Microsoft announces new Xbox One 1TB console; new controller

How's the controller different?

- New 3.5mm headphone jack built in
- Revised bumpers making them easier to trigger along the whole length, plus not so "clicky"
- Revisions to the controller firmware (unsure if this affects original controller), with give you volume controls in an app in addition to on your headphones/headset itself.

Finally fixed the worst thing about the controller, and added an awesome feature. I couldn't imagine active reloading in gears, with those horrible bumpers..Looks like its up for preorder on amazon now( the camo one)..

And it can now be updated wirelessly.

That is a great addition since with the old controller you have to connect it with a USB port to the back of the XBOX ONE which is really a pain in the butt..waiting for Best Buy to have it available for pre order since I think accessories work with GCU

There's a USB on the side

"We’re also pleased to announce that starting today, the $349 USD price on all standard Xbox One 500GB consoles will be permanent in the United States and select regions."

Wasn't that always the case minus one month (Jan)? I may be wrong.

Not everyone knows how to use them, ie rolling your index finger between trigger and bumper. People have been trying to press the bumpers from way up top and complaining that they are too stiff. I personally have had no problems with the current bumpers, I do like that the new ones don't click though.

Everyone "knows" how to use them, people just don't want to use them like that.
Many different people, many different ways to hold a controller.
MS' original design basically gave everyone one choice, not everyone liked the choice that was made for them.

Yes, but now we can tell Pachter he was wrong.

Well, at least that wireless receiver design is an improvement over the 360 one.

Must be a reason (besides money) why they can't get it as small or less conspicuous as Logitech/generic Bluetooth USB receivers right?

Great deal n shit, but I really wanted a fucking slim model!

The form factor of the console + brick is the fucking worst, it makes me feel like I'm buying an outdated piece of hardware when comparing to my PS4.

They mentioned audio quality enhancements too. I hope this means no more clicking, popping and dropped sounds when using a headset. I have he Xbox headset and this gets annoying. (yes my controllers are updated)

They won't bundle Halo, it will sell on its own. Tomb Raider is, I'm guessing, going to be a big bundle game. Could be wrong, but that seems like the best use of their exclusivity.

They sort of confirmed that there is going to be a limited edition Halo 5 console.

It baffles me how they let it release in the first revision at all. The bumpers were downright broken if you were a fingertip user.

All of this is great news, I'll be picking one up for Win10 gaming.

Probably a dumb question - but does this mean I can input any pair of headphones into the 3.5mm jack and it will output the sound through the headphones and not TV? I have no need for a headset, so will only be using headphones.

This is great and all, but how about a damn wireless headset? I hate the corded shit, the 360 had a wireless headset, and it is freaking 2015. For fuck sake, Microsoft, make it happen!

If they would tighten the joysticks this would be the best controller around. It's already great ergonomically and layout wise, but the joysticks are so friggin' loose.

You actually get more the double the storage space, The 500gb system had 365GB free, rest for the OS, this would add another 500gb.

edit: looks like the 1tb only has 780gb free.

Really hoping this goes on sale somewhere within the next few months. I want an X1 before RB4 and I want the new model but I don't want to have to pay 400$ for an X1.

Allows you to hear your own voice from within the headset. This is useful for helping to avoid the feeling of needing to shout for other players to hear you

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I know what mic monitoring is I just had no idea they were adding it.

Is it a feature of the new controller? Or maybe something that will come to the old controller as well through firmware?

I obviously need to do more research.

The big thing with this is that my $25 adapter can be used on this. I like having the audio controls where I can adjust them on the fly, so that's good.

I have some Gamestop trade-in credit, so I'll get the bundle with the new controller and the wireless PC adapter when that comes out.

I agree. I don't like feeling around, searching for the controls on a wire and I think putting them right there close to you thumbs, easily found in the dark was great.
