Finally got caught up with the beastcast. Last episode was great. That phone line comment, goddamn.

I don't agree with Austin on the public funding of art. Art that people enjoy should be funded, art programs for the public, and specifically youth, should be funded, but funding niche art in hopes that a future creator will find inspiration from it? That's a bottom tier priority in my eyes.

I do agree that beastcast > bombcast at the moment. Dan and Drew are too quiet, most of the bombcast ends up being The Jeff and Brad Talky Show. A Brad/Jeff/Dan/Rorie bombcast with a rotating 5th chair of Drew/Jason would be best imo.

i think its pretty funny that the thread that has to have "dont be a dick" quoted in every first post because people couldnt handle themselves is looking down at a different crop of giant bomb fans for always being upset

I'm back from hell because that's what being unable to comment on some of the less enlightened post-E3 commentary is.

While I've not finished AK yet I would say that it's above Asylum and City in the story and writing Department, City was a complete mess and Asylum's story is really forgettable.

Asylum is still the best game in the series though, it's simple but it's pieces all fit really well together and that can't be said for the sequels.

Arkham Knight's story is a mediocre retread of existing Batman stories, complete with the exact same twists. Further, the one interesting part of the story (which is probably just a retelling of a comic I'm unfamiliar with) is awkwardly jammed into the narrative and quickly abandoned. Also, tanks.

And yes, Asylum is still the best.

Asylum barely has a story.
I swear some people think that game's untouchable, and it's really not. There is nothing more VIDEO GAMES levels of contrived than the final boss of that game.

Batman, destroy an entire army of unmanned drones with your bat-tank is pretty contrived, as is Riddler's gran prix of subterranean high-speed puzzle races.

Hey, I never said it was great, just better than the other Rocksteady Batman games.

Should I get Arkham Knight on the PS4?

The story stuff is really tempting me.

If you're only interested in it for the story then I'd say no. I'm really enjoying my time with it but the story isn't strong enough to support the game on it's own.

You know what was a great Arkham game with the best story of the series?

Origins.

Secret best of the bunch.

Also, I could really go for a Powerbombcast. It's been a slow/bad few months in WWE with a few exceptions, but I'm hoping the hiatus ends soon.

Well I'd probably enjoy the gameplay too. I'll get the game of the year edition when it comes out.

I just feel like we can have a Batman game without Riddler in it for once.

He's really not that necessary to the game. Like I know you want to tie collectibles to him, but maybe just don't have so many collectibles.

he should've strapped people to form a shell around the drones, that would've stopped him.

You're a better villain than the Arkham Knight. There's an image I can't find of this giant robot with kids strapped to it as armor, so pretend that's here.

When you can have one guy controlling multiple drones you can use the other guys to do other things. It would be a waste of resources to make those tanks manual. He puts guys in the APCs.

He could have randomly put a few guys in some of the drones to shake Batman's confidence in unleashing 10x missile strikes every minute or so.

I don't mind having a sequel to arkham asylum, but it feels like something they should have had several years later and done something inbetween

'yep, the joker i know. yepp, scarecrow from last time. uh uh poison ivy yup' they'll toss in one or two d list villains, but it doesn't help how same-y the games feel at times. same dark city in just a different part of it. lego batman 2 was way more awesome because they were like FUCK IT SUPERMAN VILLAINS AND FLASH VILLAINS AND SHIT

The story stuff is really tempting me.

I lost like four days straight to playing it, I don't think a game has grabbed me like that since I was in elementary school. It's my favorite game I've played this generation and the story is far and away the best of the series. Probably the best Batman thing in media that isn't comic books

I've always been into Batman stuff so that probably affects my opinion, but even if you aren't it does really cool and interesting stuff with player perspective.

edit: judging by others reactions I'm starting to feel this is another bioshock infinite situation

Alex talking about mosquitos biting him reminds me of how much I hate them. I went to Italy over the past week and the buggers have bitten me all over. I have no idea how continental Europeans in hotter countries are so used to all sorts of flying insects.

But then writers and fans alike might have to confront the fact that Batman's no kill rule is really dumb and impractical considering all the shit he does. Not to mention the fact that you play as a silver spoon billionaire spends his nights beating up criminals who grew up poor in a poor city and likely never had a chance in life except for crime as if he's so superior.

Don't mind me, that part of the Batman universe has just always irked me. He won't kill anyone, but he'll beat some broke criminal with no health insurance within an inch of his life and leave him with seven broken bones.

I liked the late 80's batman movies

you know, the one with jack nicholson and what not

And batmans american heritage at this point

I'll probably just wait for the GoTY edition though.

The narrative reason for that is that humans have fear/free will and drones don't.

I'm not saying that's a good reason, but it's how the game/world justifies it.

The Arkham Knight character is pretty poor but ultimately he isn't the game's focal point.

There are Batman stories about the feasibility of his no kill rule. Arkham Knight kind of touches on it, but not in an interesting way. Again, mediocre retread. Origins does a better job of that, if I'm remembering the story right, because it shows the ridiculous lengths Batman will go to to save any life, and it's part of the core conflict near the end of the game since the villain uses it against him.

Batman and Superman are old enough that they are ingrained into America at this point. Every American 'knows' about Superman, as well as Batman.

I don't understand how that connects to the rest of your post. It's a sentence fragment. Are you saying that that's something you like about Batman?

Y'know, we're able to dress up batman how we wanted, I would have really appreciated being able to do the same to everyone else. I think Scarecrow would be a much more convincing villain.

Early cast y'all :D

They had to put out some content this week.
/hides from all the rocks and books being thrown.

I really would like to play Arkham Knight, but WB doesn't want to release PC versions that work. I guess I have to wait until the Steam winter sale to get it for 25% off or something.
