Can't give my word on the crazy Shenmue rumours but the FF VII remake is a real thing. They started production a few months ago and it will be announced this week for a 2017 release.

The Last Guardian is coming back too, Sony PR guys are giving appointments to the press and they plan to release it during the holiday season since Uncharted 4 is delayed until 2016.

Men, if they only started production few months back, I don't see it being a full blown remake. It would be an upress of background and 3D assets at best. Not getting my hopes up but we'll see how it goes.

If they wanted it released for the games 20th anniversary they'd have 2 more years to work with. I think that's plenty of time.

*Heavy breathing*

Thought I could skip the 03:00 AM showing but the slight possibility of this being real is just... too... Sigh. Tomorrow will be a long day at work XD

lol i'll believe it when I see it, I always imagine that this is sqeenix's "break in case of fire" title.

They just release it when the company needs guaranteed money.

Quick someone message Sal Romano at gematsu! We need this shit to be official.

"Thanks, Neogaf."

And who else is ecstatic to finally see the Last Guardian on PS4? It was ALREADY gorgeous on PS3. Damn I need another Team Ico game in my life.

We're friends now.

VI would translate to current gen far better, in my opinion. In addition to being the best game ever made, it has a more adult story.

How exactly do you decide this?

Personal opinion: VII hits closer to home, and just generally feels more adult to me.

It deals with a capitalistic dystopia (instead of an intangible fantasy "empire"), rampant genetic modification, the outsourcing of armed forces to financial interests, and the tragedy that comes after you've traded the health and resources of your community away for a quick buck (ties to "Big Oil" and the fracking industry in rural US).

The game picks up in its own World of Ruin. Of the characters who aren't totally washed up failures already, one dies, one has horrible self-esteem issues, and the other is the Princess of a town/country that has been reduced to a tourist destination. Cloud, the badass on the cover with the big ass sword, went away with big dreams of making something of himself and came home the biggest failure of the entire cast.

VI picks up when the Big Bad wins. VII starts off in a world where the Big Bad won a long time ago, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's heavy, and in a way that connects way more to what I consider mature themes and story beats. Not edgy "mature", though there is some of that, but human mature.
