I wonder how the world map will fare...

I'm fine if they keep it "representational" rather than realistically proportioned.

So what kinda remake do you guys want?

Would you be ok if they "tinkered" with it and added a new(ish) battle system, opened up the world for more exploration, etc?

I'd be fine if they kept the same turn based battle system with random battles (and a battle speed, encounter rate toggle like Bravely Default), If they did Turn Based but on the overworld like Chrono Trigger or if they did full real time like Kingdom Hearts or FFXV.

Honestly I'd be fine with any and think all have their upsides. Turnbased random keeps it traditional, turnbased on overworld keeps it traditional but with an updated flair that keeps it fresh and full real time opens the game to a new demographic who prefer action to turn based.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
What sequence are you most looking forward to seeing glorious HD?

For me? Nibelheim flashback... ALL OF IT. Especially the truck scene with Seph taking out a dragon.

All I can say is: after all this time, you fuckers had better buy this game in droves, and open the door for my Final Fantasy IX remake. A version of that game in which the whole thing looks just like the cutscenes is all I want in the world, like a kid wants a pony.

It's FFVII, don't worry.

This is UE4 right? Whatever it is, I can only imagine that scene. Shiiit

I'm hoping if it's successful enough that they might consider doing 8 and 9 as well. Obviously, i'll take 7 for now, but damn those two sometime in the future would rock.

FF 9 didn't age badly. I replayed the PSN version a few years ago and it still holds up well.

No. The models are better than those in FF7, but they are still chunky, and the whole game still has those fuzzy PSX textures.

Like I said: I want a version where the whole game looks like the cutscenes.

It occurs to me that if you take that out, you've got an LGBT activist bloggosphere shitstorm incoming.

Someone warn Nomura before he makes that mistake. I could easily see that happening.

That shit better fucking stay in. Not as an LGBT statement or anything like that. I just firmly believe that the game should and must retain all of its humor and playfulness. Realistic visuals are no reason to forgo this.

When FF7 came out, I barely ate or slept for four days.

Remaking it successfully, so it's fun and playable but still authentic, is next to impossible. And the release is so far away, and there's so much that could go wrong.

But right now is not for worrying. Now is the time to enjoy the moment, and to dream.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Highlight of the game imo... you're absolutely right... first being introduced to the massive power of Sephiroth... holy shit...

Gonna post this here

Sunrise, Florida's reaction to The World of FF and FF7. They go nuts once they start to figure out that it's really FF7.

"SEPHIROTH IM COMING FOR YOU!!!"

lmao

I never got to play this game in its entirety surprisingly. Had a PSX and the demo from Tobal. I think I played the original PC version for a bit but never finished it. I get to see what all the fuss was about without the terribly blocky graphics. Gonna be great (hopefully)

I love FF, all of them, but I couldn't give a damn about XV right now, in this moment. It was dead the minute Nomura/KH team left.

I don't even agree with you (the team change doesn't upset me either), but god damn I'd be lying if I said that I feel hyped for the stuff they showed since TGS. All my hype is still for the stuff Nomura showed us during the Versus days.

You have to ask people to buy the most asked for remake in gaming history?

You don't think gamers would clamor for something for years and then "meh" it with a shrug once it gets close to release, just because one or two decisions were made that they don't agree with?

Yes, I have to ask. I'll be shocked if the desire for this game is maintained through to release. I've met too many gamers to think otherwise.

my memory is fuzzy with the details, but the plant with jenova and all the rejects. that rendered in full detail should be super creepy.

Exciting stuff!

Apprehensive about voice acting though, the main thing which has ruined the modern entries for me - the VO for the trailer is a nonsense.

Seeing the dead massive desert snake(that you have to bypass and kicks your ass if you fight it) was an amazing, subtle display of power.

Please be turn-based... that was basically one of the original's key features. I'm pretty confident they'll do a good job on everything else.

I want the original updated, expanded events for all members like someone else mentioned, more materia, ATB battle system (sticks with what works, don't want battles to be 'broken' or whatever), a NG+ and Final Mix-like optional superbosses. Anything added to the story, like what happenes pre-AC, I would GLADLY pay for as dlc.
I'd say pseudo-confirmed, with the phrase being "first on PS4" and not "only on PS4"

And I can't imagine a game like this hitting PS4 and XBO and not PC
I thought it was PS4/PC?

@Zombi13 Bahamut Zero, baby! Mmm.

I completely agree. A lot of people forget how playful of a game FF7 was.

I'd say the overriding emotions of FF7 were:

1. Melancholy
2. Playfulness

which is funny because as it's become this legend over the years, we tend to view it through a filter of badass/cool action (Advent Children certainly promoted that). But if you play the original game it's this world drenched in sadness, punctuated by moments of lighthearted humour.

The Shinra building and the bloody hallways.

I'm curious how much they can get away without making it tame. Unless they are going for an 18/M rating, that bloody hallway in 3D will probably be toned down from what you would expect.

At least that's what I expect.
