I just found out the news now. Holy fucking shitballs this is some of the greatest gaming news I have ever heard. I was a 12 year old when FF7 came it out and I absolutely cherish those memories with what is in my opinion one of the greatest games of all time. Hopefully they can replicate the magic.

I'm actually curious why there haven't been cell phone recordings released from the Sony event's show floor. Do they ban personal cameras and only allow press pictures or something?

Oh you mean he was a PRODUCER. Kinda like how Steven Spielberg PRODUCED the Michael Bay Transformers film. AKA Sakaguchi stopped in once in awhile to check up and ask for progress reports. He suggested ideas once in awhile but he's not in charge. Kitase was in charge. Sakaguchi was bouncing between multiple projects at the time, please do not give him credit for a game he had nearly nothing to do with. He was producing and supervising like 8 other games at the time.

back in the day I thought they tied in seemlessly and the events that are shown in both are 1:1?

Yeah, that's where I stand. The character designs and the graphical style was great too. But the story was shit. Man was it terrible.

If they aren't changing the story of VII (like adding some Genesis or Angeal bullshit) then everything will be fine. I went them to apply the Advent Children aesthetic to the original game, no more, no less.

Advent Children Complete is a pretty good anime, all things considering.

If this remake gets close to that level of visual polish and throws in a bunch of new content, my year will have been made.

Final Fantasy 7, with that story of a planet that is suffering because some human retards, where people fights for their lives, and the life of the planet, and where both life and death are so related and present, with an small group of heroes that risks their lives to save everyone, is so so goofy and cheerful that Avent Children serious aestethic becomes awful and it's not like FF VII is suposed to be.

Am I right?

Advent Children's character design was fantastic, yeah, I especially loved AC Tifa.

Her fight in the iconic church is easily my favorite scene in the film.

Loved reading the reactions when this was announced, excellent job GAF :)

I am stoked as heck for this game, it's going to seem like a lifetime until that wonderful day it is released. When that day comes, our lives will be complete.

I marked out when Kadaj's sword turned into the Masamune in Advent Children. That was basically the anime equivalent to ShitJustGotReal.gif

you have a point. giving everything the AC aesthetics would indeed fit the serious and dark tone of the story better. But then the goofy moments in the story will become reaaally awkward though. (hoping for everyting in AC style myself though)

Yep you already can tell from the responses to the original question. Some people really want full 3D environments with a free camera to look around. That will cause this remake to take an astronomical amount of time. They should stick with REmake approach and have high quality character models and recreate the prerendered scenes. It will look a bit jarring with the overworld and some of the minigames being fully 3d though. They're in a tough spot and will not be able to please most.

I need to rewatch Advent Children at some point. Absolutely love the action in that film and nothing tops the Sephiroth reveal and the theme busting in all Rising style as the battle gets legit.

IMAGINE if that shit happened in the game.




Oh and also put me in the camp of one person (me) in the world that loved the shit out of Dirge of Cerberus. I still have my copy.
