How many of you will be attempting to level the new jobs as the servers open?
I'm on the fence about this. I would like to begin leveling Machinist right away and yet at the same time I don't want to get to the new story dungeons after everyone has done then already.

I think im gonna designate a certain amount of time to unlocking and leveling dark, but priority is exploring Dravania + getting Paladin up to 60. Unless you're really itching to main a new job, I think its more of a focus to unlock new areas and dungeons + story first.

Awesome, I'll look into this on my next login.I'd also recommend you take a look at the Filters settings tab. You can have it set so a button combo switches which targets become targetable. For example you can have one for just enemies engaged instead of the default everything in front of you.
6 months? Are you sure you don't mean like 18 months? The time you are describing is 2.0 befoee 2.1, which was a very long time ago. 2.4 come out like 7 months ago? And 2.5 was like 4 months ago.
Also, yeah you're screwed, you have like 20 hours of mainline story quests still to do before you can access Heavenward content.

Mine is 19.something. And that's after the HW install, which said it was a 10GB download after this morning's 4GB download.

That's the same size as mine and I only downloaded the 3.6 GB patch.

I think I'll be going through the story full force. I'm just uncertain which class to take through first. WAR or MNK. Probably MNK since its my main. May take a little longer, but...ah well.

Did you have normal or CE version? I am getting nothing on normal and some weird flashing thing happening in the store.
I went ahead and pre-ordered the expansion on Steam. It will be a while until I can explore the new areas but I figured since I'm going to buy it eventually I should just get it over with. And that also means I can join in on the millions of other's making an Au Ra character. I'm tempted to play dress up with a female character but I'm a guy so maybe I should just stick to being male. This is an important decision.

Honestly, I'm conflicted. On one hand, I really want to level Machinist. I'm also very excited to do the story, so it's pretty likely I'll start there- but I'm not sure whether to play as Monk, the only job I've really played seriously, or Dragoon, which I just got to 50 right before the maintenance (in this case, Heavensward would be a completely different experience than ARR since I'll have to learn a totally new rotation).
GLA to 22. As a tank you absolutely need Provoke. The rest is more or less optional but Provoke is mandatory.
Provoke from GLD is the must have cross-class.
I bought the standard edition on the store.
Yep, downloading other part of patch after notification by PSN. I think once servers are up I'm going to go at least unlock the new classes first, gather some gear/play around in some fates with them for an hour or so and then start leveling BRD or BLM. It's two weeks until Alexander I think that's what was said, plenty of time to do what I want.
It's in less than five hours from now.

Got my pre-order activated and downloaded the remaining files to play! Pretty excited about this xpac honestly. The new content looks amazing. I have a character on Ultros and I believe I was in the Guild FC. I was inactive for a few months though, and I'm worried I was booted out. Could someone reinvite me if this is the case? Got a friend on a different server that I will be playing with sometimes as well, but I def. wanna level with GAF!
