Ratchet and Clank (PS4) - First Trailer [Up: 8 minutes of gameplay, $40]

It wouldn't be GAF without drive by shit posting.

Would you care to elaborate what aspects of the footage you took into consideration to reach that conclusion, or, you know, add anything at all to the discussion?

He/She is usually in Driveclub or Gran Turismo threads bandwagoning its obvious competitor, so I wouldn't look too deep into this comment. Either its serious or its just a blatant fanboy post.

Best wishes.

dayum that looks good. And gameplay DID improve, aiming seems to be more ...manual. A lot less locking on, which is a VERY good thing.

Looks great graphically but is it really just the same game? That's kind of a bummer. Didn't see anything new.

People who keep asking this must not know the original R&C too well themselves. While a lot of the planets we've seen are reimagined versions of the old ones, the layout and design from what we've seen has been different, and we've seen different weapons. A lot of those planets I don't even directly recognize from the first game. I caught Metropolis, (of course) Novalis, Veldin, Hoven, and Blackwater City. There was no ship section on Metropolis, and snippet of the clank section we saw is different from the original clank sections.

The concern is real lol.

I wonder if E3 will adapt or if it will become sort of an outdated beast that costs companies a metric shit ton of money to put on.

The fact that we're getting so many official releases a week ahead instead of leaks is pretty telling that companies are no longer reliant on the main conferences.

Ahh. Post history is the best :p

Look, they did research on it and found that people don't give a shit about 30fps vs 60fps. Call of Duty would no doubt have done as well as it has even at 30fps. Gameplay fluidity and response time have no bearing on anything, especially in shooters, and R&C is a shooter.

God bless you.

30 fps eh? That's a bit dissapointing.
Oh well, it's looking great! Pixar quality stuff!

Oh yeah, "fuck E3, fuck leaks, fuck you, here are your reveals, you twat" is apparently how publishers are thinking this year.

Is this a reboot or a remake? Because a lot of that seems really similar to the first game.

Anyway, I loved these games on PS2 when I was a wee boy. I never got into the PS3 ones, I played Tools of Destruction but never finished it. I was meaning to play A Crack in Time, but I still haven't got it. So I skipped out a lot of it. I was literally obsessed with these games though.

It's a reboot and is going to be structured differently from the first game.

Damn the game looks gorgeous! Can't wait to get back into some Ratchet & Clank action! Only thing that annoys me is having a weapon pre-order exclusive... The Bouncer of all weapons too! Ugh I seriously hope you can get it in game somehow, because I don't want to HAVE to pre-order just for that :/

Wow looks spectacular. PS4 really needs a good family friendly exclusive blockbuster and this game will fill the spot perfect.

Has it been confirmed there is a sly cooper too?

Yeah.

Looks like Sony is looking to seriously push into the children's market, and thankfully is doing so via. Pixar style quality that will likely benefit us older players too.

If they get this right then Sony could absolutely obliterate Microsoft and Nintendo this gen. There's the potential to create franchises that resonate with today's kids the way Mario etc. did for us. If Nintendo didn't find a way to follow suite then they could find themselves without their reliable kids market in 10+ years time.

Ofc the films and games could turnout mediocre and not resonate with kids in which case nothing would happen. Also if the only kid friendly games on the PS4 was R&C, a new Sly Cooper and Knack then this campaign probably wouldn't maintain momentum.

Looks incredible, but for my taste the flow is too often interrupted by changing weapons. I hope that there is something else to switch the weapons, so that i don't have to pause the game every 10 sec.

Looks awesome but damn I thought the movie was coming out this year.

Regardless this might be a big opportunity to turn Ratchet and Clank into a marketing machine like Cars or Frozen.

And it might be the first game based on a movie that is actually good, lol.

Same graphics, same weapon wheel, but the gameplay itself is underwhelming compared to the madness you see in SO.

LOL no just no, this looks better then So imo, and ratchet and clank has been around for a lot longer then SO, So was really a poor mans R@C. They are quite different anyway, not sure what you are smoking or you just came here to cause a stir.

I think it's half and half; it's following the same story and general levels from the first game, adapting bits from the movie, throwing some of the stuff from the later games (weapons levels) and putting even more original stuff in.

It's a great deal for us; one heck of a trip down memory's lane while being a fresh experience.

Looks like a good ol' R&C game, game design seems to be on autopilot for this one. I imagine it's using the Sunset Overdrive engine.

The gameplay is astounding, it's all I ever wanted from a Ratchet game, at least viewing and not playing the game! This feels like a major reboot and damn this game is gorgeous!

I understand that but it's this whole thing where ND feels like they can't go back and make cartoony platformers like they used to. Uncharted and The Last of Us are great but not every game has to go for that level of realism. I'm sure a lot of people would be stoked for a new Jak game.

Why should they? Their transition into realistic games has turned them into one of the most successful and respected studios on the planet, there's no point looking backwards.

Your console warrior is showing, dude.
