Gran Turismo 7 coming before 2017, with improved crash physics says Yamauchi

This is fucking crazy. Such a bad management. Whoever thought making GT6 for PS3 was a good idea is an idiot.

Should have waited and released that game on PS4 this year or last year. Seriously wtf.
That was bad but I'd rather GT release cycle then forzas. Saturation and too much of a good thing comes to mind.

crash physics should not be the priority.
they should be, in this order:

-1080p/60
-even better driving physics
-sound
-all premium cars
-G27 support
-better crash physics.

They achieved this on PS3 with insane visual detail (except some tracks). I don't think it would be too hard for them to do it on PS4.

is the damage/crashes obsession a cultural thing?

it's as if people will buy the game just to crash the cars. i liken it to someone asking for injuries when buying a sports game.

anyway, 2015 is too short a time after gt6. make it 2016.

It's going to be a massive year for Sony.

I sort of agree, but just because Microsoft has made Forza an annualised franchise, I don't think that should give Sony/PD a reason to release GT games at a faster rate. 2016 isn't so bad, then a GT8 in 2019(?) towards the end of the cycle.

At the very least they need something like a GT7: Prolouge. This year. Forza is getting a lot of facetime and that facetime is getting it a lot more mindshare than the GT franchise these days.

Polyphony may have the history but they shouldn't get complacent and think that another sim racer franchise can't snatch their shine, because it could very easily be seen as GT7 needing to "prove itself" against Forza 6 or 7, rather than the other way around (as it's traditionally been).

Unless we see GT7 sometime this year, it ain't coming in 2017.

How'd you come to that conclusion? We saw GT6 in 2013 and it launched 6 months later. They could easily announce GT7 in 2016 for it to then launch later that year.

But either way, the likelihood is that we'll see it this year anyway. As I said, it's not launching in 2017. Otherwise, why would he say it's coming before 2017?

I agree that having 3 Forza games on Xbox One before a single GT game shows up isn't a good look, especially after the seemingly lukewarm reception GT5 and 6 released to.

So give me GT6 (Full)HD collection this holiday please.

And meh about the crash physics. I always turned damage off in GT5, cause I actually like to finish races :-/

You are over stating forzas. It's minds hare has not grown at all. I GT game will outsell 3 forzas. When gt launches it will be a big deal. Forzas is also not on Playstation so it's effect is minimal. They also release them too frequently dulling excitement for a new one.

People really shouldn't expect to see it at E3. There's another article from this event that mentions that Kaz's translator won't be there.

2019 Confirmed lol! I love the GT series and I am an older gamer so I know that things take time and Yamauchi is a man who obsesses over detail but this is a business and the world waits for no one. With so many others besides Forza (who have a yearly rhythm) jumping in and looking for market share, the slow releases will only make it harder for GT7 to be as successful as it could be. That's on top of PD's own game design philosophy that will likely keep the game limited in personality (customization, side events, etc..).

Didnt gt6 score better and won more racing awards than forza 5? Seems the series is doing ok.

4 of those 6 games haven't even been officially announced for the PS4.

Polyphony seem to operate in their own game development bubble, with no pressure with deadlines from Sony.

GT6 should have never happened and instead it would have been nice to have had a PS4 title within 3 years of the system's release.

They wanted to make the best game they could with the PS3 platform, even if it fell a little short. Plus it reinforces the Playstation platform's core strength of having top quality 1st parties very late into the console's lifespan.

No they didn't.

Real 1920x1080p/60 is a must.

Also...40-60fps is not = to locked 60fps

I demand 60fps for my Sim Racers. It's why I didn't buy the console version of Project Cars. It soured me on the GT series over the years. They need to bring the right things back into focus with 7.

Would love to see March of next year but Im guessing Summer/Fall next year. Can't wait to see if and I hope it has morpheus support.

3 years is downright reasonable a turnover time for these guys. People forget that it's actually a pretty small studio, too. Since they print Sony more money than anyone else in house they're better off being allowed to do things as they see fit. GT6 was an odd combination of stuck at the end of a generation yet also somehow feeling a but rushed so that it wouldn't fall even deeper into the new cycle and look even more awkward.

Comments about "Forza 7 by GT7" aren't automatically amiss, but that's not a good thing. I'd rather a signature franchise not be turned into annualized shovelware which, though still of quality, would obviously turn out better were it given more given and is being released on a calendar level and not necessarily a completion one.
Reveal in 2016, release in 2016. A couple of insiders doubt it'll show at e3 next week.
Citation needed. No random spouting of such things.

They seem to hint at a release very, very soon.

In what universe is it doing ok? GT6 cratered in the market. It's done so badly, Sony won't even share numbers, whereas in the past, Sony couldn't wait to share them. It took them 2 weeks to share GT5's numbers. 18 months later, we're still waiting for an update on GT6. I wonder why...

GT7 will be the real test of where GT stands in the market. It could go either way at this point.
