I pledged for the $300 tier and it automatically put +$10 on to ship to Australia.
Kickstarter allows shipping in different regions to be automatically calculated. It didn't always have this feature and it meant huge losses for some projects due to logistics overhead.

Upped my pledge from 29 to 60 bucks for the physical PS4 version. This was a good decision on their part. I am hopeful that the physical PS4 tier will help this reach 10 million in two weeks.

Yeah, I remember I had to add shipping costs manually for previous KS games. Honestly, $10 to Australia seems pretty cheap for a big box edition. I guess it's just a generic "international shipping" fee -- hopefully they don't get burned too badly on that stuff.

Increased my initial pledge up to $60 for the physical release PS4 version. Glad to see it the physical version on there now.

I've been a backer since day one and as I said on my Twitter, I'd have backed Shenmue III even if it was only planned for release on the freakin' CD-i. That being said I'm glad they added the PS4 physical version as it's the version I'll play. Now I'll probably create a second account to also get the physical PC version.

They really need to have add-ons possible. Toe Jam and Earl did it and it would definitely increase the amount of money raised substantially.

I'm worried about getting the physical PS4 tier, since it's not calculating ship fee. Last thing I want to do is eat into the KS donations.

Avg pledge is now 85.3 dollars, last time I checked (a few weeks ago) avg was 78.5. New tier clearly doing their work.

You really have to hand it to Awesome Japan for their singular and valiant attempts to ruin the Shenmue III KS campaign. It's a good job the Shenmue fanbase is so loyal and willing to stump up the cash for III otherwise this Kickstarter would have died on its arse long ago. I just hope AJ aren't in charge of sorting out KS rewards to all who pledged.

Going up fast still. From $4,111,xxx to $4,139,xxx in just a few hours.

Was listening to the Giant Beastcast, might be best for Shenmue fans to not listen. Nothing bad but kind of repeating what was going around a few weeks ago elsewhere.

Was around $81 a few days ago.

I hoped the PS4 physical would be $70-80 or maybe Sony waiver the royalty fee.

EDIT: Wow gone up another 2k while typing

They really should have tiers including like 4 or 8 digital copies, or both PS4 and PC physical copies etc. The only way now to get both is to create two accounts.

Just let people upgrade, either now by adding the needed amount to their pledge, and allow people to upgrade later via PayPal.

Someone need to make a new thread communicating the new updates with images, videos, and the latest stretch goal status. This thread can die now as any newcomer would get lost and miss all the key info. This need to happen, subtitle it as tracking to become the highest gaming kickstarter of all time. I would do this myself but i am outside now and using mobile.

I was just thinking of this today. How exactly is it done with other games on KS?

You select your pledge level, and then depending on your shipping location, KS will tell you how much you need to add manually on top of that for shipping fees.

For example, say you select 500 USD, you need to adjust it to 510 USD to ship worldwide.

Would like to know as well!

Why doesn't it do that for the Physical PS4 tier?

Eagle eyed Shenmuedojo member noticed the $11 million "Magic Maze" stretch goal has been replaced with another "Kung Fu Mastery":

hrm. interesting.

by the way, will anybody be putting up a thread for the twitter Q&A? might be a good place to give a quick rundown of the new information too, for newcomers.

People sure like physical copies.

You can't have a super hardcore, super niche title selling to the super hardcore and not have a physical copy. I don't care myself but how many threads do we have with hardcore fans saying "no physical no buy" even if it spites themselves, like yakuza fans or anime girl face games and so on.

There's still a fun experience IMO in getting a game and having the game and collecting games so I understand the appeal.

Good work has been done and an apology has been issued. Time to let it go.

I've been busy today so I've just gotten the chance to check in. Man, the campaign had a great day. Crossing my fingers for it to cross $6m.

Just also a friendly reminder Seganerds is doing a interview with some of the original English VA of Shenmue 1.

Corey Marshall (Ryo Hazuki), Paul Lucas (Lan Di, Chai), Eric Kelso (Ren, Fuku-san, Guizhang) and Lisle Wilkerson (Xiuying, Joy, Yuan) about their time working on Shenmue 1 and 2. We also discuss the possibilities of them returning for Shenmue 3!

Wow, people are actually spending 100's of dollars, and now creating second accounts and spending more.

Kickstar really was the only way to make this game.

You can't say Shenmue fans aren't devoted...

Only 48,568 backers for over $4,000,000 in funding. Literally averaging about $85 per person... that has to be some kind of record.

It unfortunately shows that publishers were right in not giving the green light for this game. There isn't a market for it, just an insane fanbase willing to spend exorbitant amounts to play it. Glad this KS exists though.

I have heard nothing but praise for the game series (even though I have not had the privilege to try them out for myself). Yay for PC release!

Wait you think backers are much higher for other games or something?

Because they are not.

Man, the throw and counter moves were so cool in Shenmue. They were just really hard to use though, I haven't seen like 90% of these. It always felt cool to pull off a "Darkside Hazuki" though, especially on Fuku-san. "Ow! Don't use that move!"

See! This is why I kept saying to everyone DO NOT RUSH THROUGH YOUR PLAY OF SHENMUE I & II. If you rush through it just to complete the game then you'll miss so much cool shit! You need to train Ryo and scoop out the whole game to discover so much madness that will make you a beast of a fighter. If Shenmue III was on the Dreamcast then the training aspect would have been easier thanks to the Game-Data-Transfer from Shenmue I onwards. Hopefully, this will happen if the HD versions of Shenmue I and II comes out and if it does then we have tons of reasons to go back from the very beginning to start a-fresh. It would be absolutely marvelous, truly!

Here is part I and II of the moves compilation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC_GwPO1NEk, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5xleq2HgDY

It's the same average pledge as Bloodstained, though this is still in progress obviously.

Wah? My point was that the backer to average pledge ratio seemed out of whack.

$85 per person on average seems incredibly high. I mean more power to the Shenmue fans, but that's crazy to pay $85 for what is essentially a $30 downloadable title.

It's the same average pledge as Bloodstained, though this is still in progress obviously.

Was it? Hmm, I just don't seem to remember it being that high for other big Kickstarters like Mighty No 9., Double Fine Adventure, Yooka Laylee. I'll look it up.

With a little outside the box thinking it might have worked. For example only sell it as a $40 download and a $100+ high end collectors edition. A cheapo edition for anyone who is curious and a premium set for the big spenders.

We've been over this in the thread before. KS backers don't translate directly to sales. You can look up KS to sales comparisons for Steam games thanks to SteamSpy. For example Pillars of Eternity had over 70k backers, the game sold over 400k since release. A lot of people simply don't want to give money to a project this far out. Most are far more comfortable buying a finished product.
