If this rumor is true, then I don't know what's stupider on Square Enix's part. Releasing the same day on Xbox One as Fallout 4 or releasing on PS4 1 year later.

Why would Sony care about Tomb Raider being exclusive for a year when Sony has Uncharted?

From there speech with Final Fantasy 7 Remake about being a playstation franchise I'd assume they would want all of their franchises aka tomb raider.

Poor lara, doesn't matter how good you are. If you aren't Halo or COD, then you should run from 2015. Fallout 4 is going to bury you.

Square are going to be scrambling for a Q2 PC/PS4 release to shore up their numbers. Fallout is way bigger than anyone seems able to give it credit for.

Hmm. Since they don't seem to have any concrete evidence for this - I'm going to clump it into the "Silent Hills costing Microsoft BILLIONS" camp of skepticism.

That said, a Q4 2016 release sounds believable. But I imagine it'll be a GOTY package costing a full $60.

XOne version in the same day as Fallout 4 and now PS4 one year later? I thought the game could sell well but now I'm on the other side of the fence .

They seem to be hit or miss with their rumors. It was a laughable miss with the Silent Hills rumor but they were on point for the Dark Souls 3 rumor (though the latter they had actually images and such).

Personally find it plausible though a year does seem rather long. I have my money on it being a more of a Summer 2016 release.

The whole handling of this game has been a mess. No PS4 or PC version at launch. Cross generation game this far into the the gen. Releasing same day as Fallout 4.

I'm expecting SE to have another "dissapointing sales" scenario for TR

Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. Their way if reporting news seems to be throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

They also killed most of their credibility with that Silent Hills rumor.

then the following week immediately brought it back with Dark Souls 3

As far as consoles go FF7 (and games in the Compilation) have only ever appeared on Playstation consoles. So it only makes sense that they'd have that viewpoint. TR has been multiplatform for a longtime.

come on guys if it was a year long, MS would be saying launching first exclusively on xbox rather than stress on "HOLIDAY 2015" . i mean yea maybe pc is early 2016 and ps4 is year late but i doubt square would be that dumb. they both will most likely be early 2016 and april would be my guess.

They were on point with the Dark Souls III leak tho.

Well when someone hands you a boatload of screens and video then yeah...kind of hard to screw that up.

Funny thing is they kind of did though, making an obnoxiously long video that no one wanted to weed through with terrible lower thirds obscuring images and video.

I find this hard to believe, but with all the brew ha this timed exclusive has been getting it's certainly possible.

The funny thing is that SE went for this exclusivity deal with MS because they didn't want to compete directly with Uncharted during the holiday season. An exclusive deal with MS in Q4 2015 and a PC/PS4 sometime in 2016 would make that possible.

I bet the SE execs must have been livid when they heard that Uncharted 4 was delayed and realizing the deal with MS was unnecessary.

Even for the discounted price it's too long for me to wait, will get it when it's released on the Xbox One.

Honestly this would kinda piss me off if it's true, I really enjoyed the first and having to wait a whole extra year purely because of a business deal is bullshit.

The 'they did it to compete with Uncharted' statement is so stupid. Why would they limit themselves to one platform that isn't doing as well to compete with a game that's on a console that's selling well. It makes no sense.

Isn't the alternative that's been stated since reveal that...it wouldn't exist at all on PS4?

Edit: I guess you mean specifically the one year timeline, I gotcha.

I'd argue the contrary. Now they've got the Fall to themselves, without the distraction of Uncharted. Then when they do release on PS4, it'll be far removed.

Square-Enix logic makes no sense.

Either Squenix is run by monkeys or the MS paycheck makes more than up for it because otherwise it'd be damn stupid to dump the game during the busiest months of gaming - twice!

I can believe that the game is releasing in Q4 2016 but I don't believe that it will be sold at a discounted price.
I only hope that we get a Collector's Edition on PS4 too.

I don't believe it, the usual practice is one year later, you get so called GOTY editions with DLCs and such for full price. $40 seems too good to be true for a package like that :b maybe PS3 version is $40...

i still dont understand how anyone thinks its a good idea to release their game on the same day as Fallout 4.

A whole year? What? Not sure I can see that. I was thinking it'd be like Q1/2 2016. When does the PC version come out for Tomb Raider? Same time or is that unknown for now too?

Not really sure what platform I want TR on, but probably not X1, between PS4 and PC for me. If it has an online element to it, instantly PS4, if not, I'd prefer PC, not really sure which is better now though between a 780m and PS4, though it's batman which has shaken my confidence, so hopefully that'll be changed again when it's fixed.

A PS4/PC version in Q3/Q4 2016 will bomb. All the launch excitement will have evaporated. There will be so many heavy hitters launching at that time that a year old port of the Xbox One version will be old hat and sell like shit, even at $40. It's simply stupid to launch one of their studios biggest sellers as a year late budget title on the two platforms where TR sells best.
