I went on the WiiU VC and download Kirby SuperStar. It's probably my favorite game from win I was I kid and I'll gladly play this session for Iwata. I got the week off of work and I can think of nothing better than to have fun playing games, because that's what they're for.

If you get Balloon Fight from somewhere, it's only like 24kbs

Balloon Trip highscore is 25000

Was he involved with the Adventures of Lolo games? I adore those and I don't see them being mentioned. Anyway, Kirby and SSB are two of my favorite series ever, Pokémon Silver is my favorite Pokémon game and I need to play Earthbound since I got it for free on Club Nintendo somewhat recently.

Play Pokemon gen 2 (Gold/Silver)

It was basically due to his programming skills that Kanto was put into the game along with Johto.

Wait, really? I never knew that. The fact that gold/silver has both regions makes it my favorite Pokémon game, and one of my favorite games ever made. And that was all thanks to him? Damn.

I'm playing my Kirby games tonight on my pea-green Game Boy and remembering both Mr. Iwata and Mr. Yokoi. Both lost to this world far too soon.

It's crazy. Before Iwata optimized the code not even Yohto alone would have completely fit on the cartridge. After he was done with it they had enough space left to add in Kanto as well.

Even Johto wasn't going to be as big as it was without Iwata. He did such a good ob clearing space that they even managed to provide the most amazing post-game content ever.

I think both Earthbound and Kirby oughta be good choices. These games are made out of pure joy. Mr Iwata really brought the best out of games.

I'm planning to play some Kirby's Adventure tomorrow for sure.

This is the best way to revisit Iwata's legacy: just play games and have fun.

This is pretty much what I did tonight, stayed up late playing a game online with a friend. Just going to bed now at 2am. I'd say I kept it lit up as long as I could.

It has to be Kirby Superstar for me on both accounts. I have fond memories of being home alone many times as a child with no parents while it was dark outside and nothing to do except for play a SNES, and surprisingly I had a lot of games that were too tough or me or made me feel scared to play alone but Kirby wasn't one of them and by myself I could play them easily and it got me through those times alone really. So right now I'm playing it. I feel like I should remember Iwata and what he gave me and the best way to thank him is to enjoy the things he helped to create.

I think Kirby is my most personal connection to him. Both Dreamland and Adventure. Played those when they were new and the whimsy and love almost brings tears to my eyes. I remember clutching my spinach green Game Boy at elementary school in 1992, and holding the speaker up to my ear and enjoying the tunes. I remember falling in love with the music and world of Adventure even though I already had a SNES by 1993... it was arresting and commanded my attention, even when by all means I should have been chasing the games with shinier technology.

My friend and I were appreciating them on FB only a month ago... two 30 year olds teary eyed over a pink blob! lol

Balloon Fight really is an underrated hidden gem on the NES. It often gets overlooked and never mentioned but it still plays amazingly and playing it two player is so fun. It holds up so well for being an early NES game.

Also I believe it was the second best section at the Nintendo World Championships after Super Mario Maker. Not much reaction from the crowd at first, but later on it proved just how great it is. And anyone can pick up and play it.

Edit: I would like to start a movement in getting Balloon Fighter into Smash Bros. for Iwata, but not sure how to do it.

He's responsible for one of the best gaming surprises of my childhood? Seriously, that's amazing. I remember beating the Pokemon League in Gold. I was completely satisfied. I thought it was a little short/easy compared to RBY, but the game had been an amazing journey, and a worthy sequel to the originals.

Then Professor Elm gives you that SS ticket. Mind. Blown.

For anybody who wants to cry, here's the amazing Vermillion City remix that played as you set foot into a very familiar region. I might go replay Gold or Heart Gold right now.

I think once I am finished with work today I will sit down and play some Balloon Fight for a bit, and get started on Earthbound.

I have both of these games already (Earthbound bought in a fit of hype when it was released but never got around to playing, and Balloon Fight as a freebie because I'm a 3DS Ambassador), and once I have enjoyed both I will see what else he's worked on and make the necessary purchases.

Get the Balloon Fight theme.

Several weeks ago, as my final Club Nintendo reward, I got Earthbound for free. I was thinking about getting something else, but I just wanted Earthbound on my Wii U. Time to revisit that game.

lAlso admire how impressive Pokemon Gold and Silver's size is for the time and technology, because that was awesome. What a badass thing he pulled off getting all that on a small cart.
Had no idea iwata was responsible for this(these are my favorite games ever). Iwata will forever be the goat :(

I have Earthbound on Wii U VC but never played it. Tonight's as good a time as any to start.
I have had it on my WiiU since releasr and only started playing it yesterday. After he died but before I knew. Feels like my subconscious knew there was a reason I should be playing the game at that point, I realise how weird that sounds.

Absolutely loving the game though, makes me feel more sad knowing the man responsible for making it happen is no longer with us.

Going to replay Kirby personally, he is my favorite hero of all time after all.
I even have him in my NNID's small message.

I started playing Balloon Trip yesterday, probably one of my favourite NES games, it's completely timeless.
Arcana and Alcahest (with translation patch) - damn good games with excellent music.
Oh wow, never heard of Alcahest that looks sweet.

The Guardian suggests that the first game he ever made was Super Billiards for the MSX, but I think any of the Earthbound, Balloon Fight, NES Golf, Pokemon Gold/Silver and Kirby games are appropriate.

Balloon Fight. Adventures of Lolo. Kirby Superstar.
Dear lord, it's 6 in the morning and I'm still half snapped on shine and the untimely news of Iwatas death, but I never knew he had a hand in Lolo! This guy had his fingers into just about everything Nintendo from my early years as a gamer. I'm gonna give Earthbound a serious look and revisit Kirby...
