you are saying is indicative at all of the PC version experience. In 600+ hrs of playing on PC I've seen less than a handful of sub-A class players. And it's there anyways so that you can filter those people out if you don't want to play with them. Lag switchers, cheaters, and macro users, really? lol Everything you're saying is just comical to anyone who plays with any regularity.

The input delay is a non-issue, too. It's not like you're changing your settings all the time so it will always be consistent. Plus, if you so wanted you could go out of your way to change it however you want it.

Your driver update supposedly lowering your performance is not a scenario you should expect to happen or indeed does happen even "sometimes".

Valle runs online PC tournaments sometimes and the matches/set-up go by faster and more efficiently than when he uses the 360 version. The PC port has actually always been top-notch outside of the transition to Steamworks and the incompatible network API. Valve has since patched the Steamworks P2P to work better with SF4. If you hop online today it is the top-tier experience along with the 360 version. If you haven't played recently, well now you know, otherwise don't be disingenuous about it.
