Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Yep, basically this.
Disney is very mellow with theme parks right now while Universal is going all out.
Disney probably wanted some kind of working together without any (or very little plans) for theme parks things, so Universal came along, gave them a better plan and Nintendo went along with them for theme parks, while still giving the rights for everything else (movies, games and toys) to Disney.

It happened with harry potter (minus disney getting anything becuase they basically said to JK Rowling, fuck you we are not making a whole theme park for you) but the movie rights are still Warners while universal has the rides.

Ridley, for the love of rides, translate the article. I summon thee!

Reading the original article, going by Google Translate (I know), it seems that Amazon would be IN ADDITION to iOS and Android, not that their games would be Amazon only. Better wait for someone who is actually spanish to get a better picture.

This is the article with the new stuff, btw

http://www.revogamers.net/noticias/...luido-un-videojuego-mario-y-mickey-16184.html

Spanish was my first language, so here's my translation of the Amazon tidbits:

-When Iwata announced their new mobile initiative, Amazon approached them and told them they wanted Nintendo's games on Amazon's app store too
-Iwata liked the idea, and asked Amazon if it would be possible to get Amazon's appstore games running on Nintendo's own hardware
-Nintendo's games would be on Amazon's appstore day 1, or at least close to the same day as on other appstores
-Nintendo has some sort of Android emulation in mind. Their hardware won't be running Android games natively.

I'm just translating, so don't come after me if this all turns out to be BS ;P

Nintendo, the company that just signed a theme park agreement with Universal, is now going in with Disney.

OK.

Does Disney have licensing partners in their theme parks for properties they don't own? I thought Disney was really particular about their parks, meaning they wouldn't have even been an option for Nintendo.

Thanks for the translation! Gives a better picture of what the relation to Amazon would be.

So, full translations from yours truly:

This article is seven months old, but has information to be revealed if the rumors are true

Also take into account this rumor was released before any of this information was known, so the source was right in almost everything up until now except the DI deal, who has not been confirmed yet.

Three big rumors about the amiibo expansion have reached Revogamers through our collaborator ricardo2001, always well-informed and with connections inside the videogame industry.

According to his amazon contacts, Nintendo is preparing to expand his amiibo reach for the next year with deals with third parties. They have two main intentions, bring iconic characters to its consoles, like Sonic from SEGA and Pac-Man for Bandai-Namco, and to bring their NFC-based figures to the other developers that work on them, like Skylanders from Activision and Disney Infinitive from Disney Interactive.

But its not only that, according to his sources, the release date for the first wave of toys od 2015 its already set, and they are going to start releasing the bad guys from the game.

This are the rumors ricardo2001 is telling us:
1.- The third wave is releasing on Febrary.
2.- Villains are coming, like Wario. Pac-Man and Sonic are releasing too.
3.- Nintendo wants amiibo to be compatible with Skylandres and Disney Infinity in 2015

None of this rumors have been confirmed by Nintendo or another official source.

I am working in the second translation for the article that was released today

Yep, basically this.
Disney is very mellow with theme parks right now while Universal is going all out (avatar land was a fuking mistake that are going to bite them in the ass, and they are still building shangai disneyland, so ther are no near future theme parks plans for them).

Well Disney Hollywood Studios is about to get completely revamped in a multi year park-wide rehab but for the most part, Universal builds better, smarter and faster these days.
I bet we will be blown away by what they make.
Disney will make money on the merch if it's tied into the Nintendo movie properties.

Is it implying that it would be exclusive to the Amazon app store or that Nintendo would still release on iOS and Android's appstore, but that the Amazon app store games would be made available on Nintendo's hardware?

The weird thing is, if you watch LAST year's E3 Digital presentation, when Reggie first announced Amiibo, he said there would be special, exclusive functionality with Disney Infinity, and we haven't heard anything since.

Also, the whole thing with Mickey meeting up with Mario was based on recent comments by Disney Intereactive

"Hopefully, the day Mario meets Mickey Mouse is not that far away," Disney Interactive vice president of production John Vignocchi said in an interview.

Taken from here:

Still, this is pretty nuts!

Yeah, we're in a new era. Anything is possible, both good and bad.

Seriously talking though, Mario is basically the gaming equivalent to Mickey Mouse.

They are both classics from the golden era who are essentially timeless due to their designs. Nothing will ever replace them

Makes sense that they should eventually meet imo

There's no implication of exclusivity in the article. It explicitly mentions that Amazon would be in addition to Apple and Google:

además de las tiendas de Google y Apple, sus juegos para móviles estarán en la tienda de Amazon, si no el primer día, no mucho después.

The bolded means "in addition to the stores of Google and Apple."

Nice, that could be huge then. Nintendo would be able to fill their console with their own mobile games as well as ports from other mobile games, while still being available on the iOS and Android stores.

Still not sure what to think of it but, Nintendo has made a lot of changes and I think they realize they need to continue to evolve to be a major player in the industry.

Oh, right, the part about Nintendo/Android emulation would be quite important, if it turns out to be true.

Anyone tried scanning amiibo on the free disney infinity thing ? xD

Beautiful! I've added this to the OP, thanks.

Yeah, in my opinion there is no way Nintendo will have another succesful console ever again.
So what they need to do is be smart about their IP and look for way to make with with it. Be it films, toys, games(maybe even 3rd party).

I was actually thinking this should/could happen.

Should?

Disney has completely downsized their entire video game division down to mobile games and Disney infinity.

That and a vastly different corporate culture make any kind of buyout a catastrophe waiting to happen.

What makes you think this is a good idea, aside from the fact they share a target audience for most of their products?

I don't know why people keep assuming that a MarioXMickey crossover would be a Kingdom Hearts equivalent (Mushroom Hearts). Square Enix was allowed access to Disney properties, and developed the game within a genre they know best; RPGs. If we are to assume Nintendo will do the same, then a platforming game (preferably 3D) is what should be expected.

Well that makes it sound slightly less plausible. Would Nintendo suddenly get a cut of Amazon App Store games?

I don't see the benefit of them selling games they don't get a cut of.

I could easily see the Nintendo and Disney thing happening.

We already got a Skylanders deal happening with DK and Bowser being pack-ins for the Wii U (DK), Wii and 3DS versions (Bowser), so Disney wanting Nintendo to let them make Mario and Company into figures for DI is logically sound :). I could see Infinity 4.0 having Classic Disney be a focus with guest stars from other game series (KH's is a shoe-in if that happens), so Mario jumping in that makes sense.

Mario reportedly is having a larger role than any of the gaming cameo's had in the original Weck-it-Ralph for its sequel and lastly, we already got a Mario and Sonic series (though its a mini-game collection), so a similar deal with Mickey and Mario makes since too.

Disney and Nintendo working together is smart, as both have tons of IP that resonated with all generations; it prints money just on the thought along XD.

Nintendo and Amazon.....I could see that too :l. I mean, they are the most 'console' like of the mobile gaming world as the Amazon TV launched as a set-top box (basically another console), so Nintendo working with them is logical, as it is the closet to what they are familiar with from Wii U/3DS development. And if the NX rumors are right, they need an OS that united multiple SKU's together, so Amazon is a strong partner in that regard.

These rumors are interesting, so I hope something cool comes out form them :).

What Iwata understanded at the end, is that for the company to survive anything that comes along, it has to be basically Disney.

As they dont have the whole power of coming from the 1930's as whole company trying to progress with every new medium Walt saw along, making a huge company through the years, they need to use others to make a similar move. Using Disney, Universal, Amazon... is the right thing to do.

Nintendo will not go third party but use this agreements to maintain their "original" medium afloat forever, that is, making games by their own means. Just as Disney uses other arms to maintain their original medium, that is making animated movies.

Um, Reggie literally announced that there would be Amiibo functionality with Skylanders and Disney Infinity when Amiibos were revealed

https://youtu.be/LaQ24OOENRI?t=61

It just took it a bit to actually show up

Been a while since I've seen the video, glad I'm not crazy.

Doesn't nintendo have a shareholder meeting sometime soon? Maybe we could get some details on this (if it's true).

26th, just a couple days IIRC

True, but I like the idea of a NX exclusive Mario world for KHIII though.
