E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

People are calling me out for asking a question that's perfectly legitimate. Past couple of E3's have been largely disappointing if not vanilla. There's no guarantee all of these studios have something to show this E3 or that they won't wait to show it at a different conference. Don't let the NeoGAF hype get to you, I've been there again and again.

But w/e I'd like to be proven wrong. I'm just being negative.

Joke post?

The Tomorrow Children Doesn't count: indie budget
Rime Same as above, also previous game was Deadlight
the Witness Boring indie puzzle game, no blood, no violence, no bang bang
No Mans Sky it's not Halo AAA Killer, so it doesn't count
Persona 5 Niche Jrpg that's also available on PS3, doesn't count
Star Ocean 5 same as above
Dragon Quest: Heroes boring repetive "hu, huh, huyaa" action game that's not an actual DQ
Uncharted 4 It's not 60 FPS and it uses same engine from PS3 era, boring
Until Dawn Another Movie-wannabe game with boring qte mechanics
Street Fighter V It also comes to PC, so it doesn't count
GG's new IP All shiny grafix and no gameplay, doesn't count
MM's new IP It's been 4 years since last home console game, they just DON'T HAVE IT ANYMORE!
The Last F'in Guardian amongst many others. The game must have changed a lot from original vision, doesn't have chainsaws or machine guns

:p

You people hating on Platinum, you cray, cray I say.

Mechanically, they are the best of best. You might not like the games they make, but they are undobtedly some of the best crafted in the industry. In no way overrated.
.

Scalebound is basically the only reason I still have an Xbox one.

Damn right.

There are better Japanese devs to go after. I rather have another Tri-Ace game.

Apples and oranges. They make totally different games. But for those of us who like action games with deep gameplay, Platinum is top of the bill.

I shudder at the thought of future games having combat systems as shallow as Assassin's Creed or Shadow of Mordor. That's why we embrace Platinum.

I don't know, I think this E3's hype is a symbol of where the industry is at right now. The consoles were way more successful than anybody thought they would be, and there's a lot of money being spent on AAA development again that wasn't being spent before the generation started. The fruits of that money are finally ready to be shown.

An RPG shooter about hunting robot dinosaurs with your tribe?
TBH, if this is all they show me for an hour or two straight, I'd be set.

Why are people hyped for Sony conference? Outside of maybe like Dark Souls 3 being shown there.

Because Sooony we can see the delayathon with VR.

Serious answer. Best selling platform, so more people will talk about it. And since we don't have an awesome 2015(for me is good enough), it must be something good for 2016 and later.

Also, this are things we know:
- New GG IP Codename(pls be) Horizon;
- New MM IP;
- New GG Cambridge IP;
- New London Studios IP;
- New QD IP;

I don't remember everything right now, but, it's already awesome this way. It's possible to not been all this, but if only Horizon appears... God...

Understanding Horizon level of awesomeness:
- RPG;
- Open world;
- FPS;
- I think it will be co-op;
- Dinosaurs;
- Drops guitar while stretching my legs in excitement for the line bellow;
- Have I said the Dinosaurs are FUCKING ROBOTS?

Plus that they've done awesome with graphics in KZ:SF, and the gameplay(IMO), but lacked on history(?). They got a good good writer and another guy I don't remeber what for.

Edit: Guitar broken, fuck my life.

PG's output is a bit mixed, but they are pretty great at what they do. I'd love to see if they have another project in the works aside from Scalebound. They have like 2-3 teams, right? I'm also exciting to seeing gameplay for Scalebound, Kamiya is pretty great at what he does

That's the gambler's fallacy. 2016 could be equally bad or worse than 2015.

It could forever be trending downwards. ;-)

I don't think there has ever been anyone that chooses being negative because they like it, outside of maybe cynics.

I'd learn that expecting worst I can't be further disappointed
I don't even know why you would care one bit about E3.

It's just about marketing and promises.

I predict a lot of megaton wishing followed by bitter disappointment. Just like most e3s. Then people will calm down and spend hours arguing about how their company of choice clearly won e3 based on their own personal criteria. Can't wait!

Anytime I see those cool concept dinosaur screens posted I wonder if they we're ever confirmed by anyone that they have association with GG at all.

Exciting. Probably in my Top 3 most anticipated titles.

Also show some Hitman footage and a Splinter Cell game that was like Conviction before it went through its reboot.

A Splinter Cell like Conviction? God no.

Something more in line with the original trilogy would be very welcome.

%110 TLG will be there this year. I feel it inside of me. The hype...its rattling throughout my bones. Its moving into any available crevice of my body. It is here. We are 6 days away from E3 2015 and the hype has officially hit me full force.

You hear any rumblings?

I'm hoping for a Lego Worlds Console announcement. Game looks like the greatest thing ever and my PC can't run shit. Might be too early tho, it's still in Early Access after all.

This just looks so good! If that picture is anything to go by, the artstyle is gorgeous and ROBOT DINOSAURS.
How do you guys think the game will be structured beyond the RPG-label, will it be the the game Destiny once was or more like a Fallout game etc.?

Looks amazing but I wouldn't be surprised if GGs new game turned out to be entirely different. This was just a rumor and never confirmed
No way. Unannounced game wasn't confirmed yet? The deduction is real.

Translating concept art into a game is extremely difficult based on the history of video games. :p

These robot dino + red-headed female protagonist RPG rumours with a full reveal at E3 2015 were from shinobi, and as far as I know he's pretty reliable. Maybe not the pictures themselves but it fits well enough.

I'm kind of meh about E3 this year. My gaming this year has pretty much just been Monster Hunter 4U, Terra Battle and Xenoblade with a side of Splatoon and Puzzle and Dragons Z/Mario. Not sure how much there's going to be for me at E3.

I would have said I'm looking forward to seeing Zelda, NX and the announcement of Bravely Second but the first two have been confirmed not to be there and the latter got announced already.

Maybe there will be a few surprises for me.

Yeah I know :p It's difficult with all the different terms for the visuals, especially when English is not my native language. Everything would be so much more simpler if you could just say graphics for everything. :)
Meant more of the design of the robo-dino, the forest setting and the wonderful colours. Otherwise I hope that it will be rendered the same way as Killzone Shadow Fall.

I've never really understood the use of "overrated" as a criticism. I mean, doesn't it essentially boil down to "I don't like the thing as much as some other people do"?
It's pretty obvious what many of us meant by overrated. They're competent developers that make some amusing and fun titles, but people make them out to be the second coming of Christ and there's a hype culture surrounding them that some of us think is undeserved.

Stop being reasonable :p

For what its worth, my line manager where I used to work was a former employee of Guerilla Cambridge. When the images dropped online he was sitting with me at my desk and immediately said 'oh look its Horizon', but wouldn't tell me anymore.

I'm inclined to believe they're real.

You moster. How could you live with yourself?

I think overrated is used when people value things more than it deserves.
Like, having an mechanic in games that is critiqued as bad in most games it is overused, but, when overused by a specific game you like, you just "ignores it". Same goes for other flaws.

This also don't make the game bad, not even "just good".

Soooo... pretty much what I said then :)

But who am I to say that something is valued more than it deserves to be valued?

Good thing is that Guerilla Games has absolutely incredible environmental artists. Add to that the technical chops and this title presumably being third person with Euphoria and it's a welcome change from Killzone's FPS.

This is what I meant. Everybody swears by them and the games aren't bad, just not my cup of tea and I always leave disappointed.

Platinum is overrated.

I know I'd definitely prefer to see Sony team up with their buds at Capcom for Devil May Cry 5 over any of Platinum's games. Itsuno and his team are still the true kings of combat. None of that QTE and excessive slow-mo, just raw mechanics and skill. Way better characters to boot. And of course, it would make more sense financially since DMC is much more popular.

Not that Platinum's bad or anything, but I'm definitely not bothered at all that they've chosen to pursue more popular companies/franchises for exclusives.

Are there other Japanese developers who make character action games beside Platinum Games?

OK, there's Capcom. Any others?
