Uhhhh Mk2 literally adds chapters of content for true end too though. Only the normal ending extensions were weird fluff, normal and conquest were pretty significant.

Does it? I can't remember, just that I wasn't up to going through with the true ending for it.

Re;Birth 3 axes scouts entirely, and the method to get the True ending is adding dungeons with Plans. You still get the Good ending by watching a couple events in Planeptune so just never skip events ever.

Like, VII has a bad ending that cuts the game early and you only get that by ignoring a bunch of very obviously placed cutscene markers that the characters themselves point out and say "Hey we should probably go to these areas and watch the cutscenes". Otherwise the other 2 endings don't add much, they change more thematically than adding an entire chapter or anything like that.

Here's my "import guide" for Victory 2 if anyone's interested or has anything to add. I don't have any more info on the true ending than is in this thread, sorry. It's not a 100% guide but should help you figure out what you're doing at least. Probably some important bits I forgot, still new to doing guides.

I also made a guide to Neptunia guides! Since goddamn GameFAQs hates making guides for this series and everything is crammed in random Google Docs spreadsheets. Hopefully this helps people find info. Again, let me know if you have anything to add.

Does it? I can't remember, just that I wasn't up to going through with the true ending for it.

Mk2 has one of the easiest true ending conditions in the series...I guess recruiting the CPUs is a minor bother but pretty quick via the colosseum and I did it anyway just to get the characters. Payoff is very worth it too IMO, 2 extra chapters, closure, unlocks areas required to get a lot of the swimsuits/other costumes (at least in rebirth, don't think it was that important in mk2 since that was mostly DLC)

Re;Birth 3 axes scouts entirely, and the method to get the True ending is adding dungeons with Plans. You still get the Good ending by watching a couple events in Planeptune so just never skip events ever.

Huh, interesting. Can't be as bad as unlocking optional dungeons in Rebirth 2 since they're required for the true ending, so that's great. Reb 2's optional dungeons are a complete mess if you end the game too early).

Compile Heart’s Shingo Onodera and Sega’s Masahiro Nakayama have recently sat down with Dengeki PlayStation Magazine to talk about their Hyperdimension War Neptunia VS Sega Hard Girls crossover game as well as the upcoming Extreme Dimension Tag Blanc + Neptune VS Zombie Army game. In that interview, they revealed a few details about the games

For Hyperdimension War Neptunia VS Sega Hard Girls, it was revealed that the game will not have good’ol Nep-Nep (Neptune) or the Sega Hard Girls as the main characters, but will instead focus on an original protagonist named Hatsumi Sega. She will be designed by renowned illustrator, Tsunako, and will be a short girl with an s-shaped ponytail (Because it’s Sega). Development for the game has already started last fall and is handled by Felistella.

Many fans have believed that the game will be a crossover fighting game, however, the interview revealed that the game will in-fact be an RPG, just like the Hyperdimension Neptunia games, however, the gameplay will be quite different. It will focus on Hatsumi Sega and Hyperdimension Neptunia’s IF, who is based on Idea Factory.

So the new Dengeki came out with some pictures of God-Eater. Gematsu reported on it and... yep she looks exactly like you'd expect, with that fanservicey outfit pretty much 1:1. No hat though.
Better news though is that Uzume gets to be playable again in Blanc's game!
Well, uh, at least she looks better than Tekken. Judgment reserved on playable Uzume until I see what she's like in VII, which'll be in 2020 at the rate I'm going.

Rebirth 3 prevents you from peeking as far up when swiping up on the touch screen in the equipment screen...that seems pretty pointless (it deliberately prevents upskirts).

I notice the Challenge is still called "I Love Gravity" too, didn't that have a lewder name in Japanese along with Uni's "charlie horse" skill (which is something like "where are you looking?!" if I recall correctly). I don't have a JP version to compare, but if it's a localization thing that's the sort of thing I thought we'd be done with without NISA. Seems like a pointless change considering all the other stuff in the games.

you have to unlock the ability to do that with a plan for whatever reason

Does rebirth 3 still have that thing Victory did where you have to jump like 50 times as each character to unlock a voice clip?

nevermind I have no idea what just happened. Is there a guide to the differences between good/bad ending in Victory II?

This is what Victory 2 lets you carry over in NG+, all are optional, no "grade" unlocking, these are free:

It also remembers your combo skills (at least if you keep characters/level?). Fucking finally. NG+ was god awful until now. I ca'nt speak for the writing, but otherwise this was easily the best game in the series.

challenges are still there but they don't unlock voice clips anymore, now it's plans

And stat buffs

Challenges are also for the EXE drive. Remember to use 100 skills! For each character!

As for your post: yeah, Scouts improve in certain areas as you use them, so that's what their level is about (it's S/A/B/C/D /E ranks).
Differences between VII Good and True ending:
after you beat the regular final boss, everyone leaves the party except for Uzume. You have to go through one last dungeon and boss fight. You can then play through post-game without going straight to NG+, and you'll unlock the dungeons from whichever path you didn't pick (back at the path split). That's the only way to get all dungeons available at the same time (necessary for a trophy). Also, the NG+ carryover list expands to add the faster movement speed/super jump, and I think having all dungeons available all the time?

Thanks for the information in this thread everyone!

I finished almost all of Victory a few months ago, and I'm thinking about getting at least one more game in the series (that isn't a spinoff) since I seem to really enjoy the characters and writing and I'm still just begun my visual novel (or VN-ish) career.

So if I may ask, is Rebirth 1, 2, or Victory 2 any more difficult than the others (or more difficult than the original Victory for that matter)? I'm just curious on this.

I'm under the impression that Victory 2's gameplay is at least an improvement from Victory in almost all departments. I could certainly do with less of a focus on Victory's scouting system, making share increases a bit easier, or quests being a bit less important.

Oh hey SirTapTap, turns out some items that change the game are just added to your inventory in NG+ in Nep VII. Nothing really spoilerish. Quoting someone else's translation:
Because someone asked for it, the flag items list that you get on newgame+:
Jumping star - Jump higher
Rocket Jump - Jump even higher
Strong Heart - If you lose in Neplunker, you won't get a gameover
Dashneaker - Move faster in dungeons
Help Button - Turns on "Teach me Histy"
Dark Orb - No more random battles on the world map
Please gaze - Don't really get this, but says something about the character looking at you while in the equipment menu. I mean, I can read what it says, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, and doesn't really seem to do anything. I blame Tsunako.

Also, here's another guide to throw onto the list for the specific behind getting endings in RB3.

I really hope people don't consider Nep U the best spin-off purely on the costume breaking mechanics. I love Senran Kagura and was super excited for U but it's been a very repetitive arena fighter with pretty much no story.

There are people that told me PP was better than Noire's game and I am absolutely gobsmacked because I am having a ridiculous amount of fun in Noire's game compared to both other spin offs.

Granted I haven't finished either U or Noire yet.
I can't see U changing since I have one mission left.

And when do people think IFI will announce and localize Victory II? I looked on the Japanese PSN store before and all the DLC weapons look great.
I am so hype for V-2. Hopefully straight after Re;birth 3.

i mean, Nep U is the best spinoff by a wide margin, not because of the clothing damage, but simply because it's the most fun

God Eater is cute, but I wish she had a more defiant/bold expression. That's one of the reasons I got the God Eater Nendoroids despite not playing the series. Cute, but dangerous.

Oh wow, that's AWESOME. Random encounters are the one thing I really hated, other complaint was the game's a bit easy. In general those little UX changes are exactly the sort of stuff I want JRPGs to take into account! I can't wait for western reviewers to completely fail to notice them!

I wonder if "please gaze" is ability to upskirt? I think this was missing in the model viewer. I'll screw around with it later and see if I can get a nice image guide to the UI elements together. I don't think it's them looking at you in the equipment menu since you need to be able to rotate the model to check out certain items (Vert's hair accessories), them always looking forward would be annoying

i mean, Nep U is the best spinoff by a wide margin, not because of the clothing damage, but simply because it's the most fun

Best spinoff depends on what you're looking for in the game...but in general and gameplay-wise, Nep U is clearly the winner, and would be with unbreakable clothing. It's not perfect (could really use difficulty settings and proper boss fights), but the only redeeming feature of PP is the VN sections (which are great and funny). Noire seems very average and I still haven't played more than an hour or so myself, but consensus seems to be on Nep U.

Challenges are also for the EXE drive. Remember to use 100 skills! For each character!

Oh, that's annoying, but spamming skills isn't too bad I guess. Wait, is there even an EXE drive or is it just a really expensive SP skill like in Mk2? I haven't unlocked it.

Thanks for the information in this thread everyone!

Hmmm...hard to say. Rebirth 1 is hard for the wrong reasons (annoying difficulty spikes), most of the other games aren't really very hard outside of a boss here or there or postgame/high level DLC coliseum fights. You're unlikely to get many game overs if you play at least somewhat competently, don't underlevel, stuff like that. I got some game overs in Victory 2, but on the other hand Im' basically not even using Disks because translating them was a pain in the butt and I'm not being super optimal with my equips/combos.

The harder colosseum matches in Victory 2 are pretty fun though when you're not overleveled (I'm level 50-60 taking on level 70 challenges and they're quite hard) and there's no more Win Button in Victory 2 (exe was majorly overpowered before Victory 2).

And yes, Victory 2 is an improvement in basically every way. Basically everything that's been bugging me through the series was fixed in it, and many of my complaints mid-game are fixed by NG+ items. But IMO the Rebirths are still worth a play especially due to the story/writing/humor. Only the PS3 games feel a bit unnecessary now.

Thank you very much!

That's good enough for me as far as Victory 2 is concerned. I had a really good time with Victory 1 game early on (especially the story, writing, and humor), but the EXE drives were stupidly powerful and the game dragged on a bit in the middle. I can't find a change from it to Victory 2 that I dislike at the moment (story or writing notwithstanding). As long as the game isn't a breeze then it's going to be just fine, but then again I enjoyed the early boss fights in Victory 1.

Since the Vita/Steam sale on the Rebirths are gone, there will be plenty of time to think on them at the least. :D

Speaking of all the improvements in VII, I've gotta wonder about one weird step backwards: no more shared/universal EXP unless your name is Uzume/S-sha. What's up with that?

I'm still updating my Victory 2 guide, just added the New Game + info and all the Quiz answers, I need to add more info about the scouts soon.

Going to do a big import review of Victory 2 soon as well.

Also, in case anyone can help/already has a translation, I still need to translate the following things:

Coupling passive boosts
Challenges
Disks
Hidden treasures (this is going to be a pain but I've got a bunch of screenshots of requirements)

Also, if there was a tutorial on what the difference between "offense" and "defense" coupling does I didn't bother translating it, anyone know? Just a stat buff now?

Speaking of all the improvements in VII, I've gotta wonder about one weird step backwards: no more shared/universal EXP unless your name is Uzume/S-sha. What's up with that?

Some minor changes seem to have been made to try and make it a bit harder (it's still quite easy)--no healing on levels (I'm fine with this and it's really not a problem) and no XP for out of party characters. I'm not as big a fan of the latter but it hasn't been a huge problem, though my levels are getting uneven.

...are Uzume and S Sha exceptions? I've noticed S Sha levels up for no reason sometimes...

One more thing, for better or worse your first playthrough won't get you all skills. I ended around level 50 for everyone and there's still at least one skill to learn level for many, and I still don't have Kinestra Slash for Vert who's one of my mains.

Also, the random battles and map travel feel unnecessary. Something I actually liked about the menu based towns was the quick in and out. Luckily you can disable random encounters after NG+. They're never really that hard or super frequent, they just feel unnecessary.

A Hard Mode would be welcome especially for NG+, but the high level colosseum stuff seems solid so far, whereas in Rebirth the colosseum is just "build EXE, use EXE, win or die in one hit". Also one thing Victory 2 made quite apparent is you need to fight multiple bosses right around your power level because the
dark CPU fight
is friggin' awesome. But even if it's a bit easy, the better enemy AI means you're moving around more and trying to plan stuff which is most welcome.

Anyone know where the crap the S Rank promotion quest boss is? I've searched and unlocked all maps best I can tell and I'm at the end of the game, still nothing. In NG+ even.

Pretty sure I failed to get the True Ending again...oh crap I didn't take the stupid 10 dogoos quest as Neptune in G dimension.

Edit: Yep, got normal end again. On the plus side when skipping everything+overleveled the game is very short. Pretty sure it's well under 10 hours, most of my time was spent doing optional crap so I didn't get a good measure of how much time is spent actually advancing story.

Protip: Don't leave the Rebirth games running for 12 hours without restarting, sleep mode doesn't count.

Battles will eventually fail to load lol

Weird, never had that happen in reb 1 or 2 and I rarely close the game...might not have been quite over 12 hours though.

Haven't played Victory-2 yet. How is the story compare to the previous games? How long is it?

No fucking idea, but the game is basically 3 games in one, I was around 60 hours when I beat it (moderate amount of side activity, LOTS left to do for NG+, not true ending). There are some obvious very sad moments and some good dramatic/comedic stuff but I can't comment on the exact quality of writing of course. Considering every other aspect of the game is majorly improved I can only assume the writing as at worst as good as the other games.

edit:
I think the Spelunker's ultimate reward is the power bracelet, which lets you destroy more things/stronger boxes on the field.
Also yeah this is an official crossover, not the usual parody knockoff sorta thing.
As long as you don't finish the game, I don't think there's anything that's ever locked or missable between "chapters".

Wait how do you beat the second Neplunker stage?? I need break level2 to get past some stuff and I thought that's what this was for? If not, where the heck is break level 2?

I found a huge guide for Victory 2 (japanese), use Google Translate and it's 95% intelligable, has almost everything, enemy drops, development unlocks, quest targets, where to craft things, hidden treasure requirements.

Apparently Victory 2 does the same thing every Neptunia game does and has That One Trophy, apparently getting the 4 superrare trading cards (random items from rare packs of cards) is a huge pain in the ass. Basically just wait until you have a full set of 30 packs, savescum until you get one of the superrares, repeat. Why do they always do something stupid to make the platinum annoying.

Also, seems like they deliberately broke the late/postgame if you know what you're doing, a certain enemy in an endgame optional dungeon has insane XP drops (and is a pain to find the first time but easy to kill), and the development rewards in one of the towns can be resold for more money than you could possibly need.

Also, I found the candidates swimsuits...but no one else's. Why is it always ONLY the candidates swimsuits especially when the CPUs have like 2 sets of them now. Unless I just haven't found them yet, I'm not exactly 100% complete yet. Missing the S Rank quest upgrade, haven't beaten all of the colosseum, found all the hidden treasure or gotten true ending.

Sorry, I could have sworn we found it there.

Nevermind! It's just in the Planeptune crafting section at level 4...I cannot BELIEVE I missed it.

Also this is ages too late but:

Beautiful.

■ Story

A grand library that governs all of this world’s history.

If the history books stored there are tampered with, it is said that it is possible to rewrite actual history.

IF, with a certain goal in mind and after a long journey, finally sets foot within the grand library.

However, within that library, an incident occurs and the history books begin to disappear one after the other.

The disappearance of the history books means a loss of real history.

Before her very eyes, history is being lost, and then, the world.

To resolve this incident, IF must journey across space and time on a new adventure.

this game looks and sounds great, just need a gameplay trailer now

Saw some magazine pictures, sadly no gameplay yet. Just some environmental stuff and a library dungeon, you can see IF swinging around ropes and climbing ladders, as well as the whole crawling thing. IF's also wearing her old clothes in one shot and her new ones in another. Also the small Histoire from V is in a screenshot.
Still, I wonder what the new gameplay is supposed to be, considering they said they wanted to implement console limitations/specs into character abilities and such.

Oh hey, they brought IF's motorcycle back(for a single line in a character description). I wonder if that'll be included. Maybe her guns too?

So having beat Hyperdimension Neptunia Rebirth;1 (only trophies left are 100 million credits, leveling the sisters to 99 and crafting 100 items + true ending....kind of not feeling the desire to plat this) and enjoying it, what would be the next logical game to tackle?

Rebirth 2? Hyperdevotion Noire? Action Unleashed?

I've recently heard that VII will be delayed to mid 2016 because IFI want to wait till all its DLC is done being made before beginning localization. This is just a rumor but that sounds like a horrifically stupid thing to do, by then every single other PS4 RPG will be out in the West.

Sega looks cute, glad she's not a Miku clone. I mean the outfit is a tiny bit, but the general Sega/Sonic references are nice.

True ending is incredibly easy (20% min shares for all nations, 0% forarfoire, beat the final boss again), and if you got the sisters, leveling them to 99 should be easy as long as you have other level 99 people, especially with the level-cap break DLC. 100 million is a pain though, I think there's a coliseum fight that makes it easier but I'm not sure how much. It was at least a couple hours of sheer grind with the method I had, the others should take...minutes I think, not counting story cutscenes for the true ending.

I would say Rebirth 2 if you want more RPG/aren't afraid of burn out, Action Unleashed if you want a mix up.

What PS4 JRPGs will be out in the west? Disgaea 5, Persona 5, all I can think of. KH3, FF15 will certainly not be, I Think Nier 2, Star Ocean are still too far off. I do think they should try and hit late this year/early next year if they can though.

That's...really weird since they're doing a collab with Sega officially now. This is probably a huge pain in the ass license/copyright wise, but it's parody so, at least in the US, it should be pretty well protected, dunno about Japan.

And did we not get kid compa or something?? I still haven't played enough reb 3 to unlock them
dat ket art

I'm kind of disappointed since I assume them showing it this early means it's not the box art.

And while IF looks great, really hope we can play as multiple characters including at least Sega + all CPUs. A single character neptunia game would be just wrong (and I'm glad VII more significantly moves away from the "neptune/gear is the only person in the world" thing).

Sega being whiny about that would be a damn shame. Way to honor the people who brought the franchise into existence.
