Chrome does have an insane memory leak problem I guess, but I don't see why that would start being a problem just randomly today

It's just some general advice, trying to be of help =).

yeah, the crunchyroll player is shite IMHO. whether using the PS4 app or on my PC, I always have some sort of problem with it...

Lol forcing hardware acceleration gets me about three minutes before the steam starts stuttering like mad

I don't understand why the video player doesn't just let you buffer normally like YouTube or, well, pretty much any other streaming video player ever. It just starts stuttering like mad instead. Necessary result of implementation or devious ploy to drive you mad?

Sigh. My last chance to really watch anything for a few days, kind of puts a sour note on the whole deal

What is up with Japanese fixation on the C,B,A,S ranks to measure the power combat levels ?

I liked the new addition to the cast but other than that it was again pretty meh. Gonna drop this and maybe pick it up again, if it starts getting good reviews here. Don't really have the patience for mediocre shows anymore.

Cancel all other anime, for they are pointless in the face of Umaru. All shall bow down to the greatness of Umaru. Or at least her brother. He's cool. Umaru is a brat and would be difficult to tolerate on her own. Looks like this will be well-adapted.

Laggy crunchyroll is torture. I don't want to hear any of this calm down shit. If it takes you an hour to watch a twenty two minute video and you can't even just sit there and let it buffer there something fucking wrong. When your performance is worse than if I just went to some random streaming site I begin to question why I sub at all.

Before you ask my hardware and my internet are monsters and it was working perfectly fine until what I'm guessing is an American onpeak traffic hour or something like that.

Glad I'm not the only one who's been having problems with Crunchyroll lately. It works fine when I'm using the PS3 app but when I try watching on my PC I just get a blank screen.

Which means you have to go watch Clannad & Clannad After Story right away to fit in properly if you haven't already, feel the pain, love and pure emotion and share with us all.

you know.... after lurking in another random anime thread and falling victim to somebody recommending school days to someone....

Oh, then you have to $hit on SAO and Kirito like he killed your family...Once you have done that, you have been properly initiated with those blood sweat and tears and anime..

um... I like SAO.....

mine doesnt stutter, it just stops... then starts again. after that it seems ok. or it takes awhile to start playing. when i was watching on the PS4 app, the damn app would crash every few videos! granted i heard that the app was a crappy version of the PS3 app which ppl say wasnt that great to begin with...

Don't worry, the Clannad series is no School Days. The recommendation is genuine (even though I've never seen After Story.)

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions S2 ep. 7-END:

OK, I'll agree with everyone here; this was a big step down from Season 1. It was entertaining in a SoL kinda way, but even in the end, there was only a small step forward in character developement and story. I guess that was the creative story they were going for, or they were trying to keep the idea open for a third season. In the end, there was a very cute moment, but just felt meh in the grand scheme of things.... It's a shame because I enjoyed the first season with it's mix of feel good moments and comedy. Both where limited in the 2nd season. Overall, it's an enjoyable ride, but still a letdown from the Season 1 closing as I thought they were going to go deeper into watching Rikka outgrow and overcome her Chunibyo and deepen her relationship with her man. Instead, we got a demi- love triangle, teanage angst and some SoL fun.

Director Ishihara and Series Composer Hanada had no idea what to do for a sequel, so they listened to feedback from the fans and chose to make a season based on comedy as that was the more popular part of S1. Unfortunately, Ishihara also doesn't want to have a conclusion to a romance as he feels "the chase" is more entertaining than what happens later, so everything culminated to no progression.

Additionally, due to their decision to introduce two original characters in season 1, the new character from the novel is essentially pointless. With the novel occurring a month following the events of the first novel, her addition to the story helped solidify the relationship between Rikka and Yuuta. The anime story itself moved forward to the next school year, which exemplifies how weak of a relationship it is at this point. The logic fails and the emphasis on resetting everything to the start of episode 1 means there's no reason to watch it.

As someone highly invested in the first season and the novels, to say I was disappointed was putting it lightly. This was the first production from KyoAni where I stopped watching and still haven't finished over a year later. While novel Shichimiya was my favorite character, her position in the anime made me want her never to have appeared in the first place. A failure all around.

But Ibuki, most of everyone on the cast looks like a child.

Anyway epic Ibuki time, favorite protagonist this season.
though so much sadness, I didnt think Kai would be offd this fast. Ibuki has no more best friends

And no, Clannad is legit one of the best Anime series ever. But, that is under the condition you like Slice of Life, school time, drama, romance and comedy. It's not for everyone obviously, but it is abosolutely amazing once you get to the After Story, Just passing along my favorite ever to a newbie; my olive branch, lol.

So, if you haven't watched it yet, your homework for the next week is to watch Clannad, then Clannad After Story and experience greatness, lol.

Well.... I'm gentle and even huggable too, I'll be nice!

On another note: Anton, do list some anime you like or genres you like so we can get you started on some great stuff. Also, watch Clannad and ~After Story~ if you're looking to get into an emotional story about friendship, love and family (especially family), Cornbread just likes to have everyone watch Clannad right away =).

Damn, so my impressions are pretty on point with what happened in production then. Is that the way the LN ended as well? Such an odd "non-ending ending" way to leave things, even for a novel... It's my own fault for expecting more moments like :
tumblr_nqhtvbKiUh1sqwgulo1_500.jpg

but not getting it. Rikka and Yuuta were too cute a couple to get treated like that. I actually really liked Yuuta's approach of being a solid MC and not waivering in resolve the entire season..

you guys are killing my hype on S2 of Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. I liked S1 and didnt know there was a S2 till the other day so I just started it....

Yeah, sorry dude. It's definately "cute" and has some fun moments, but it plays out like an endless SoL series instead of moving forward. Now it does show a little progression for Rikka, but not what you would think or expect in this case; it is rather unfortunate...

Aahaha, thanks a ton for that gif, I can most definitely be like that, aha, especially in my cute reviews. =)

Have him watch the best if he wants it though! I'd love it if he would watch Clannad and ~After Story~....heck then he can follow up with Kanon. And then he can see our opinions about it tooo! I still love the way I did my Clannad review, with the Dangos on the top and bottom of the review. =) Fantastic stuff.

Main character is pretty Lelouch. But, I'm not really feeling it so far, but hopefully it'll pick up some once we get past introducing the characters and setting and such.
Monster Musume 1
I like it. The constant cockblocking is going to get really old really fast though.

I've had some pretty bad experience with the Crunchytoll player in the past using Firefox, so I don't think it's a chrome problem. However, Crunchyroll has been doing a lot better for me recently.

Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto (Someday's Dreamers)

I'm really really sorry, I'm positive someone in this thread did a write up of this and to whomever you are, it caught my eye and because of it, I decided to watch this. (Should start writing down names of people that inspire me to watch something).

Someday's Dreamers is.... well it's an odd slice of life anime. Imagine a world where magic was possible, but in this world, the mages are working for the government and a lot of what you can and can't do is regulated and constantly being watched; sounds scary right?

Someday's Dreamers follows Kikuchi Yume, our emotional/sensitive protagonist. She's a mage in training and has come to Tokyo to better understand her powers, what it's like to be a mage and to become a certified mage. Throughout Someday's Dreamers, we follow her time in Tokyo and all the issues she faces.

Now even though Kikuchi Yume is our protag and it's all about her, the supports, Angela, another girl who is an apprentice mage is also slightly important and is shown; there are clear arcs that involve her and Kikuchi too. The other "main" person would be the sensei or the mage who helps Yume with the mage training, Masami Oyamada. He's the teacher for Yume and is involved with just about everything that Yume does, although he's laidback and has some issues of his own that we eventually get to explore.

The story, for the most part is very conjoined, it's a slice of life with an episodic format (Which I feel isn't the best choice for Someday's Dreamers, I would have preferred a story that flowed in an easier to follow format). When we're first introduced to Yume, we're told she has extraordinary capabilities and that her mother was a great mage as well. She's able to make money from thin air, lift cars in a city straight into the sky and things that really show, she's powerful. Unfortunately, this angle is never really explored and is essentially forgotten throughout the rest of the episodes.

Although Someday's Dreamers does us it's nigh-on episodic format, it's not "bad" enough to make a big difference, there is just no clear cut time line for us to follow and it feels like there are time skips that keep occurring, though that might be my problem and not the anime.

The sound and music in Someday's Dreamers is gorgeous though, it's a huge "job well done", big thumbs up and all that. The instrumental, orchestrated music that will pop up during scenes is phenomenal and well worth a listen to. The OP (Flowers of the Wind) is fantastic and so peaceful, relaxing and slow; the singer is so beautiful and the way the song is setup, it just sounds so good. The ED (Under the Blue Sky) is just as good, although using a slightly quicker tempo (still plenty slow though), beautiful vocalist, great lyrics. In Episode 12, we get to hear the ED in an acoustic way and it is quite amazing, you can hear (or I think) the passion and depth of the song with how it's performed in an acoustic environment; it's 10/10 stuff.

Seiyuu performance: Normally I don't comment on this, because I love the squeeful, extra cute, moe stuff and since that's all I watch, nothing to say. In Someday's Dreamers however, it sounds like all the seiyuu are very quiet and I don't mean I'm listening to the anime with low volume. It's as if they're near whispering, talking very softly, ya know? This isn't a problem for me, since I seem to talk the same way, soft and "peaceful", but the problem is, it feels like the performances fell flat. Expressions weren't adjusted as much as you'd think and it's a little weird to hear all the performers speak in this low tone type of voice. Now again, not an issue for me, but I feel like the way they speak could most definitely put someone off from this.

Animation: Another aspect in which Someday's Dreamers isn't so hot. It's not fluid, at all. I guess this is what a cheap budget would look like. The mouths just open and close, there are no intricacies in the movements, the animation is .... well I guess not as smooth as it could be. There are many stills used to prolong scenes, and things of that nature. It's a warning, the animation in Someday's Dreamers is not a strong point at all, but fortunately for Someday's Dreamers, it doesn't have to be perfect and extra smooth. The way the entire anime is shown to us, the lack of polish and depth to the animation is almost a non issue...... except for the mouths, I swear there are scenes that literally only have open and close mouth frames with nothing in-between. Again, it's not.... that bad to scare you off, but it's something I noticed and was noticeable throughout all 12 episodes. A good point on animation is when the "special" powers are used. The powers are shown by using holograms, so Yume for instance has a dolphin. Those scenes are incredible and are both drawn and animated well.

Art Style: If we take the animation away from the picture and focus on art, I'd say it's good enough for the way Someday's Dreamers wants to be presented. The colors aren't bold, they're subdued and honestly, almost realistic in how it's shown. The characters are drawn really well and I actually like how it all looks. The eyes aren't so big compared to the faces (I know people hate big eyes). It's a good looking show, even if there isn't so much detail.

Overall: Someday's Dreamers is a solid slice of life story about decision making and always trying to get the best out of any given situation. It's kind, light hearted, sincere and sometimes even serious in how it presents itself. Not everyone will understand what it's like to be a mage, not everyone will understand that you can't do everything, but always try your best, failures and mistakes can help you grow and become better. Yume was a fantastic Main and the concept and theme of the story worked well, I just wish we could have seen more of her capabilities and things of that, because we don't witness much strong magic. (If you're interested, Someday's Dreamers is on Hulu, if you don't want to buy the DVD)

Note: No idea where to put it, but this is a very slow, unfolding type of Slice of Life. I mean... very slow. (I obviously enjoyed it though)

I didn't really kind Clannad to be that sad. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien tho...

Rumbling Hearts was more frustrating than sad. I mean, the whole ending kinda pissed me off a little and it didn't go where I thought it was or where it should have gone.

Clannad After Story though, my goodness, does Key know how to craft those "moments in time" damn.... that is shy you have to marathon from ep. 15 to the end in one sitting...

Don't worry, the Clannad series is no School Days. The recommendation is genuine (even though I've never seen After Story.)

I keep saying you have to get on that, lol. It's well worth your time..

Off to run a 2 hour training session now... uggh, my sensei powers must come out strong here...

Yep, starting the show with Miia being
jerked off.
Ms. Smith is awesome. OP and ED are awesome.

I'm a little scared to watch Monster Musume. Love the manga but I can't see it being well adapted. I guess this is an issue other people run into more frequently than myself.

YouTube also only loads chunks at a time, but the YouTube player isn't as bad and their servers are generally better lol. It's a bandwidth efficiency strategy.

School-Live! Episode 1 Second Attempt:

This was still a pretty tedious and typical cute girls slice of life program
and then it turns into the god damned Walking Dead!? Okay, now I am kind of interested in this considering the MC is clearly bug fuck insane and I think the other girls are humoring her neurosis at the moment.

I haven't had any recent problems with Crunchyroll, though I do all my watching through the Android app.

Also, I'm halfway through Sound! Euphonium and its really good. Though it feels like it ought to be a two cour show, feels like things are moving along kind of fast for me.

New ed is better than the first. Interesting stuff about the Magic World. Pierre's ancestor kind of got screwed there. Love is terrible there. So if you divorce, you die. On one hand that's one way to enforce true love. On the other hand that's a risk no one should be willing to take. Woo and Soul don't seem that willing with Chocolat amusingly. Queen Candy really seems to favor Chocolat over her own daughter. Seems like even Vanilla isn't happy about that, and she takes everything in stride. Pierre needs a queen. I see where this is going. Waffle is terrible and should just completely disappear. She helps differentiate Woo and Soul, but other than that she doesn't contribute anything good.

Rokka no Yuusha-

Episode was fine blah blah blah. I just wanted to point out that I had issues with one particular scene in the episode, when the Princess/Maid talked with Adlet in the prison cell. My problem with the scene is that there are many useless camera angles that don't further our understanding of the characters nor their relationships.

I actually disagree.
The princess is actually show as lively. A this point in the show we had a character , that actually get into a jail , just to ask a guy questions. AND THEN the storyboard actively depict her as fearless ( the head in the hole ) and lively ( she is moving left and right), suggesting that either the conversation lasted longer than one would think or that she is really lively.

In that same scene, the MC even confident as he is , doesn't even attempt to do anything, many moments in this part actually show the MC moving ( a little thanks to the injuries ). I think the whole scene does what it intended to do , that is actually show the various personnalities of the 2 characters.
The calm and confident prisonner and the curious and energetic "maid". As for the framming , one could say that it's useless at times but not really .. The hole is treated as a device to see the "maid" suggesting that she could be something else if the whole device ( the jail ) isn't there.
