Do you expect more handheld Smash after Smash 3DS sold over 6.75M copies?

With how well Smash on 3DS sold it would seem like a sure thing, especially if the NX turns out to be some sort of console/handheld hybrid, or Nintendo launches a handheld near or alongside the NX that shares similarities in the OS.

Alternatively, if Nintendo hasn't released a new handheld when the NX / Smash 5 launches, would you expect to see Smash 5 on 3DS?

The next generation of Nintendo game systems will probably share their libraries, so yeah, Smash Bros will be on both handheld and console again.

Depend on whatever they are going to do it with next generation. If they have separate console and handheld console then I'm pretty sure that they are going to do it again.

I welcome anything despite with the fact that Smash 3DS suffered with technical issues.

Yes. Almost 7Mil sales on 3DS not even a year after release will literally 100% guarantee it. 3DS version is the reason SSB4 will again manage to outsell its predecessor.

God I hope so. Don't get me wrong, I love the Wii U version, but I definitely play the 3DS version a lot more.

Would be on Wii U more if it had tourneys and Smash Run...

Smash bros 3DS will probably end up being the best selling entry in the franchise and nintendo still get to sell millions of copies on their home console. If the next nintendo console isn't a hybrid of sorts i see no situation where this doesn't happen. Either way it will be on their next handheld.

This.

While the console & handheld will remain separate, they'll most likely share an architecture & most of their games. So yeah, I fully expect Smash 5 to be on both the console & handheld versions of the NX. Hopefully the handheld version doesn't compromise the console version like what happened with Smash 4, more so since they don't have to make 2 separate games next time.

Tourney Mode is coming this August.

I sure hope so!

Smash Bros anytime I feel like as easily as waking my 3DS from sleep is literally, no exaggeration, one of the greatest things that's ever happened to me, gaming-wise, and I started on the NES.

I would hope so, assuming NX actually doubles as a handheld like we seem to think. Either way, as long as the next generation handheld has the control capabilities to suit it (some kind of analog stick, shoulder buttons, face buttons) then yeah, all for it.

I loved the 3DS version of Smash and thought it was a great idea. Most people were against the parity between characters of the two versions, but I honestly think that's a good idea as it gives you a way to play the same game on the go. Yeah, seeing Ice Climbers have to go was sad, but everything else that came along with having the 3DS version made it well worth it. Controlled really well too, especially if you prefer C-sticking and are playing on the n3DS.

Smash 5 will release in the NX ecosystem, so yes. Playing the exact same Smash game on both a portable and home console is going to be sweet.

I assume Smash U is just going to get ported to NX and it'll work anywhere except for things here and there (Like 8-player Smash. Good lucking doing that on a Portable on Palutena's Temple). But at least you'll only have to buy it once.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
that thread title update heh.

And yeah don't every big game will be on portable in the future of its possible.

Smash 4 is basically a preview of the NX. There will be a handheld NX hardware and a home console NX hardware. Each version of NX will have separate versions of games like how there were separate versions of Smash 4 for 3DS and Wii U with the console version having better assets and possibly different stages and trophies between the versions. Since Nintendo is a stingy company, there will be no crossbuy, but they may offer special deals if you buy both versions.

This is possible, but I think it would be a really, really bad idea.

I think most games, if not all, will be the same across all NX platforms. If they're not, Nintendo's wasting their time, in my opinion.

It won't. While they'll have the same architecture & OS, they won't be the same system. And most of us don't think that because we know that it has been ruled out, only a minority believe this on GAF.

yeah, i'm thinking the NX will be a simple, maybe cellphone like system, that will run the Nintendo cell phone games. Then Nintendo will port it's OS to the WiiU and 3DS and both will run NX games.

Of course it will, hell, they are going to again the whole handheld first console second thing to sell even more copies.

Ok. I'm not following all the PR because I don't expect anything concrete out of it. Saying it's a dedicated core gaming platform doesn't go against my theory anyway.

Your theory is that it's an OS on a cell phone-like device used to play Nintendo's F2P mobile games. Those aren't core, premium titles. Iwata himself distinguishes their mobile games from their premium, console experiences. When the DeNA partnership was unveiled, NX was announced as a dedicated platform with a renewed passion by Nintendo to continue creating traditional video games.

I think Smash 4 is probably the model for Nintendos franchises on the NX.

Home console version gets better graphics and more content, and portable version gets exclusive modes tailored for play on the go.

Ok. I'd think Nintendo can create core games on cellphones, but if you say they make the distinction, I guess they do. I'm just putting my NX expectations as low as I can.

I expect it but I don't want it considering the handheld version held the console version back in technical capabilities.

I can't understand why this is even a question. I'd be downright shocked if it didn't happen.

Hell, I'd go as far as to say a more reasonable question to ask is whether or not we can still expect a home console Smash. Not that that's a very reasonable question either, but relatively speaking, it's more reasonable. Handheld Smash is 100%, compared to console Smash at 99% point something.

They're not going to turn away from that. How many console exclusive Nintendo titles are left these days? Pikmin? Starfox? And Nintendo would port those if they thought they'd sell 7M+

Also, shouldn't be a power sink that excludes Ice Climbers and other complex concept characters next time either, so all good.

I sure hope not. Both the 3DS and Wii U games suffered because of this.

Came to post that. I believe this so much that if it's not actually the case it will be my biggest gaming disappointment in my life since Rare takeover.
