Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

Batman ports on pc have a history but they still run better than their versions on ps3 and xbox 360.

and mostly no game comes out without bugs. whatever on consoles or pc. you want the game to be buggy without patching it ?

i understand where you coming from that they already took your money. but it was your own fault you didn't wait to see how it performs before you buy the game assuming you already know there is a " history" of batman games going south on pc. just like the res tof us who didn't wait.

You got 2 options:
1- refund the game and wait till it get patched then buy it again
2- refund the game and buy the PS4/ xbox one version even though you know later on the PC version after patches will run much better than your Ps4 version.

personally i will be sticking with a 3rd option " kinda forced to it too" which is wait for a patch and not refund the game because i got it for 21$ "not 60$"

Well, I didn't buy it. ;) A friend gave me his Nvidia code cuz he is not a fan of the Arkham games. He did not want anything in return but I gifted him a cute little game.

Even with that I still feel cheated. Mostly for others who paid full price. Thank god for Steam refunds.

Oh boy this thread. I had earmarked the night to dive into this, but maybe I should just start another game and give this a week to get patched and get SLI working

There isn't a debate. Where is anyone else saying the game looks better on PS4 compared to highest settings on PC?

Well I'm having the debate, even if its just with myself.

Watching videos of it back to back, the ps4 version looks better to me.

Performance issues aside, am I the only one who thinks there is a huge downgrade in the graphics quality? Everything looks washed out and low res with all settings maxed out. I have arkham origins installed and that game has better graphics!

WB seems to search for cheap studios for PC ports (High Voltage on MK even with High Voltage bad history with ports). but even if they want to save money WB could've just let Monolith Productions (Mordor PC version was top-notch) or WB Montreal do it instead of outsourcing it to a cheap studio with no history on PC ports.

I wonder who is porting it to Mac and SteamOS, maybe they turn out better. It's not like they can turn out even worse.

Not really I hated my life when I played Witcher 3 on PS4, regained it back when I ran it 60fps on my PC.

Don't remind me about Witcher 3, I wish they would fix the LOD issues in that game , I have SLI 980s and still get ridiculous pop-ins , even when running Medium at 1080p. Great game. I might actually replay it and not patch the game since I heard the later patches mess with the game.

I think it looks like shit and I ran the game at 4k.

Holy cow I just found the mother of all game breaking things.

Was doing a tank challenge and suddenly the frame rate dropped to zero and stayed there. It was like playing in super shitty slow motion. Had to kill the game through the Task Manager.

Eww.

the filters the game is using are making it look like this, it heavily uses chromatic aberration and it has a low grain filter, i dont know what kind of AA they are using but it has a ghosting effect and blurs the shit out of the textures

I feel sorry for anyone who bought a gpu specifically for this game...

Also, I have a ps4, and I got this free with my 970, but I just can't bring myself to buy a ps4 version and support the game when the PC version is in the state it is.

Principles > video game, why a I built this way. ;_;

PS - any way to disable motion blur yet?

Honestly sounds like it needs patch work. It's not going to fix everything but it'll sort a lot of the serious stuff. Great that we have another sub-standard game on release though.

This is absolutely frustrating and unbelievable. The game won't even launch on my computer. It's stuck in this endless loop of trying to launch and synch something at the same time. Every time it's about to launch it seems as though something kills the process and it tries to launch over, and over again. I know my comp can handle it as I can play both the Witcher 3 and GTA V.

I wouldnt go that far. The game has nice lighting and reflections. The destructability is also cool. I do think that there is an excessive amount of blur and poor textures on a fair few number of things. I was expecting better tbh

Running a 770 4GB GPU and its so damn smooth. I uncapped FPS to 90 and don't notice any dips outside of super duper heavy scenes. Everything is maxed out except gameworks stuff and shadows are low.

Just feel bad for RockSteady. Doubt this is how they wanted the launch of something they worked hard for the last four years go over something they had no control over.

I would get a refund for the PS4 version too but I preordered the Collector's Edition Months ago and it shipped. I'm too lazy to ship it back to the US.

The aliasing in this game is very noticeable even at 4k with Anti-aliasing on, I'm too sensitive to Jaggies . This makes my eyes hurt.

You shouldn't have killed the game, that goes against everything Batman stands for.

Performance? Sure. Stability? Not in a million years. That game was a buggy mess on PC, with game-breaking bugs, being trapped in objective rooms, loading into endless voids, etc

Edit: they even said fuck it, we're not updating the game anymore:
http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=766091

Weren't those issues on all platforms though?

Not really. My experience with 3 Denuvo games now have been full of stuttering when streaming in levels. Can't be a coincidence.

Yes, your personal experiece with three games is definitely proof that Denuvo causes stuttering and performance issues. Funnily enough I have also played two Denuvo games, and neither of them had any issues with stuttering. Can't be a coincidence, can it?

Mine was stuck at launch until I read to try it on windowed mode.

Had to install Nvidia Experience so I could make the game launch in windowed mode but it seems to have worked so far.

Excuse me? No control over? LOL.

If they would have put as much effort to optimise pc version as they did for PS4 this thread wouldn't have more pages than the OT.

Fuck rocksteady.

I got a copy free with my 970, so I'm not worried about losing money, but reading all this is disappointing.

Same here. It sucks really as although it was free it was a nice surprise, and now I've got to find £40 to get the PS4 version. Tbf still have Witcher 3 so this game will have to wait. Maybe in a few months time the PC port will actually be playable -.-

Serious? They are just as much to blame as WB, and more so than Iron Galaxy right now.

Watch Dogs stuttered as hell and didn't have Denuvo, what's your point?

Yeah, I remember that as well. I played it on a single 680 with all the PhysX stuff enabled and I pretty much never dropped below 60.

You sure? I have an over clocked 670 and with all nvidia stuff enabled and when the electric fists are activated the game drops into the 30s and twenties.

Ended up turning physx down to normal to keep my 60fps average..

The load times and sub-par performance I've experienced in the PS4 games I own don't exactly provide a "problem free experience".

I haven't heard a review for this game specifically that talked about any technical issues which this game has tons for different people with different setups on PC or mention any crazy framedrops.(On the PS4)

At least for this game the PS4 Version doesn't seem bad if you are crashing like crazy , hitching or having large framedrops.

Rocksteady has nothing to do with the PC port. Blame Iron Galaxy.

Fuck rocksteady.

A separate studio ported the game over to PC. Rocksteady was only in charge of the PS4 and Xbox One versions. If anything blame Warner Brothers for not giving Rocksteady extra time to also work on the PC port as well.

Uh RockSteady is just the developer. Warner Brother publishes. This port was apparently developed by Iron Galaxy? Even if it was RockSteady it's still up to WB to make sure they give them enough resources to put out a competent port or hire someone else to do it. Like I doubt they just looked at the PC build one day and thought "well lets just put in one final touch:

/ / This is PC only, who cares.

lol done".

It is always nice when people defending DRM.
Well, another problem worth the consideration is, if the port is already bad, why putting Denuvo on it?
It's like putting a lock on a bike missing one wheel.
Because with GFWL dead they need to keep the ports broken.

What the hell, 5 discs for the retail PC version but it will only install the "first" 8GB, the rest (25GB) has to be downloaded through steam.... fuck you each other the Warner Brothers, rocksteady you can join them.

It......looks like they did.....

Yeah...I will say that I didn't have any of the issues anyone is reporting when I played for a couple hours last night. I didn't try to unlock the frame rate but with everything on my temps were only reporting 28-35c..which is unheard of.

I bought a new PC with Arkham Knight in mind (Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.4GHz / 16gigs of Ram / SSD drive / Titan X).
And it's not running well.

I tinkered with it, but it feels highly unstable and the frame dips get to me.
I could probably either wait for fixes or spend more time on getting the settings right, but I think I'm over that now.

Witcher 3 and GTA V run with well above stable 60 FPS with everything on max. settings.

I requested a refund on steam for the game and the season pass (Shame, Shame).

I'll be getting the PS4 version from Amazon tomorrow.
Jesus son, are you made of money? Why not play it on PC for a week or two and then catch it on PS4 on the inevitable sale?

And the hyperboles are crawling in.
Can't wait for "This looks like an early PS2 game" or "Superman 64 looked better than this shit".

I'm not Hyperboling , I think it looks like shit , Not a PS2 game , It looks better than PS3 games thats for sure . Like I said above , The aliasing in this game bugs the crap out of me. I mean seriously no joke , run the game at 4k , turn on AA and you still see tons of jaggies.

WTF.

Are you sure there is not something else going on? With a single Titan X, I am able to play at 45-60 fps in 4K with everything on ultra and gameworks on. That's with the most recent drivers and afterburner running in the background (not over clocked). If you have overclocked, you may be exposing weaknesses with the boost you forced. Try going back to the original state. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), this is part of the PC experience - tinkering. Sometimes I think I spend more time doing that than playing the game.

With SLI Titan X, I have ---fps with everything on ultra and gameworks on in 4K. Buttery smooth! Edit: nope. It's not using the second card for some awful reason. So 45 fps typically.

SLI Titan X super locked edition
I5-3570k at 4.2 ghz
24 gb ram

It is always nice when people defending DRM.

And as I said previously in the thread it's happened before that a DRM solution has tanked game performance, I forgot what game it was but the only solution to get it to run smoothly was to apply a crack to your legitimetaly purchased game. Because the DRM sucked ass. :lol
