These kinds of sales are a great place to pick up Blu-Rays of big name movies for $5-$9.
Are they going to tease any of the sales? Or is it a complete free for all?
I've just talked with Amazon (Canada). Deals won't work for trial accounts.
And by the way, Amazon Customer service is the GOAT. I'm even thinking about making a thread about it. Just got a refund of my prime membership after using it for a year lmao. Wtf amazon. I wasn't expecting a refund, I didn't even ask for it. I told the dude I didn't feel like I had used Prime enough times to justify what I paid for it and asked him if I could get another month of free trial or something now that my membership is over so that I can get access to the deals on the 15th. And the dude is like " OK I see you're not satistfied with the service so I've just refund you the 90$ (79$+tx) ". Wait what ??? Okay ... Hmmm really ? " Yes. ". Okay ... Have a good day then.
Wtf Amazon ? Don't you want to make money ?
Stories like yours are part of how they pull in new customers.

What do you mean ? I'm an old customer. So that's probably why I got the refund. ? Maybe. I don't know.
It wasn't a first though. I have been shopping at amazon for 10 years and in different locations (France,US,Canada etc...) and I have 0 complaint. It's the best customer service experience I've had.
Out of curiosity, is there any history of graphics cards appearing in Amazon's flash sales? Too niche, I imagine.
It's probably dumb of me to be considering getting Prime just so I can look out for deals on a TV, when the money I'd be saving would probably be around the same amount as getting Prime, right?
Someone please talk me out of this.
Please.
What? We had great TV deals here in Europe on the first prime countdown day. Most of the TVs went down 50% or more, you could get huge Samsung TVs for 500 bucks or less. The money you saved would have lasted you a few years of Prime Membership. I just bought a coffee machine with grinder and foam function, off by over 200 bucks........
I've been thinking about picking up a FireTV, so it'd be nice if I can get below its asking price.
Yup 50% jewelryI want to be excited, but I can't help but feel these deals are going to be shitty as fuck.

I have a FireTV - I think it's great and I never have issues, but I think looking back I should have purchased the Roku 3 instead. FireTV does not have Vudu, where as the Roku 3 has everything including Amazon Instant Video. Luckily I have a chromecast so I can watch Vudu on my main tv.

Chromecast, AppleTV, Roku3 or FireTV, which would you take?

FWIW, I own a Roku, AppleTV, Chromecast and a FireTV and the FireTV is the only one that sits unused. I don't like the interface or how Amazon centric it is. I've also hacked it to use Plex, but it didn't run great. Just my opinion.
AppleTV has the slickest interface and itunes. Also Airplay works good with iphones/ipad. Roku is probably the best direct streaming device with the most channel options.

Amazon worker here. I work 4 10 hour shifts, but with this going on it's going to 5 days and 53 hours. Pay will be nice, maybe the deals will be too. I'm looking to get an Xbone or Vita. Here's hoping!
The main reason I want a FireTV is to run Kodi and watch the movies that are on my external hard drive. I like the Kodi interface and experience, and as far as I know, the other streaming devices aren't compatible with it.
Have you considered getting a Raspberry Pi kit for that?
I'm keeping my eye on this one to drop in price a bit.
You could probably get Kodi going on a Nexus Player, but FireTV seems like a better bet than that at this point.
I would take the Roku 3, it plays the most formats and ultimately that's what matters. FireTV has been great, but I'm starting to build my video collection using Vudu instead of Amazon Instant Video. There's no Vudu app on the FireTV so I have to use my chromecast for Vudu movies. If Amazon Instant Videos joined up with Ultraviolet for their movie locker then I wouldn't care for Vudu any more. (I've been buying Ultraviolet codes online for much cheaper than retail cost).
AppleTV is great if you're in Apple's eco system, but I'd rather be platform agnostic so I can switch freely between iPhone and Android.
I actually have that kit! I use it for something else, but it works quite well. I thought about buying another one for Kodi, but if in addition to Kodi, I use Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Video (for my 90s Nickelodeon shows!) and there aren't any applications for those service on the Raspberry Pi.

Regarding the Kindle. It is one of my favorite devices I've ever owned (I'm a huge reader). We already have 3 in our house. I'll probably pick up the new model if the discount is decent.
Just sign up and then turn off auto-renewal; you don't get charged until your first (free) month ends.
Considering that the discounts will probably work like Lightning Deals, this won't work.
Fire TV by comparison is amazing. Only problem for me is that it lacks HBO Now and I wish the remote had a headset jack on it.
I've been getting HBO through SlingTV, but now that Game of Thrones and the NBA playoffs has ended I'm going to let my Sling subscription lapse. I'll start it back up when Monday Night Football is back, and I'd rather have HBO Go/Now separate from Sling. HBO's exclusive deal with Apple TV should be expiring this month so hopefully it'll be available for FireTV and Roku soon.
Yeah, that's my hesitation as well.
I need good, reliable apps for SlingTV, Netflix and HBOGo, else I have an unhappy wife. FireTV is probably my best bet in that case.
I currently have a Roku 3, but Plex has been giving me issues for local streaming lately. Plus I hate having to have a server running for Plex to transcode everything.
SlingTV is something I've been interested in, how do you guys like it? The SlingTV website had a special deal on the FireTV for $50, but I hesitated and it's gone now.
