While I understand the want for Inkling to be a playable character, that would be the bees knees IMO, there's just no way it's happening. They've already been included as Mii costumes and now as a trophy. Plus, Inkling is the type of character that I think better sells Smash 5 instead.

Then again it's Sakurai and we could all be playing him/her in like two months.

I think the whole character ballot thing they rolled out will only be a deciding factor for one DLC slot, if any. It seems obvious that they already have most of the fighters planned. Chorus Kids are definitely next up.

I still don't like Ryu as a choice for Smash Bros. Seems a little out of place and it's just kind of boring since we've seen him fight a million times before. Would have preferred someone more unusual. Roy is Roy, which is kind of boring too.

Hopefully they have someone more interesting to show off at E3 but I guess this is probably it.

Yeah I agree. I really think the Chrous Kids were only kept out because of problems with implementing them on the 3DS. I expect them in the next game. Hopefully also with Chibi-Robo.

I like City Scape, I would have prefered a lot of Sonic 2d games music remixes.
I dont remember this, is the Angel Island remix they did for brawl still there anymore? And not having a Green Hill remix two games in a row is inexcusable.

Yeah, okay, sure... Doesn't make him less boring to me, though. He's kind of a plain looking human in a purely white outfit, and he fights in a style we've seen so many times before. That's just boring... Glad other people are excited about it anyways!

Unfortunately, if the two Rhythm Heaven songs are indeed for the Miiverse stage then we probably aren't going to get the Chorus Kids. Getting the Chorus Kids would also mean getting a Rhythm Heaven stage, in which case Rhythm Heaven music wouldn't have been added to Miiverse.

RH music on Miiverse = no Chorus Kids
RH music prematurely patched in like leaked Roy/Ryu/Kirby audio = probable Chorus Kids

Namco and Sega also make fighting games like Capcom does! Tekken and Virtua Fighter are their famous fighting game franchises.

Street Fighter gets preference with a fighter and a stage because it's the first and most iconic, but both Virtua Fighter and Tekken are also well-respected fighting games so should get some nods in Smash as well.

Mewtwo and Lucas had trophies before they turned into DLC so I don't think that's a factor at all, and most existing fighters have their own costumes for Miis. It's a non-factor really.

That said I do think it's a legitimate worry that the Splatoon's size might mean it's best for Smash 5, but if anything it might be an impetus for them to jump onto that train sooner rather than prioritize someone lesser like say, TW101.

Rhythm Heaven deserves a character and I think they are aware of that. Question is who it should be and when it will happen. Maybe next game.

The Rhythm Heaven games have sold surprisingly well. I'd think you'd see about as many or maybe less people saying "Who are these guys?" than "Who's Robin?" or "Who's Shulk?" or even "Who's Palutena?"

I'll be the first person to say that Sakurai sometimes makes some of the most baffling design decisions in regards to Smash. But I'm really not seeing the big deal in this case. He simply chose one set of homages over another. It's okay to be upset about it I suppose (I'm personally miffed his black gi + yellow headband combo didn't make it), but it just seems kinda trivial compared to some of the weirder decisions he's made.

Smash 4 will be a game where I can have Mario, Pacman, Megaman, Sonic and now Ryu all fighting at one time.

As a kid, these were some of my favorite series. I can't stop smiling at how cool this will be.

Instead people are bitching about popularity, who deserves what spot, etc. I'm just going to back away and watch the trailer a few more times.

Nothing much, but if they're putting in Ryu, costumes representing two other iconic fighting game IPs don't do much harm either, considering the companies for said franchises have a character in the game already.

Its really not that big of a deal.
I just thought it was more fun to have those alts.
Its really trivial, nothing more than a small detail. But had so many posters going into "but, but, but..." that trying to answer them it seem it was bigger than what i really thought (did bad trying to defend me for what it looks).
I really like Ryu's inclusion, its just I would have prefered more fun alts, thats all :(
