I was holding out on buying a new controller, hoping a new color would be announced at E3. This sure as hell wasn't what I was hoping for.

Guess I'll have to wait for some special edition. One of the biggest reasons I wanted one was for Halo 5 co-op which is dead anyway.

On amazon's web site they have the special edition controller coming out on June 16th, but they also have on July 6th the same controller in black for 10 bucks cheaper not sure which one to go with

Finally fixed the worst thing about the controller, and added an awesome feature. I couldn't imagine active reloading in gears, with those horrible bumpers..Looks like its up for preorder on amazon now( the camo one) but I might wait for BB to get them, so I can use my GCU..

There's no discount on hardware with gcu

I went ahead and pre-ordered the Covert Forces controller at Best Buy, and I'll pick up the black controller/PC adapter bundle when that becomes available. Two controllers at one time is good to have.

Looking to but one in the UK.
When do uk orders start?
Thanks.

Its GAME exclusive for 10 days or so I think

They have some great deals too. Batman + Forza 5 + Ori = £350 (which is its RRP)

Or £370 with Elder Scrolls, Ori and Project Cars, or you can swap PC for COD AW or Watch Dogs/Unity double pack

Deals here

My question is are there now two skus to choose from and until how long? Maybe MS is selling the 500GB XO for $349.99 until its stock runs out and then they'll only be the 1TB option.

Regardless it's nice of MS to introduce a 1TB option into the market for people who may not be tech savvy or may not wanna buy an external HDD. I never did consider space a problem really. As soon as MS updated the XO to support externals I hooked in a 2TB sucker on my XO. Bang! 2.5TB XO

The new controller is what I'm really interested in but $65, sheesh.

Need bumper feedback, do you still need to press them along the sides? do they feel nice? does the entire surface of the bumber button work when pressed now?

This is an interesting scenario, Microsoft is telling us new official pricing prior to E3, is this a good move as far as competitors go and what they might do? I was hoping for a Xbox One Slim for $299 but that looks doubtful now.

Don't know what to do, now in amazon.es Xb1+AC Unity+ AC Black Flag+Rayman at 349€. I was planning to get one at the end of the year but this price is good. I don't wanna get one and 4 months later see the 1TB version bundled with Halo, Fallout o whatever at 299€,

In addition to bumper feedback, can you also let us know if they made any changes whatsoever to the tension of the analog sticks? Thank you. Also any other changes you notice would be greatly appreciated.

Slim won't be until next year, seems obvious now, they won't be making sku moves which mean producing more only to then make a whole new box.

How many games can you install in the 500GB model? Seriously considering get the 500GB model + ACU+ ACBF + Rayman for 350€. I don't need to have ten games installed at a time.

-- Edit: Thanks to rokkerkory, Ascenion and Kinsella for the replies!! I think I'll pull the trigger and get the X1 at 350€ with the 3 games. On August I'll go with The Witcher 3 while waiting for the holydays with MGS V, Halo 5 and hopefully Fallout 4.

Would love to have the mate finish and the new controller but this deal is quite good.

I technically have 13 installed, with about 11.2GB free. So: Child of Light, DOA5: LR, Xenoverse, MCC, Neverwinter, State of Decay, Wild Hunt, Dark Souls 2, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Mordor, RYSE, ESO and Xbox fitness if that counts. Note that Forza, MCC, ESO take up around 165 GB which is a little less than half of the 362GB you have access to.

Obviously depends on the size of the game, but also keep in mind that it isn't really a 500gb drive when you get it. It's more like 360 gig.

The bumpers on the new controller can be pushed down anywhere and they respond.

A subtle change but it is slightly nicer.

To be honest the controller should have launched with a 3.5mm jack and these bumpers.

I'd imagine the jack was left out so people would have to buy the adapter to use headsets.

One thing that does annoy me coming from the ps4 (and even the Wii u) is needing batteries in the controller, or having to buy a play and charge kit. It should be built in in my opinion.

If they were built in the controller would be cap once the batteries died. Sending in the controller is a hassle.

So are we in agreement that in terms of looks?

Glossy white system ≥ matte black system > glossy black

Right?

Is the audio from the headset jack improved? Get lots of crackling and popping with current one. Drives me crazy.

What was the problem with the bumpers? I only ever tried the controller at a store demo kiosk and I all I remember was the triggers feeling great compared to the 360's.

Might pick up the console when Halo 5 comes out. Hopefully I can find a white one then.

Disagree with you on the battery issue, Thankfully the batteries are replaceable. I have had my PS4 battery die on me already and Sony wanted to charge me to replace the whole controller. I always disliked that about the PS4 controller.

I agree with the other points, it should have had the 3.5mm port to begin with and the bumpers that are on the new controller.

The new Xbox One Wireless Controller now features a 3.5mm stereo jack that lets you plug a headset right into the controller. You’ll have the option to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your console. In addition to audio improvements, we’ve fine-tuned the bumpers and enabled wireless firmware updates on the updated controller which eliminates having to connect the controller via USB cable to receive updates. What’s more, you can purchase the new controller ($64.99 U.S. MSRP) as a standalone item in black as well as a new camouflage design in silver and black with the Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller.

No word on fixing the god awful trigger deadzones?

Also, needing a full menu to adjust volumes sounds like a bad idea compared to buttons on the controller. Hopefully it won't be a PITA to use mixamps with.

Unfortunately I don't use a headset, so I haven't tested it out yet.

Do you mean audio when communicating with other players? Or just sound from a game?

I could connect either the supplied headset, or a gaming headset to test it, although do you know if the crackling was a common issue on the older controller?

Only reason I ask is mine could be ok, but that might be an improvement as such, you might just have got a bad one.

That's fair enough, I've never had a controller with battery issues fortunately, hence my preference. But I can see how it would be an issue should there be a problem, but I'd take the risk the same way any hardware fault can occur.

One "issue" my controller does have is the left bumper keeps sticking. I noticed from new it wouldn't actually push down, I had to use a little force, the button works but gets caught at times, my ocd is getting the better of me.

All controllers should have replaceable batteries. PS controllers drive me crazy needing to be charged all the time.

Good AAs last for ages.

Could have replaced it yourself for $8 shipped...
