No more info about their panel, seriously? I wanted to hear about the questions..

According to a gaffer from the previous page who was at the panel, there weren't really any important questions. They were usually funny ones, but there wasn't anything too serious. :p

So I just realized something. The 360 games in Rare Replay are emulated and are confirmed to be tied to their original 360 achievement lists rather than getting Xbox One achievements. So, what does that mean for the one achievement in Trouble in Paradise that requires an Xbox Vision camera? MS said that USB peripherals won't be supported in 360 emulation and even on the 360 itself the original Kinect isn't useable for the achievement. So are they going to just auto-unlock it with an update or what? It would be a bit odd if you could only earn 9,990 of the 10,000 GS on an Xbox One. :p

I believe they aren't counting it in the 10000

I don't really think you'll be able to find anybody besides Rare or Playtonic that can make a great Banjo game. It just won't feel the same.

I meant people within Rare. If the Xbox boss went there and said "hey, I love your game series X and I'd like to assemble a small team to make a new game in the series" I'm sure some people would want to work on that.

That specific achievement or 360 achievements period? Because if you mean the latter, they definitely are, they announced it. If you mean the prior that would definitely be... interesting hahah. I mean, even if it's not counted in the 10,000 it'll still be there, so technically it would be 10,010, with 10 exclusive to players with 360's and 360 copies of TiP. :p

Edit: Just realized there are two achievements apparently. Oops. And I just did some Googling and I guess they may be tweaking the game/achievements? Hmm.

Does this also mean that all of the achievements we have for the 360 games in the package (I have all of them for BK XBLA, for example) will already be unlocked on Rare Replay?

I guess you're right, but what if nobody at Rare wants to work on it at the moment? You wouldn't just force them to work on it. It'd be better to wait until the right time and for them to finish all the other stuff they're working on, and then see if they're up for it or not. It's better when a dev is passionate about what they're working on. The final product usually turns out better.

Yes! So based on that, you'll already have unlocked content in Rare Replay because some of the unlock able content is tied to achievements.

That freaking sucks. I've got all achievements for all three Banjo games, I was really hyped to get them all again :/

I wish they used to Xbox version of Conker but with all the extra censorship removed. Much better graphics and I believe new worlds in the Campaign.

As far as I know, there weren't any new worlds in the Xbox remake. The multiplayer was completely new though, and they also removed some segments from the campaign.

What a weird way of doing things. Quite a let down tbh.

I wouldn't say it's "weird". I mean, it's a $30 package and MS just got 360 emulation working, so it makes sense they'd just throw in the 360 copies, emulate them, and call it a day as far as those games are concerned. Native ports of the 360 games would add a good bit more to the development costs.

Honestly, 360 emulation is probably a big reason why Rare Replay is even a thing to begin with.

So wait, the 360 games are emulated in this collection and not actually ported?

Welp, my interest in picking this up just nose-dived. I have seen videos by the likes of Digital-Foundry showing that emulated 360 games on Xbone has worse performance.

This is so silly.

I've played most of the 360 games in this collection on Xbone through the preview program and I didn't really notice any difference in performance, aside from some ocassional slowdown/stuttering in PDZ.

In these discussions on RARE I'm reminded of this graph. It puts things in perspective of how far they fell when they abandoned Nintendo...

Actually is feels so right. Many years of awesome games all in one collection. Really great to see a collection that spreads decades of gaming goodness.

At least it exists. Does anyone honestly think this collection would exist if people like Mattrick were still in charge?

That Grabbed by the Ghoulies number makes me ultra sad...especially since it's more than likely the first game I'll be loading up on August 4th. I loved that game back in 2003!

It would on WiiU, I expect underwhelming sales on Xbone.

Nintendo would probably drag it out via poor VC emulation for $5 a pop over the next few years instead of a collection.

People have to suck it up. MS own RARE. Nothing is going to change and the price-point of the collection means it should shift good numbers.

Seriously now? At 30 dollars?

This game was one of the most preordered after E3. I think your expectations are a tad off.

Not to mention more than half the games in the collection were never on a Nintendo platform to begin with.

Oh man. The nostalgia! I fondly remember getting together with 3 buddies and duking it out with our wiimotes in Goldeneye on N64.

Whoever made that must be insanely salty--this is even before they can blame MS for the Kinect games. At that point the only problems Rare had were that the Stamper Bros and other talent left, which isn't really MS's fault.

Not sure where you got this chart/data but it doesn't appear to be accurate. The press release from Microsoft when they purchased Rare says the following (in 2006):
Rare grabbed the attention of the video game world in 1994 with its creation of Donkey Kong Country. Selling more than 8 million copies, DKC went on to become the biggest-selling 16-bit title in history.

Rare became one of the premiere developers in the world, with sales averaging 1.4 million units per title and nearly 90 million games sold since the company was founded. Five of the top 20 all-time-best-selling N64 titles were developed by Rare, including GoldenEye 007, the second-best-selling game in North America, with worldwide sales topping 8 million.

With today's announcement, Rare becomes the latest member of a star-studded lineup at Microsoft Game Studios, joining such prestigious worldwide developers as Bungie Studios, the masterminds behind the smash hit Halo™...

Yeah, it's damn depressing.

Also, having a hard time understanding how each DKC sequel dropped 50% in sales?? :/
