Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

Judging by the Xbox feedback page, people seem to confuse backward compatibility with remaster. I see several comments asking for improve framerate, patches, bug fixes...
They don't seem to realize that it's actually emulation so we might end up with more problems than before. just be glad we can at least play those games on xbox one.
On the silent hill HD collection some are asking for fixes loll that wont happen.

So has disc backwards compatibility been enabled yet? Like for instance can I play Banjo Nuts & Bolts since that's currently on the list?

Also, will we eventually be able to buy digital 360 games directly on the Xbox One?

It doesn't guarantee it, but that would be a smart initiative for MS.

https://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/2...all-the-upcoming-gwg-xbox-360-games-compatibl

You can vote for that here, although if MS were smart they would make it part of the deal. Want your game to go free with gold? You need to agree to it being BC with XB1.

I don't know why anyone would say no though, if they're putting it up for GWG it'll be to maximize monetization from that game, why wouldn't they go a step further and enable it for xbox one owners also and make even more $? Saying no to BC sort of contradicts the whole reasoning for putting it up for GWG in the first place imo.

I think disc works, but the games I have on the list are digital so I already downloaded them.

Based on how they are having you DL the games from the store, but there is no storefront as of now, I expect that at Gamescom they will announce that any and all whitelisted games will be purchasable from the new XBO store. Makes way to much sense not to have it in there.

Well, they definitely need to sort the DLC situation out first. :p

Yup it will just prompt you to install it when the disc is in and will ask you to keep the disc in for verification purposes

Top 10 list on Xbox Uservoice right now:

I hope more publishers jump on the free 360 game with an Xbox one game bandwagon. We've got Fallout 3 and both Rainbow Six games so far, How about Dark Souls with DS3, Gears with Gears, Halo with Halo ect ect?

Be a pretty nice bonus to have.

I tried uploading some saved games from my 360 to the Cloud so I could fetch them on the X1.

Anyone has been able to copy PD0 saves over??? It says it can't copy it to the cloud :(

Only really RDR i would be interested in actually playing again from that list and im 99% sure that Halo Reach will come to the MCC at some point.

Have MS actually said they are going to take notice of this list and actually make the games that have the highest votes a priority ??

Why do they have to get the publishers approvals for making the game playable on X1?
Did Sony do the same when they made PS2 play PS1 games, or PS3 play both PS2 and PS1 games?

When they started dgitally distributing those games... yea, they did.

If the Xbox One was actually reading all the data off the disc, then it wouldn't be necessary. That's not what's happening here though. Even with a disc, MS is still sending you the entire game via download.

Did PD0 ever support cloud saves? It may be too old.

I think it supported the old method of cloud saves where it attaches saves to your xbox live profile on the servers but it might have been only for multiplayer stuff.

I am pretty sure I uploaded my perfect dark saves when cloud saves became available on 360.

They said first party is easier so out of that list Gears and Halo are definitely in

I don't think it has anything to do with letting you play your old games again, I think the legal issues come in play when MS start selling those games again, they can't just start selling publishers games with no permission from them.

Yeah. That's my fear for some games. Left 4 Dead 2 is practically busted as it is. There is no use in pushing for patches of anything. Not logical and it will not happen.

You should be able to move it (it can't be copied), or you might have to start the game and choose cloud as a save location.

So they are running full emulation interesting...

I wonder if multiplayer servers will be moved to Azure once a publisher agrees on BC on their old games (in the case of those which use servers for multi). Might as well be a very interesting hook for publishers and developers.

No cost of maintenance of servers. Games are sold for cheap (digital) on Xbox One Store. Huge + for gamers who have a library of Xbox360 (both disc based and digital) games. Also works for stores like gamestop since it moves the market of used games a lot more...

I think this could be very huge...and beneficial for all parties involved.

Phil specifically mentioned that all first party titles will come - except Kinect games. Multi-disc stuff will take longer because they need to repackage them as a single download and the way the files were split up is different on a game by game basis. Some games had you swap discs in the middle of playing, some games just installed one disc and then played off the second, etc.

lmao that is some great reading. The mod that changed the thread title should get a "Phil owns my soul" tag.

What I'm wondering is, since the Xbox One is running the Xbox 360 OS in a wrapper, and the 360 OS could emulate some OG Xbox games, could this run OG Xbox games? I wonder... Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Halo CE, 2 would be awesome. I'm curious if that's even possible - they'd probably have to pay Nvidia - and it would probably be more efficient to just emulate OG Xbox hardware on the Xbox One. If they could do that I'd be floored.

I don't see ME2 coming any time soon then

Argh I want to play Viva piñata but at the same time I want to wait for the improved edition that will come with the Rare collection this August.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm willing to bet any amount of money that EA wont allow ME3 to be part of it.

You just know they have a Mass Effect Trilogy HDHD re-remaster waiting in the wings as part of the hype train for ME:Andromeda. Backwards compatibility would eat into those sales.

If they were smart they would include the Xbox 360 versions with any remasters or sequels for free like Bethesda is doing with Fallout 4 + Fallout 3 360 included.

They said yesterday they have no interest in doing remasters.

Found the Viva Pinata disc last night and played for a while. Everything about the game was fantastic - graphics, music, the goofy characters.... Only thing I don't like is the repetitive whacking of items to destroy them.

Ah, true.

Isn't that what you do to a Pinata?

On the topic of Mass Effect, i think it is a safe bet to assume EA will add 360 games to EA Access Vault soon. A nice way to add value since they have so few new games launching this gen.

saw someone mention this last night, but didnt get a chance to see if they got a reply...now cant find their post.

Would it be possible for EA access to put up 360 games on xbox one now? Or does it not work that way at all
