There was a very small update on Steam, content BuildID changed. No idea what that was, but at least there seems to be activity.

I'm just totally guessing here, but could that have something to do with the integrity verification issues? Checksums and all that.

been offline for a few hours, any updates? I downloaded a 43mb file on steam but I think that was just a piece of the dlc.

Damn. Sucks to hear about the PC version being a train wreck.

That said, I'm fine with waiting for a patch. Was tempted to try it out today since I have it preloaded, but I am only like 1/3 through Wild Hunt still and don't want to get distracted.

Hoping to get decent frames and fidelity on my rig.

Oh wow, that could actually be true. I just tried the integrity check and it works now for me

Edit: But I guess people should wait until it's officially confirmed. There is still a chance that it could delete the game again.

Ok I'm going to call conspiracy here. I'm going try my best rationalise to prevent sounding mad, here goes....

Nvidia, the way it's meant to be played... The whole gameworks initiative means that the games must be worked on with the help of nvidia to an extent. Nvidia try and tack on many effects and in most cases they will push HBAO+. They didn't this time though. Nvidia must of known the developer was not going to support AO prior on the PC as they are intrinsically involved in the development at some point.

Nvidia knew the PC would not have this feature, but did nothing. This games is a card seller: I do associate the best batman game experience with Nvidia and PC. Up until now ofcourse. When has a game ever came out where the PC version is missing feature that the consoles have? I don't know, perhaps it has happened before. What I do know is, even if my PC can't run a game, I expect it to at least have the same features as the console. I can even forgive a game with bugs that cause it not to run at launch - stuff happens, games are complex and a small mistake can cause a lot of trauma. One thing I can't forgive is intentionally hacking off graphical features like AO for any reason on a PC title.

I'f we're going off the reservaiton on this one, I'd say that selling more G-sync monitors is the real goal of the NVidiaatti conspiracy here.

What do G-sync monitor alleviate? Frame variance!

How do we get people to buy more G-sync monitors?

Introduce more frame rate variance into games!!!

???

Profit!!!

Well first, the blame lies with the publisher. Its their job to ensure everything lines up - from QA to development to corresponding release dates.

Sounds to me like in this case they wanted to just launch a game that clearly wasnt performing well to save money of a delay.

Indeed, it came to release time, they couldn't delay one version, so became pragmatic with the issues.

A 2015 PC port that not only barely runs but:

- highest textures is "Normal"
- No AO
- Cant turn off Film Grain
- Cant turn off CA
- 30 fps cap unless ini tweaks
- uses basically the entire RAM of ypur GPU regardless of how much you have

Total catastrophe.

exactly, before this weren't ppl downplaying the negative aspects of modern PC game releases as "oh it's only Dark Souls and it was patched" other excuses for other stuff. Now what do they have to say?

Nvidia did nothing?

It's not their game to do anything. They can only suggest features and clearly the actual developer knows what technologies Nvidia has to offer. HBAO+ would've been great. Funny enough, the hair on the waitress in the first seen looks better than ANY of the Nvidia Hairworks stuff I've seen so far.

Either way, AO not working at all is completely oversight on the developers end... or, like the Other Ocean developer is trying to tell people on Twitter, the Publishers fault.

At least the hair is better. What res is the pc running in the video? Might explain how its generally better looking minus AO

Xbox is pretty darn blurry overall, must 900p or something

Bah, won't even bother to play the game, until they patch this garbage.
I could play the game at 30fps and suck it up, but even without AO? FFS.

PC footage from that video looks incredibly washed out.

It's a bug dude - I'm 99% sure this will be one of the first things to get solved in the first patch. The lack of AO just seems like a broken toggle, nothing more.

Well honestly though, no company announces that. I don't remember Rockstar North or Ubisoft Montreal doing that either.

Square-enix always announces it when nixxes does one of their PC ports. Then again, nixxes has a great reputation with making PC versions.

tried for about 30 minutes on my 2500K @ 4.0 ghz and 970, and performance was shit. I also had never cancelled my ps4 order, and played that to about the same point. Its like massively better on PS4. Smooth locked 30fps, and for some reason it looks better visually.

On my 970 it was locked 30 but ridiculous stutters every so often, with hiitches were it would completely pause for a bit.

What a trainwreck...

Any other 970 owners care to comment on their experiences? The batmobile sections run like dog shit, a lot of freezing and stuttering

in the scene where you first call in the batmobile, the second it came on screen my game dropped to literally 0 fps. Then single digits after. i had to turn off all NVidia features for a playable state at 30 fps, but it still frequently drops to high teens, low 20's

Guess that's vindication for all the folks who kept saying the PS4 footage "just looked better".

Ive got it running at solid 1080p/60fps and little to no stuttering on a 7970 and 16gb ram after editing the file. I dont have any of the nvidia shit running tho. I had a remote desktop program running that kept messing with it.
Love it so far. Batmobile is awesome when you figure everything out. Its a gorgeous game too.
E: i also downloaded the driver beta in the op.

Ok I finished the integrity check. Two files failed, 26,5 KB downloaded.

Edit: The two files were the intro movies which I had renamed. But the integrity check works for me now.

There has to be something really weird causing the performance problems.

I have your exact config, 2500K @ 4.0 ghz and a GTX970 and I'm playing it at 1440p capped at 30 with all gameworks activated except smoke and fog.

I played for 3 hours without crashing and with a few minor frame drops when a lot was happening on screen.

It's 60 fps here in Chrome, you also have to change the quality on the video to "Source"

Anyway, that stream is definitely stuttering though. I have noticed it when he moves the camera around quickly. It's very similar to what I've been experiencing on my 980 Ti

Chrome is good. If you right click the stream and click view stats you get a good idea of resolution and framerate etc.

Thanks, Chrome did the trick. I have to agree with x3sphere here. It's stuttering, no doubt about it. When he exited the gcpd in the batmobile the frame rate dipped well below 60fps 3 or 4 times within the following 30-45 seconds. If he would only enable a frame rate counter we could settle this discussion right away. :)

I think it's time we all admit that Gameworks is indeed as shitty and detrimental to PC gaming as AMD have been making out.
considering the game runs bad on nvidia and amd alike even without gameworks features on, i don't think scapegoating gameworks is really the solution here

I agree. The lack of AO is probably the main reason why some people are saying the game looks better on PS4.

I really wanted to play the game. 30 fps lock (in practice) did not bother me. Stuttering did not bother me. Lack of optional CA did not bother me. But AO ... It is such an important aspect of how the world is presented. I think it is time to go back to the backlog and wait for them to fix this crap.

Is this what it's come to, lying about problems on a game you don't own to be a part of the outrage culture?

Game works great for me, 7 hours in.

Stats aren't showing for me either on steam community, I can't even check achievements. Not a good indicator.

I mean, its like I don't own the game because it doesn't show I own it.

No. That was just idiot PS4 fanboys comparing the earlier, superior, in numerous obvious ways (to anyeon with working eyes), PC footage vs the latter PS4 footage.

They obviously weren't talking about the end result on PC.

Here's a clue: most things PS4 fanboys say about the PS4 should be taken with a big fat grain of salt.

What we've noticed is that the PC version stuttering seemingly gets worse the longer you play it. It starts off as hitching and gradually gets worse over the course of an hour or so to the point where the audio is effected and it is happening frequently and for longer periods. I'm tempted to say it has to be some kind of memory leak or something for that to happen.

The PS4 just works with a steady frame rate

Definitely something fucky going on.

Are the @Rock notes in the ini files for Rocksteady? I mean, clearly they didn't commission this title and release it sight-unseen... but I don't know why they're pretending to be shocked by the issues here. Just own your mistakes and be upfront... why is that so hard?

for some reason my steam now says "Update queued" next to arkham knight. Anyone know whats up? there isnt an update downloading or anything

So the folks on GAF that were saying that are idiot fanboys? Going by the comparison footage, even though the PS4 footage is softer it DOES look better thanks to it not lacking AO.

PC box - rocksteady clearly wanting to take the credit before all the problems hit

Someone should photoshop it with the rocksteady crossed out in red ink with Iron Galaxy above it

Well, I just played the game for about 2 hours and maybe it's too early to tell, but so far so good.

The game stuttered a little at the intro, but that was probably because I had 4k DSR on. As soon as I changed res to 1080p and everything on "max" including Gameworks all 4 options on, the game was a steady 30 fps. Including driving batmobile. Everything was just smooth with no issues.
Last half hour I increased DSR 2x, turned off smoke effect and it still was 30 fps smooth. Here is hoping it lasts, cause it looks and plays great so far.

Have a 970, SSD, 4790k, win 8.1, 8GB RAM.
uncap it to 60 or leave at 30?
