I actually like the rock angle with that one SFV song. The other song however seems like a generic imitation of the electronic angle they went with SFV. I say they should go full on with the rock route or go back to the drum n bass / hip hop route they went with Third Strike. Anything but going back to the tired SF4 electronic angle.

meeeh... I'd rather not. I love drum and bass but they went drum and bass in SF3 because hip hop was just at a all time high late 1990's and early 2000's, I'd rather they go with whats hot right now in the mainstream music genre. (it matters to casuals)

Tomorrow I'll do a more in depth write up probably while flying in so I'll have as many answers as I can give to the questions PM'd. Spent a good portion of the day testing various things with ultradavid to see if they work. Definitely some interesting things. I had a great time playing the game for sure though. Can't wait for EVO and then the beta

Drum and bass is rooted in a lot more than just hip hop. Plus there was almost zero hiphop in the character themes across all three games. But it doesn't lend itself well to the aesthetic of this game, so the stuff we've heard so far is fine. Rock isn't very hot in the mainstream at all though.

okay but hip hop is still front and back of that game, intro, character select screen, ending and even during the staff roll. while there are lots Jazz and techno elements in a lot of the songs, you cannot ignore the choice of musical theme was because of the mainstream music choice at the time.

True, but beside the intro, those other tracks are afterthoughts when people say those games have great ost's. Hip hop added a lot to third strike's presentation, but what people really care about is the character themes. Except for the ast character select.

Aris' sentiment regarding Tekken 7 mirrors my own. SF5 seems at least somewhat ambitious. Tekken 7 makes it seem like Namco doesn't have confidence in the future of the franchise, and they're just reaping what they can from their remaining base of fans.

Yeah, I remember a lot of people going "that's it?!" on the reveal, after hearing a lot of rumors about T7 being a reboot.

Is there any way to make a fight stick work as a 360 controller on PC?
Yeah there's a software that allows it. That's also how I use my PS4 controller to work as a 360 controller on PC.

I know some people have used a fight stick to play DMC on PC.

I was really hoping t7 was gonna be mechanically a lot different but I guess they did that with 4 and everyone hated it. Still psyched to try it tho.

Namco does seem really cautious with Tekken. Capcom takes more risks with SF in general.

That said, I think Namco being tied to the arcade audience handcuffs them some, because arcadegoers want some long-term value out of their coins- so those silly execution techniques- they want to keep being rewarded for what they learned a decade ago. A console game can take more chances.

Plug it in? I'm assuming it's a 360 fight stick.

PS3/PS4 fight sticks- it depends on the game

Ive already tried that of course, which is why I said the x360ce emulator doesnt work.

My sticks are all modded with a ps360+ pcb, except for my HRAP4 which is a PS4 stick

Random Fighting Game Question:

Why do you guys think 3d fighters didn't take over the genre as much as other 3d game did other genres?

3D fighters took the place of 2D fighters in the late nineties (and continued to sell during the 2000 era) for multiple reasons: more impressive technology, freshness of their characters, expectations of players better understood by developpers (change from arcade to console play), simplification of mechanics and simply novelty.
Meanwhile Capcom and SNK were doing overly complicated games with game modes appealing to their hardcore audience. When you had 3 ism in Alpha 3 for three ways to play, you had Tekken, Tekken Force and Tekken Ball in Tekken 3 for example. It was still 3 ways to play without doing a too much complicated core game.

In the 2009 era, Namco made the same mistake Capcom and SNK did in the late nineties, while Capcom and others did exactly what made 3D fighters shine years before: new technologies, simplier gameplay, etc...

GeoNeo

I disagree.
You are a horrible person

Let me be more clear:

1. She seems good at the game and is damn adorable.

2. She is not wearing some skimpy outfit to gain viewers like some female twitch streamers.

I know very well she will get a ton of thirsty peeps but there is nothing wrong with that, I genuinely think she is interesting to watch will gain viewership. Next big FGC star? Rise Up PogChamp

If it's a PS360+, try forcing Xbox 360 mode. IIRC you do it by holding Medium Punch (Triangle/Y) as you plug it into the PC. It should show up as an Xbox 360 controller now.

X1 FGW-GAF, how is the system for a luddite like myself? Will I still need to connect it to the internet for the initial install? I'm considering getting one after E3 haha.

I wonder how many will stick to SF4 or play both.

I think there will be more than people think. Too many people are enamored by how many characters are in it, and the fact that it was their first game.

And...we haven't experienced enough of 5 to know how that will turn out.
